I came in to agree with you but then you said Jeez .......

tillytrotter21 · 09/11/2018 10:49

Sounds like a Judge Judy-ism. Agree on the Jeez, you're hardly helping you argument!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 09/11/2018 10:52

It's vile, I have a friend whose Instagram bio thingy declares "proud perfect Mumma to three perfect children".

I also have a friend who uses "hubbalub" for her DH which makes me physically recoil.

I need new friends.

CaptainCabinets · 09/11/2018 11:16

My DM is saved as Mamma on my phone. I’ve called her that for years. No big deal.

SpannerH · 09/11/2018 11:21

I hate the term 'little legs' oooh little legs cooed today, oooh little legs wore something today. no!

ThatWouldBeNO · 09/11/2018 11:23

I'm mama. I hate mummy. To my ears it sounds twee. Each to their own.

GoatFinger · 09/11/2018 11:31

I like mama. But I live outside the UK so to me it sounds cute.
I call my child "little fella" as in the little fella was excited about seeing the dinosaurs at the museum. How does that sit with you?

divadee · 09/11/2018 11:35

My 2 kids still call me Mama, and the eldest is 21 Confused

PennyMordauntsLadyBrain · 09/11/2018 11:36

I think it’s regional- it’s Mum or Mammy here, anything else and you’d be accused of having notions.

MoaningSickness · 09/11/2018 11:46

I prefer to be called mama. My DH insists on saying 'mumma' and claims mama is too hard to say. He managed Dada and Nana etc just fine (although he now prefers Daddy). It grates.

I'm happy for other people to be called whatever they want.

Smallplant · 09/11/2018 11:48

It's a pretentious instagram mum thing

isseywithcats · 09/11/2018 11:49

can honestly say i have lived 62 years and this is the first time oin my life ive even seen the word mumma my mum was that mum

thecatsthecats · 09/11/2018 11:51

Seconded on little legs.

Course they having fucking little legs, they're children. Usually used to describe why said child can't walk further than the front door to the car.

CrookedMe · 09/11/2018 11:53

Little legs??? Never heard of that one!

A colleague used to always call her son a 'wee man cut down' which I thought was really weird.

My son calls me Mumma when he's needing babied a bit; I'll let him have that one for as long as he wants Smile

Drogosnextwife · 09/11/2018 11:53

It reminds me of a film I watched a few years back, it was called mama right enough but every time I hear something similar I think of that creaky film.

Drogosnextwife · 09/11/2018 11:54

Creepy

Tahani · 09/11/2018 11:55

Mumma, not mama

Fine if you're 4.

blueskiesandforests · 09/11/2018 11:59

Hmm used publicly (rather than in private to a parent they've always called that) by adults it's a bit holibob/ nom nom/ hubby ...

As others say you've stuck a post it with hypocrite written on it on your forehead by using the word jeez when complaining about mumma though :o

My kids still call me mummy, including the teen, which I believe also annoys people on MN.

aussiemum8 · 09/11/2018 12:00

@MoaningSickness

My DH insists on saying 'mumma' and claims mama is too hard to say.

Wait what's the difference (in pronunciation) between mumma and mama?

Pickupthephone · 09/11/2018 12:02

It’s an instamum thing. It’s very annoying.

blueskiesandforests · 09/11/2018 12:02

uh as in multiple and ah as in cat @aussiemum ?
