War is peace.
Ignorance is strength.
Transwomen are women.
Freedom is slavery.
Four is five.
We have always been at war with Eastasia.

Feminist4 · 24/10/2018 18:07

Here we go again with Karen White. One bad cookie doesn’t mean they all are. Prisons need better risk assessments.

Elementtree · 24/10/2018 18:12

Karen White raped a pregnant woman. I wonder if that woman feels like vaginas, wombs and ovaries are an extraneous marker of womanhood?

RedToothBrush · 24/10/2018 18:16

Heres a good and simple risk assessment.

If you don't have male prisoners in a female prison they cant rape a woman.

SausageOnAFork · 24/10/2018 18:25

Come along girls. Get your sturdy pyjamas on.

SausageOnAFork · 24/10/2018 18:30

But by your logic Karen is a woman just like all the other women in the prison. So if Karen is a woman why shouldn’t Karen be in a woman’s prison.
This isn’t about Karen as an individual or Karen being ‘one bad apple’ its about how the logic of trans women are women doesn’t scale.
You can say trans women are women but not the rapey ones.
You can’t say that everyone who identifies at any time as a woman is a woman, but not the ones who identify as 6 year old girls and rape children while in that identity.

SaucyJack · 24/10/2018 18:33

“Prisons need better risk assessments”

How would a risk assessment help?

Either KW is a woman because he says so, and therefore needs to be in a women’s prison. Or he’s a man and needs to be with his fellow penis possessors.

They’re not gonna not put him in prison because he’s been convicted of a criminal offence, and therefore might pose a risk to fellow prisoners.

All prisoners have been convicted of a crime. That’s why they’re in there in the first place.

Feminist 4

The big lie is the one claiming that trans women are men dressing up to access these spaces.

Yet that isn't what everyone is saying.

  1. Predatory men will do anything to access their victims. The idea that they WON'T take advantage of self-id is ridiculous.
  1. No-one needs to dress up. Under self-id, you just need to 'feel' female in your head. Silly billy.
Marzipanface · 24/10/2018 18:36

Sausage Fork So many people don't seem to understand how law works. They really believe that you can legislate for the 'good ones'. It's bananas.

Racecardriver · 24/10/2018 18:38

Clearly this was either written by a man or by a childless woman who has been lucky enough not yet I experience any gynaecological problems.

AlphaBravo · 24/10/2018 18:43

"Because trans women are women."

Nope, try again. 😂

AlphaBravo · 24/10/2018 18:44

@feminist4 your Tim is showing 👋

SausageOnAFork · 24/10/2018 18:46

Childless woman here. I still have periods and smear tests.
Oh, and sexual assault.

LimpLettice · 24/10/2018 18:54

One bad cookie?

Have you seen Jacinta Brooks? Today's sentencing of the delightful Carrie Cooper? Tiffany Scott? Stephanie Mottershead? Those are just the ones off the top of my head. Still just 'one bad cookie'? All apparently women. And it's not just the women incarcerated with them at risk. What about Tiffany Scott insisting female guards do his internal searches? Female womanly 'kindness' can get to fuck.

RedToothBrush · 24/10/2018 18:58

Criminals tend to be the good ones don't they???
Hmm
Yes the logic of that one is mind boogling.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 24/10/2018 18:58

Well yes many childless women are childless precisely because of their gynaecological problems.

In fact you could argue that our reproductive systems are what drives almost all of our experiences as women that are distinct from men's experiences. That's what makes us different.

JacquesHammer · 24/10/2018 19:02

The voices I hear loudest are those of hate and vitriol from some women who choose not to accept trans women as women snd repeatedly call them men

The voice I heard loudest was someone saying a discussion surrounding miscarriage was excluding transwomen

Because trans women are women

No. Transwomen are transwomen

Youseethethingis · 24/10/2018 19:04

I am NOT ok with the cultural appropration of my vagina and associated female parts.

Is it not priceless to think that people like this actually came out of some poor Adult Human Female's (apparently irrelevant) vagina, and not a rock from a galaxy far, far away? Such horrendous disrespect.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 24/10/2018 19:36

I never post on these threads as they just go around in circles but I will post here to say I will vote for any party who stops this nonsense.

I respect anyone’s right to live the life they want bar doing criminal acts but a man can never be a woman. I will call any individual the name they prefer, not bat an eye lid on what they choose to wear, who they choose to have consensual sex with or how they present themselves to the world at large.

But I will never accept be called a cis woman or accept that a trans male is anything but a trans male. XX chromosomes = female
XY = male and only that determines a persons sex.

Henryismyfriend · 24/10/2018 20:37

Of course there will be women only spaces. The big lie is the one claiming that trans women are men dressing up to access these spaces. It’s vilifying transgender women.

It's not trans men dressing as women to gain access I have an issue with it's male predators using the self ID law to dress as women, say "I identify as a woman" and gain access LEGALLY to women only spaces - where women may be isolated and vulnerable How can true trans women also not be worried about this?
We know from research into serial killers, rapists and such that these predators will use any ruse that works - Ted Bundy used to use crutches to gain help to isolate and then abduct women. This is a concern to anyone using those spaces is it not?! It should be! Or do you think such predators will go "Oh, we won't use this wide open invitation to rape and murder because someone in the trans community doesn't think it'll happen"?? As far as I can see we should be working together to find a solution that doesn't put anyone at any more risk than they all ready are, be they trans women or born female or whatever you're supposed to refer to a woman as without offending someone!

@Feminist4

Here we go again with Karen White. One bad cookie doesn’t mean they all are. Prisons need better risk assessments.

One bad cookie? Someone else has listed some of the others, but this is happening, now. He's not a transwoman bad cookie, he's a predator who is using the self ID to gain access to women! And we aren't allowed to say that because it's transphobic? Utterly ridiculous, it's not transphobic it's living breathing penis owning proof that a predator will use this law for their own ends!

seeingdots · 24/10/2018 20:50

Yes because women's issues have pretty much nothing to do with our physiology. Nothing at all to do with pregnancy and childbearing, rape and sexual assault, menstruation, menopause, objectification of our (female) bodies.... Hmm

RatUnholyRolyPoly · 24/10/2018 20:53

Ha. Some randomer said something stupid and offensive on Facebook. Hold the front page.

...or you could screenshot it, post it on mumsnet and cry about the state of the world today. But that would be a pretty insane thing to do with some completely random Facebook comment that could have been written by a five year old on a sugar high or super-intelligent goat in a Nepalese cyber cafe.

NoodleEatingPoodle · 24/10/2018 21:20

... Or someone acting as admin on a page representing the Labour Party.

Feminist4 · 24/10/2018 21:23

You are vilifying all trans people and denying them rights because of vicious crimes by a few people. It isn't right. All people need protection from harmful violence, but you overestimate the numbers of 'men dressing up as women' and it is damaging trans people. You are trashing them and their reputations as you lump them together and it's not acceptable. Even if you think you make a distinction, you aren't.

RedToothBrush · 24/10/2018 21:25

Some randomer said something stupid and offensive on Facebook. Hold the front page.

Except it wasn't a random. It was someone representing the Labour Party (albeit in an unofficial capacity) and controlling debate within Labour Party circles. Which is kinda important and powerful when you are talking about politics which is all about debating.

But yeah minimise it if you want, everyone else can see if for what it is. You minimising it as nothing actually makes it look worse.
