Oh and an Intalian as a child, which my family went to quite a few times which I don’t understand as every time at least one person would get food poisoning. Last time I checked it was still open somehow!

Madbengalmum · 27/10/2018 16:29

Mawkish, me neither, I have come to the conclusion that they think it is a get put clause to avoid discounting. However, it is a guarantee that I would never ever return to anywhere that has this naff proceedure.I also think there arealot of people who get very excited by meeting Michelin starred chefs, I just don't get it!

TeddyIsaHe · 27/10/2018 16:31

Came on to say Wahaca Brixton. It was such a disappointment. The service was shit, and the food just so bad it was almost laughable. Took 30 minutes to get a bloody drink, should have left then but I’d eaten at the Stratford one and really enjoyed it.

Ignoramusgiganticus · 27/10/2018 16:31

Turtle bay. The food was not great and even worse they didn't even have wine for sale as the office had forgoten to order any!!!!

Celestia26 · 27/10/2018 16:33

A Chinese takeaway in Essex.

I got MSG syndrome about 5 minutes after starting to eat it. My throat swelled up and I came down with flu symptoms. It was awful.

We hadn't seen the place before ordering, just went by recommendations online, but I walked past it a few weeks later and it was the most horrible dirty looking place I've ever seen!

Whereisthecoffee · 27/10/2018 16:33

The zombie cocktails in turtle bay are good though.
misses point 😀

Frankie and Benny's in Lisburn. It was horrendous
I later found out that all their food is pre made and frozen. They just heat the shit up

LRDtheFeministDragon · 27/10/2018 16:34

The worst considering the price was Brown's in Oxford. I was getting married the next day so having a big dinner with the bridal party. We were assured we'd be put in an enclosed corner of the room where it was very quiet, which was important because my in-laws and parents didn't share a language and we knew there would be lots of translating going on.

Arrived and we were in the middle of the noisiest section, under a blaring speaker. No one came to take orders for food for over an hour (!), despite us flagging down multiple waiters who all said they'd send someone over immediately and, by the way, did we want more drinks. Hmm Asked multiple times for the speakers to be turned down; even though the waiters had trouble hearing us and each other, they refused.

Eventually got our food, all at different times and a lot of it wrong. Got the bill, which included things we'd not ordered.

We were there hours and it was awful. I'd have walked out, except I really don't know where else we'd have eaten - the whole group wouldn't have fit into my tiny flat, or ordering pizza would have been better.

twoheaped · 27/10/2018 16:34

Nando's anywhere.
Awful, over priced and over rated.

Panicmode1 · 27/10/2018 16:34

Jamie's Italian in Tunbridge Wells (since closed). I went with 6 friends soon after it opened. It was dire - cold, over salted, orders wrong, food left behind etc etc. I complained to the manager in writing and he offered us a replacement meal for 6 at a later date - I asked everyone what they wanted to do and 100% of us decided we never wanted to go again, even if it was free!

AiryFairyUnicornRainbow · 27/10/2018 16:35

Frankie and bennies....overpriced, tiny portions, staff that dont give a shit...whilst listening to HAPPY BIRTHDAY music every five minutes on full volume ....awful chain that is supposed to have the appearance of an authentic italian american resturant...

never again

SheDoneAlreadyDoneHadHerses · 27/10/2018 16:37

Turtle Bay Manchester - ordered the vegan salad for £10.50, got a quarter of a bag of rocket, 3 cubes of sweet potato, a smattering of carrot ribbons, a sixth of an avocado, and 2 blobs of hummus.

The cocktails are good though

TheFaerieQueene · 27/10/2018 16:38

Hand and Flowers, Marlow. Food was inedible it was so salty, service was crap, starter plates not cleared and main course arrived for example. I certainly won’t be back.

Serin · 27/10/2018 16:38

Dylan's (Menai Bridge).
Dirty glassware, Dirty cutlery, 2 people vomiting within 4 hours of eating their sea bass.
Shame as it is a lovely room and the staff were nice.

Wahaca (South bank) would come second.

Disfordarkchocolate · 27/10/2018 16:38

Northumberland pub famed for its local seasonal produce. Had to move from a table as my husband kept getting bumped into, we were moved from the restaurant to the breakfast area. Dull food, very dull veg and all the atmosphere of a motorway cafe. Complained and was offered a free meal, didn't take them up on it. And it was a present so we had to pretend it was nice to my in-laws.

Roussette · 27/10/2018 16:38

I don't get the Nando's love either. It's not cheap, the sauces are really not all that. And it's just chicken and chips isn't it...

Buxtonstill · 27/10/2018 16:41

Jamie Olivers. The food is so basic and bland. It tastes like a budget ready meal in my opinion.

Undercoverbanana · 27/10/2018 16:44

All chains. I’m always underwhelmed.

Love good pubs best. My favourite is a 4 mile walk each way and they do the best veggie food.

Chalkhillblu3 · 27/10/2018 16:44

Jamie's so-called Italian. Food like something I knocked up as a student. Over-matey staff, and quibbled a voucher we had. Plus everything served on a piece of floorboard (I blame him for starting this trend).

iklboogiemanunderthebed · 27/10/2018 16:45

I'm convinced we don cloaks of invisibility whenever we've been into a Frankie & Benny's. It takes ages for anyone to come and take any order (even drinks) and then they walk up and down past our table with what's clearly our order trying to find us, even though we're trying to flag them.

Loyaultemelie · 27/10/2018 16:45

shakethatass yes Halloween Envy

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/10/2018 16:47

DD went to Frankie&Benny's and there was a hair (not hers or her mates) in her milkshake. They were surprised that she decided to cancel her food order and were quite arsey .

TGIF - really noisy music (that was ok though) the most ludicrously tiny portions , and DD had her pudding delivered and eaten (I told her to start , it was ice-cream based) before the rest of us had ours.

But worst : a hotel in Bath. The owner flapped about like Basil bleedin' Fawlty. DH and I are vegetarian, I ordered something in mushroom sauce . It was in solid flakes , like fish. I called him over , it was frozen, the flakes were ice. It came back freshly microwaved and spreading all over my plate Hmm . Didn't even take the other things of, just micro'd the lot .

Letsgetreadytorumba · 27/10/2018 16:47

A Campanile in France, my chicken was still bleeding.

themagicamulet · 27/10/2018 16:47

Jamie's Italian in Guildford. Or possibly Canteen at the South Bank centre. Both dire and deserve to be shut down if they haven't already.

MawkishTwaddle · 27/10/2018 16:49

Oh God, I was taken by DS to one of those world buffet things.

Minging is not the word. I stuck to vegetarian options as the meat looked decidedly dodgy. I still had a bad stomach for a week afterwards, and I normally have the constitution of a lead donkey.

Dreadful.
