To ask how I survive a night with a baby and NO NAPPIES?!!!

Carmen99 · 07/11/2018 18:28

Partner dropped baby off an hour ago...told me he had bought nappies. Ive been through bags...definitely no nappies...He's working tonight and will be miles away now. I have no one I can ask for help- neighbours elderly on one side, suffered very recent bereavement on the other side. Unbelievably my car is in garage and there are no shops within easy driving distance.
Does anyone have any ideas at all about what I can possibly do to get through night? Only use one nappy in night...usually change at 7pm and again at 6am. I've got swim nappies but sure they wouldn't work.
Got no other nappies in house.
Help!

Maybe after 140 posts, the OP has sorted it for tonight. Reading updates would be a good idea.

Alaria4 · 07/11/2018 21:04

Ah good luck OP. I once thought I had a whole load of nappies...turns out I had none! Baby brain or what. Thankfully I found 1 nappy (who knows where) and made it through the night.

Hope your diy nappy works!! It's a shame you have nobody close to help you, I would most certainly help and so great to see others offer. Flowers

londonrach · 07/11/2018 21:05

Although...what on earth is uber?

snozzlemaid · 07/11/2018 21:05

This is hilarious how all the city dwellers can't comprehend how people can't have Amazon delivering within 2 hours, regular bus service and no Uber.

PMSwithacockinmydress · 07/11/2018 21:05

anniehm How on earth can the OP be both "in the sticks" and yet in a city with a concierge service?

Carmen99 · 07/11/2018 21:12

Love the idea of a concierge service or Uber. Yes- we don't have those.
We live in the middle of no where. We have 2 immediate neighbours (who don't have children in nappies) then no one in easy walking distance.
I love the people who can't believe anyone could be this disorganised. It was just a mistake...not the end of the world. It happens.

I live in London. I know what an Uber is but never heard of a concierge service. Must be something for the posh areas.

Glad you're sorted OP. Good luck!

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 07/11/2018 21:15

Nappy made of a towel (sellotape shut), swim nappy over top maybe... Good luck

EmmaGeddon · 07/11/2018 21:16

@Carmen99 are you sure you're not somewhere in North Wales? Because public transport and local taxi firms are pretty rubbish but the Co-op down the road is open til 11 and I would happily deliver a pack of nappies.

EvaHarknessRose · 07/11/2018 21:19

Having been caught out once with a baby dd with explosive poo, no nappies and no wipes and in a small seaside town out of season on a bank holiday with no shops open - you have mine and dh’s sincerest empathy. Well done on your makeshift nappy.

MumGoneCrazy · 07/11/2018 21:21

Amazon fresh and prime now don't deliver to my area of South Wales either unfortunately.

tolerable · 07/11/2018 21:27

swim nappies-change before you go bed,or go old school?triangle towel?x

Alfie190 · 07/11/2018 21:28

I live in the middle of nowhere, there is no chance of Uber here or an Amozon delivery or a takeaway delivery even, but at 6.30pm, when OP posted, i am damn sure i would have the wit to get hold of nappies somehow. Dont believe this for a second.

super63 · 07/11/2018 21:29

@Carmen99 glad you got some practical advice, I think maybe your best option is to pack all your belongings, sell your house (tonight) and move to an area that has amazon prime now, Uber's and lots of friends on hand to come and give you nappies. And never ever run out of nappies again, because that's not allowed. EVER.

On that note I must share the story of when I went to get a blood test and had my 2 year old and baby in tow. The 2 year old pooed just as we dropped my eldest off to school, so I changed him in the car, then he pooed when we arrived at the doctors so I changed him there too, then he pooed again while I was waiting, I was 26 in the queue and by this point had ran out of nappies, I mean I know I should have had a jumbo pack of 75 with me but thought 3 would suffice.,. So at this point when I realised I had no more nappies I took him to the toilet and cleaned him up, pulled his shorts back up and prayed he wouldn't need to go again, I mean 3 times in the space of an hour, I thought I was on to a winner when he did a wee on the toilet. Then just as my number got called I noticed poo... coming out of his shorts... the nurse said she would wait while I changed him so I went into the toilet knowing I had nothing to change him in to..

I had no spare clothes for him because he never needs changing, so I had to take his shorts off and put him in a 3-6 months pink vest that said 'pretty as a princess' he wore his t shirt over the top and was rather proud of it. I'm just amazed he fitted into a 3-6 month vest. Anyway that turned into a very long story, maybe I should have got an Uber?

Super63 😂

jilldoyoulikeowls · 07/11/2018 21:32

@CandyCreeper we live in a village with no shop. Would be a 4 mile walk down country lanes in the dark. Same for loads of people on MN. Not worth risking life and limb for some nappies when you just know there'll be some brilliant ideas on MN.

CandyCreeper · 07/11/2018 21:33

one word taxi.

jilldoyoulikeowls · 07/11/2018 21:35

@Mominatrix we definitely don't have Uber either!

jilldoyoulikeowls · 07/11/2018 21:38

@CandyCreeper you've obviously never been anywhere rural 😂

BaronessBomburst · 07/11/2018 21:39

My village only has taxis on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Actually it's just the one taxi, and you have to pre-book.

Angharad07 · 07/11/2018 21:41

I don’t think a lot of people on this thread have ever lived in the countryside/anywhere remote...bless

Most places in Wales don’t have any of the services people on here have described haha (unfortunately that includes public transport lol. Can’t even get a taxi where dp is from!)

MuncheysMummy · 07/11/2018 21:44

I’m not even totally rural here and we don’t have Uber or even Deliveroo!

MissMarplesBloomers · 07/11/2018 21:45

CandyCreeper Are you deliberately being obtuse??

READ THE FULL THREAD .....ffs not everyone has a handy shop/taxi service/ delivery service & even if they did might not be able to afford it.

Anyone OP has been inventive & crisis averted.

Hope you have wine OP Grin

NotUmbongoUnchained · 07/11/2018 21:46

This thread is comedy gold. (Am also from the country!)

Letsmoveondude · 07/11/2018 21:46

If you’re near Bedford or the surrounding villages I can get some nappies and drop some for ya.
