Do you think there’s a link with mmr and austim, I’ve already 3 children with austim so not sure about my baby having it

OP posts:
OneForTheRoadThen · 03/11/2018 17:46

@grabbit so basically you don't give a shit about the immune compromised, very young babies or anyone else that relies of herd immunity.

You are almost unbelievably selfish.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/11/2018 17:47

The point is, as many have already said, your basic understanding of those diseases is incorrect.

Setting all else aside, you are choosing not to protect your children based on errors of comprehension!

I may think you are just being a GF, but on the off chance that you are telling the truth, I am repeating the above, for the sake of your hypothetical children!

strumpetblowingatrumpet · 03/11/2018 17:48

Honestly that doctor who came up with this absolute drivel ought to be bloody strung up - the number of lives lost to babies not being vaccinated is criminal.

Please do get your baby vaccinated.

grabbit · 03/11/2018 17:48

I prioritise my own children's health, yes. Does that surprise you?

rainbowquack · 03/11/2018 17:49

I am not exactly rolling in it myself either @grabbit but my kids healthcare will always come first. ALWAYS. Thankfully, you have the NHS which will gladly offer preventative vaccinations for free, in lieu of treating symptoms and damages for preventable diseases later.

If you aren't being a GF, I really pity you as I fear you might actually believe the tripe that you are spouting.

Mominatrix · 03/11/2018 17:51

Interesting - OP has 3 children already past MMR age and did not bother to research this question in the past. She has an epiphany with her fourth that she should see if the conspiracy theory rumours have any basis in fact by asking a question on mumsnet and does not bother to come back to the thread.

Must be a very slow day in that household.

OneForTheRoadThen · 03/11/2018 17:51

It doesn't surprise me that an anti- vaccer would be ignorant and fundamentally selfish, no.

grabbit · 03/11/2018 17:51

I am sure I don't need to explain to you that there is a difference between not rolling in it and absolutely no spare money whatsoever.

I don't "believe" what I am saying, I know that vaccine damage occurs. I also know that at least one of diseases included in the MMR is of no risk to my children at this point in their lives. Ergo, I have no current plans to take the risk that could be caused by vaccine damage to protect them against a disease that would not harm them in the first place.

rainbowquack · 03/11/2018 17:53

What damage is it in particular that concerns you? I genuinely don't understand your logic.

grabbit · 03/11/2018 17:56

Vaccine damage is a thing, rainbow; I am happy to concede it is a rare thing, but it is nonetheless a thing.

rainbowquack · 03/11/2018 17:58

I am genuinely asking you to elaborate on this... What (rare) vaccine damage that you know happens is worth the risk? Please do share.

grabbit · 03/11/2018 17:59

well people on this thread for starters

shall i go on?

SawnUpLooRoll · 03/11/2018 18:01

NO LINK.

Just adding, because it's heartwarming to know that the masses see sense.

PurpleDaisies · 03/11/2018 18:02

But you said you wanted to have a measles vaccination done but couldn’t afford it. You get the mmr free. What you’re saying doesn’t make logical sense.

Olderbyaminute · 03/11/2018 18:02

There’s no link whatsoever at all between vaccines and autism-the previous poster on page one is flat out 100% wrong. I think so many parents have had the privilege of not seeing disease epidemics like previous generations had to understand how well vaccines work.

Sashkin · 03/11/2018 18:03

Vaccine damage is a thing

Yes it is. An extremely rare thing, but no effective medical product is entirely without risk. I have known patients die, and others end up on dialysis, from severe allergic reactions to antacids.

But measles, mumps and rubella damage is a much bigger thing. The relative risk is higher, and the number of possible adverse outcomes is higher. It is like driving 1000 miles because you are scared of your plane being bombed if you fly. It might feel safer to you, but in reality it is far less safe.

grabbit · 03/11/2018 18:04

It makes perfect sense. I don't want the girls to have the MMR. I would have the single measles vaccine but this is only available privately which we can't stretch to at the moment.

You win a ticket to go to Russia, Poland and Hungary. You only want to go to Hungary but can't afford a flight. yes?

rainbowquack · 03/11/2018 18:04

So you are taking information from an anonymous site and an 8 year old article as gospel. That's bonkers. You take more risk of injury when driving a car or getting on public transport.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/reporting-side-effects/

I repeat. Talk to your doctor. Talk to several doctors. Talk to hundreds. These are the professionals who deal with this on a very regular basis.

If you have more, please do elaborate.

grabbit · 03/11/2018 18:05

except it isn't sash because rubella isn't harmful to them. The vaccine is for pregnant (adult) women, not them.

grabbit · 03/11/2018 18:07

oh so because it happened eight years ago the lady's son is no longer disabled? I'm sure she will be comforted to know that!

No, the point is that we will never know because the government won't admit it. They only admitted it in that case after a long fight and irrefutable evidence. How many more children are damaged in a less severe and obvious way and dismissed as loons?

We don't know, we will never know. Until then I will vaccinate my children against harmful diseases. I will not give them non-essential vaccinations - it isn't that controversial.

Sunnyjac · 03/11/2018 18:08

Still?! No. No link

grabbit · 03/11/2018 18:09

er what?

Sashkin · 03/11/2018 18:10

No, grabbit.

“Arthralgia or arthritis may occur in up to 70% of adult women with rubella. Rare complications include thrombocytopenic purpura and encephalitis.”

www.cdc.gov/rubella/hcp.html

MrBirlingsAwfulWife · 03/11/2018 18:11

You should thank every other parent that has vaccinated their children grabbit because by doing so they have provide a far greater level of protection for your apparently precious but unvaccinated children than you have done.

How unbelievably selfish you are. Do you not understand that your children are benefitting from the actions of other parents but you are not willing to take any action yourself.

Thankfully the vast majority of parents are responsible and not self serving and selfish like you.
