Please help me decide. Was a thread that I still believe is running about unique names and how awful they are and so on.

I want to avoid that. My last two names are Aurora and sapphire.
Please help me decide one.

And honest thoughts before it's to late to turn back.

Brutal honest opinions. Thanks Smile

Aurora is ok. shappire is not a a human name.

BonnieF · 26/10/2018 18:32

Come to think of it, Sapphire was also the name of a car. It was a Ford, I believe.

Portobellae · 26/10/2018 18:34

Sorry, but I dislike both names.

emss55 · 26/10/2018 18:34

She asked for brutal honesty we are just giving her that then she can choose what she wants.

AppleKatie · 26/10/2018 18:36

I agree with practically everyone else Aurora is the most palatable of the two. And Rory is a nice nickname that she can continue to use into adulthood.

SplishSplashSplosh · 26/10/2018 18:36

Sorry... I have to admit that I really don't like either and agree with a PP that they sound very My Little Pony

PippilottaLongstocking · 26/10/2018 18:37

Aurora is fine in theory except I struggle to say it, I sound like a seal (aur aur aur)

Sapphire nn saffie is lovely

Aquiver · 26/10/2018 18:43

Sapphire is a stripper name. Aurora is pretty and definitely the better of the two, but quite common now (much like Ariana / Aria).

moredoll · 26/10/2018 18:53

Sapphire

VinoEsmeralda · 26/10/2018 19:00

TGIF - cheers ladies

Aurora or sapphire?
Middersweekly · 26/10/2018 19:06

My daughter is called Sapphire (she was almost Saffron) She really suits her name. She shortens it to Saphy or Saph. My best friends daughter is called Aurora which I also like. It depends on the middle name and last name. My friends last name is very short (1 syllable) whereas my last name is 2 syllables. A name like Aurora would have been too much of a mouthful with our last name.

Pachaa · 26/10/2018 19:12

One of my DDs is often called “Safi” - short for Safia. It means “pure” in Arabic.

Sapphire will no doubt be shortened to Sapphi anyway. I know a girl Saffron who can also be known as Safi.

Sapphire to me, is a bit like the name Amber - you expect Amber eyes or Sapphire eyes to warrant the name! Having said this, I do like the name Ruby and I wouldn’t expect red eyes Grin

Aurora is nice but lots of people may find it tricky to pronounce, plus Rory is a boys name. I do like the boys name Ruari (sorry no help).

toomanyeastereggsurghh · 26/10/2018 19:15

Sapphire - definite stripper name, personally I would never use.

Aurora - better - nn Rory quite cute

Similar names I like - Arianna, Ariane, Aria, Astrid, Avery, Adeline, Adelaide, Amelie

DrPeppersPhD · 26/10/2018 19:17

Aurora

Sexnotgender · 26/10/2018 19:19

Neither, both are grim.

AliceRR · 26/10/2018 19:20

I love Aurora and it was my first choice for my daughter due next year but we are worried it is a bit too popular at the moment

It’s lovely and I love Rory, which I would shorten it too

Pachaa · 26/10/2018 19:20

Why are people saying Sapphire is a “stripper name” Confused Any reason? You could be a stripper called Claire.

I once knew two stunning twin girls with the most beautiful blonde hair and blue eyes and they were called Sapphire and India - Safi and Indi. I thought it really suited them both.

BatFacedOK · 26/10/2018 19:20

It's you again isn't it?

There's a poster who posts often about the name Sapphire - possible name regret I don't know. But I reckon this is the sapphire poster

marvellousnightforamooncup · 26/10/2018 19:23

I'd shorten Sapphire to Fire as a NN, quite cool.

Aurora is a nice name.

Choose what you like. People will always have their opinions on names so the rule is to never ask just tell people your choice. There's always someone saying the mean girl at school was that name, all * are bitches etc.

GMtoBe · 26/10/2018 19:24

Aurora definitely. It's on my list for our next baby. Sapphire is a horrible name.

Snipples · 26/10/2018 19:30

This thread reminds me of one a while ago where the OP was very upset as she had given her DD a stripper name and when asked what the name was said sapphire and everyone said it was lovely and to ignore nasty comments.

And then this thread "oh no, sapphires a stripper name".

Because yes, it is.

bumblebee39 · 26/10/2018 19:31

Aurora

Nitrostormi · 26/10/2018 19:32

I like the nick name Saffi but not so keen on Sapphire. Aurora is ok.

papayya · 26/10/2018 19:34

Aurora, beautiful!

catpooproblems · 26/10/2018 19:36

May I suggest Aurelia if you like Aurora?

No to sapphire
