AIBU to not wear panty liners every day?

Tbh this is a complete new one for me. Was having a conversation with a friend yesterday who wears panty liners every day and has done since she was 15. I’d never heard of this before and told her so. She told me I was a manky minge Grin and that everybody wore them. Is this true? Thoughts please ....

@Plessis

If there weren't some absolute freaks out there who would get off on it, I'd post you a picture of the clean gusset of one of my black pairs of knickers. Some of the older ones that are now reserved for period pants look as though I've smeared the gusset with bleach and left it.

Yes. Vaginal secretions bleach black knickers.

HTH.

Plessis · 08/11/2018 16:49

Well I never. I've always worn black pants and that's never happened. Genuinely intrrigued as to why. You don't need to post the pic though I believe you Grin

ProfessorMoody · 08/11/2018 16:52

I'm only not posting as I know it will just get deleted so there's not much point. I have no qualms over posting it though, my knickers are clean and it's quite interesting to those who don't know Grin

According to this (but it's the Mirror so make of that what you will) having an acid fanny is a good thing.

JustDanceAddict · 08/11/2018 16:55

I don’t - only at beg/end of period.,

florriepeck · 08/11/2018 16:56

Saves washing trousers/ jeans as often.

SingaporeSlinky · 08/11/2018 16:59

Yes I can vouch for that too. If I haven’t worn a liner, sometimes I have tried soaking, oxi vanish, 60 degree wash etc but still stained. So a tiny disposable liner going to landfill isn’t much different environmentally, surely. And easier, quicker and cheaper than buying new knickers every month.

PortiaCastis · 08/11/2018 17:02

Well done Prof here's hoping folk read that . I think the idea that all woman have the same amount of secretions is ill conceived as all women are different with different fannies and just because one goes commando doesn't mean everybody can. Also as I said I don't think folk should take notice of online medical people for obvious reasons and could be dangerous and oh my legs don't squeak but my arse does sometimes Smile

Davespecifico · 08/11/2018 17:09

Yes for most of the month e.g. sitting in warm room at work and long car drive to work, post period and definitely mid period when there's more discharge. Would be a bit fruity otherwise.

ProfessorMoody · 08/11/2018 17:13

I didn't have a gushing gash until I had my first kid. After that, my hormones went haywire, so it can happen to anyone Wink

PortiaCastis · 08/11/2018 17:15

Grin gushing gash made me laugh although it's not really funny the phrase made me giggle

threatmatrix · 08/11/2018 17:23

How bad does she smell??

UnderaRock · 08/11/2018 17:27

I don't even wear underwear every day! Let alone a panty liner LOL

MsLexic · 08/11/2018 17:28

What? no, they are horrible cardboardy things. The only time I did was perimenopausal gushings of water. Very odd. I felt like a leaky faucet.

a1poshpaws · 08/11/2018 17:29

Mari50 - minor incontinence.

Supercaliwotsit · 08/11/2018 17:30

Isn’t that why knickers have a gusset? It’s a double layer of cotton. That does me tbh, or I’ll change knickers. # worried that it’s a marketing thing to make women think it’s a necessity.

achenyo · 08/11/2018 17:32

I sometimes wear panty liners because I get very wet down there and discharge. Unfortunately not within my control.

MsJudgemental · 08/11/2018 17:34

Never used to but now wear TenaLady lights daily as wetting yourself if you sneeze, cough, laugh or trip is not pleasant! On the environmental front, can anyone recommend reusables that are up to the job? (sorry, not had time to read the whole thread).

icanbewhatiwant · 08/11/2018 17:35

They would give me thrush if I wore them every day as the plastic doesn’t let air in. So wouldn’t be an option for me. But I do understand people saying they make you feel more comfortable.

Louise841417 · 08/11/2018 17:37

Grin that’s exactly what I thought! If you need to wear a panty liner everyday for years on end you’ve probably got a long term yeast infection!

cherish123 · 08/11/2018 17:39

I wear them now every day as they make me feel cleaner and in case of any drips. Didn't use them before 40, though.

Bushbaby85 · 08/11/2018 17:46

What an utter waste of time, money and the environment......
Each to their own but how uncomfortably wearing one every day.
Plus vaginal secretions are entirely normal (within reason obviously)

CelebBigBother · 08/11/2018 17:47

Surely that's what the gusset is for!!!

StrippingLLamaWhisperer · 08/11/2018 17:47

I'm a knickerbleacher and think it keeps me mercifully free of thrush? I like the concept of daily liners because im a bit of a gusher but the cost and horrific environmental cost successfully puts me off. If there were locally handmade, biodegradeable liners made out of something renewable and regeneratively grown, you could sign me up!

LuvSmallDogs · 08/11/2018 17:53

I tried them out once, as DH had bought me some by mistake thinking they were proper pads. They’re awful, and made me itch the way that really plasticky (Always) pads do.

I think a lot of liner wearers probably trim/shave their pubes to nothing, that always made me feel like my discharge/groin sweat was like sitting in a cold slimy puddle. A decent bush wicks moisture away.
