I think its fine if you like it.

Quite high calorie but even on a diet it could work if you choose the rest of your daily food to allow for that.

LagerthaTheShieldMaiden · 04/11/2018 09:32

I've just had onion rings on white bread with plastic cheese and sweet chilli sauce. Hard to describe just how good it was Grin I do have a stinking hangover though!

Snomade · 04/11/2018 09:33

Oh God, I'm allergic to cheese.. Why did I read this?? I miss that salty melty temptress

Grilledaubergines · 04/11/2018 09:35

What’s your contribution?

You can eat whatever you want for any meal of the day. We don’t do cereal in this house at all, never have done and I never did as a child. A bowl of mush just doesn’t appeal as a pleasant way to start the day.

smallchanceofrain · 04/11/2018 09:39

YABU. I'm happy that my DC would choose cheese on toast over sugary cereals. Much better for them.

grasspigeons · 04/11/2018 09:39

@DameSylvieKrin - what else was on your breakfast plan.

I really struggle with breakfast

OatsBeansBarley · 04/11/2018 09:39

I love a cheese and ham toastie for breakfast, only occasionally if I'm travelling, it's not something I do for myself.

I do think crusty bread before lunch is wrong though! So I can't judge a judger.

SallyWD · 04/11/2018 09:40

It's fine! Just because cheese has fat it doesn't mean it's not nutritious. I have a wholemeal cheese toastie for breakfast many mornings. I have a bit of fruit to begin with and I think it's a nutritious and balanced meal.

Starlight345 · 04/11/2018 09:41

Could you explain why you think this ?

tigercub50 · 04/11/2018 09:41

I love cheese on toast. Never thought of having it for breakfast but why not?

Alfie190 · 04/11/2018 09:43

Breakfast is the only time I would think of having cheese on toast, I would make it cheese and marmite on toast though.

nameforthethread · 04/11/2018 09:45

just to say, I'm sat eating cheese on toast now, off the back of seeing the this thread title in active convos.Grin

VenusInSpurs · 04/11/2018 09:52

DC often have cheese on toast for breakfast before school.

Wholemeal bread, melted cheese and a piece of fruit.

OneStepMoreFun · 04/11/2018 09:56

DC love it for breakfast. Wholemeal toast with melted Red Leicester. Grilled tomato and a glass of diluted fresh OJ. Great start to the day. Not fashionably low carb, low sugar but full of protein and nutrients. Filling and delicious.

BlueJava · 04/11/2018 10:01

I would also say good - wholemeal bread, cheese, bit of keptchup, few slices of tomato, excellent!

ShannonRockallMalin · 04/11/2018 10:03

My DH and DS will eat cheese on toast at any time of the day or night, DS with a slice of ham for preference.

teawamutu · 04/11/2018 10:19

Inspired by this thread, I've just had a cheese and ham toastie (done in the pan) for breakfast. It was awesome, why have u never done this before?

teawamutu · 04/11/2018 10:19

I not u. Gaaaah.

OHolyNightOwl · 04/11/2018 10:24

Continental breakfast is bread, cheese/breakfast meat. In Scandinavia this is what most eat every day (cheese and honey or jam on toast! Mmmm) and they are not exactly known for being obese or unhealthy.
Can't see the cheese being melted making any difference.

Marcipox · 04/11/2018 10:25

Inspired to make cheese on toast now.

noeffingidea · 04/11/2018 10:28

You can have whatever you fancy for breakfast. Some people eat a plateful of fried meat and eggs and call that breakfast, so why not have cheese on toast?
I can see why cereal or toast became popular for breakfast, it's a cheap meal. Some people couldn't afford 3 full balanced meals a day with meat and vegetables, so they focus on providing a proper dinner and the other meals are just filler really, or they just want something light at that time of day.
Anyway, I've just had a cheese and onion chutney sandwich with salad on the side. More of a lunch really, but I don't care.

RyderWhiteSwan · 04/11/2018 10:41

Left over mash and greens made into bubble and squeak, covered in cheese and heated in the oven. Serve with bacon. Lovely Winter brekkie!

NancyDonahue · 04/11/2018 10:49

It's an excellent breakfast. I often make my dc cheese toasties on school days as it's an easily portable breakfast for the long walk to school.

ForalltheSaints · 04/11/2018 10:58

I wouldn't have it and for those with dairy intolerance an awful idea, but for everyone else it is better than going without breakfast.

GinIsIn · 04/11/2018 11:05

DS loves cheese and eggs on toast for breakfast. It’s protein, fat, carbs - everything he needs to set him up for a day of terrorising the world. (He’s not quite 2)
