AIBU to not wear panty liners every day?

Tbh this is a complete new one for me. Was having a conversation with a friend yesterday who wears panty liners every day and has done since she was 15. I’d never heard of this before and told her so. She told me I was a manky minge Grin and that everybody wore them. Is this true? Thoughts please ....

It is really upsetting to read this thread. It is so judgemental and mean. Why can't other women understand that not everyone is the same as them. Some women need panty liners because they produce more discharge than others.

This does not mean that they have an infection or don't wash their underwear or don't shower enough. Some women do not need them so that's fine too. The rude comments are completely unnecessary from a group of grown women.

BertrandRussell · 08/11/2018 18:44

"Some women need panty liners because they produce more discharge than others"

Yes. And nobody has denied this. What we are talking about is the the commercially motivated belief that all women need them every day.

ProfessorMoody · 08/11/2018 18:45

There's no hope is there, when people are still making vile comments without reading. No hope.

Rudgie47 · 08/11/2018 18:46

Why don't men wear them stuck to the inside of their underpants? They
have problems with dribbling etc and sweaty balls.

Rachelover40 · 08/11/2018 18:46

I agree with you Prof.

Caaarrrl · 08/11/2018 18:49

You keep saying that no one has said rude things Bertrand but I beg to differ. Many posters have not mentioned you point, which by the way I agree with, they have just made rude comments about women hating their vaginas, being gross or having low standards of personal hygiene.

Of course every women does not need to wear one everyday, and no one should be pressured by advertisers.

VerbenaGirl · 08/11/2018 18:50

Goodness no! The sweatiness! The plastic waste! Very strange...

ProfessorMoody · 08/11/2018 18:50

svalentine60

Ridiculous Cheers. Good to know my medical condition and comfort are ridiculous. 👍

@Ravenesque

they were just another way to tell women that they were dirty and needed yet another product to make them not dirty or, they could be for woman like me who have excess fluid and need them so we don't have to change our knickers and trousers ten times a day.

@IcedPurple Yuck! Thanks hon. Good to know I'm yuck for using them because I have to.

@SevenStones No wonder we have a huge environmental problem Cheers. Some of us use washables. I hope you used washable nappies, are vegan, don't fly or drive, don't use plastic etc.

@3daughtersgood
underpants are clothes liners Fuck me, you don't say? Only for some of us, it's not enough.

abbsisspartacus · 08/11/2018 18:51

Rudgie good point I can see the need for men to have them daily they are set up to drip dry after all

I've always sweated more with a liner on 🤷‍♀️

Renster · 08/11/2018 18:53

@curiousaboutsamohire 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

greeneyedlulu · 08/11/2018 18:56

FFS
I wear liners daily, never used to before having a child but then things changed!
I shower every morning, wear a fresh pair of pants every day and use a liner!
I prefer them to the feeling of damp pants and god forbid I sneeze without one in my pants!!

namastayinbed · 08/11/2018 18:58

I wore them after dc1's birth because the lochia stage was insane. In normal life, I just think waste of money and resources.

Plessis · 08/11/2018 19:00

@professormoody that's really interesting! I did not know that (acid vag)

tootruetoyou · 08/11/2018 19:02

Pants do the same job as liners unless you have a specific issue. Totally over the top to wear liners everyday and so bad for the environment. I enjoy peeling off my 'manky' pants at the end of the day and getting a fresh pair on the next morning.

winniestone37 · 08/11/2018 19:06

How weird!!!! If you were leaking wee then maybe nut otherwise no!!! They have plastic backing- how on earth is that better for your vagina than cotton knickers??? Insanity.

Meinmytree · 08/11/2018 19:07

Only on day 1 of my period - I use a cup and when there's a lot of blood it's difficult to get rid of it all when wiping after cup emptying.

I hate the wet, icky, squishy feeling when I'm ovulating, but I'm never organised enough to use a liner anyway those days. If I did I'd go for resuable, they don't smell flowery and disgusting (I hate the smell of scented liners, and I can tell sometimes when people are wearing them as I can smell them - lovely acute sense of smell...)

MrWolfknowsthetime · 08/11/2018 19:09

This is right up there with the nastiest threads I've ever seen on here.

(Kudos to ProfMoody for battling on, I'd have given up a long time ago.)

SharpLily · 08/11/2018 19:11

Christ on a bike! This thread is really bringing out the stupids!

A decent bush wicks moisture away.

I know that's the theory, except when I have a Seventies bush I also have thrush. Removing it provides immediate relief - probably my bush can't cope with my apparently 'yuck', excessively gushy minge Hmm. It keeps it all too damp.

IcedPurple · 08/11/2018 19:12

@IcedPurple Yuck! Thanks hon. Good to know I'm yuck for using them because I have to.

Yeah I use them too but wouldn't want to see the outline of one in a photograph for all to see, which was my point.

I swear some people are actually looking to be 'offended'.

SingaporeSlinky · 08/11/2018 19:15

svalentine60 good grief! “because obviously if she has to wear them every day she has some sort of yeast infection lol”
Adding an ‘lol’ doesn’t make your comment funny or any less rude. If you’d rtft or even part of it, you’d see that plenty of people need to wear them and don’t have any kind of infection. Jesus.

Burratorchildhood · 08/11/2018 19:19

Haha. I don't wear them. Honestly I barely have the time to put my pants on in the morning let alone LINE them! Grin

PortiaCastis · 08/11/2018 19:19

RTFT and realise not everyone is the same and nobody knows what the future holds and their secretions may be excessive after a childbirth or the menopause

ProfessorMoody · 08/11/2018 19:19

MrWolf - I never thought I'd be so invested in a thread about fannies Grin

strumpetblowingatrumpet · 08/11/2018 19:19

I wear a pad every day as I have mild stress incontinence. I feel anxious without one now!

April241 · 08/11/2018 19:26

I never used too until I had kids. Now if I don’t wear them I get into a mild panic. I sometimes don’t use them, if I’ve forgotten to pick up a box for example but I do like to use them.
