Don’t get het up about a few desperate angry trans women. The majority are reasonable and should e accepted and not vilified.
We are talking about a woman who thinks other women should be silenced for sharing a story by a former chair of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission because its 'offensive'.
Thats not anything to do with vilification. Thats to do with not wanting to hear a measured response based on human rights principles that they happen to disagree with.
Thats about an affront to the democratic process which allows discussion so groups which might be suspicious of each other can work through those issues, and decrease ignorance and increase acceptance and tolerance.
The effect of censorship of this level of ridiculousness is to get people's backs up, and fuel resentment and hostility. It forces a position where reasonable voices are drowned out.
But yes, do go on about how everyone here should STFU...
Also, just because you are not feeling the effects of this, doesn't mean other women aren't feeling it. That comment smacks of nothing but 'I'm alright jack'. Would you say that to the transwidows or lesbians on MN in person, whilst keeping a straight face? Or is their experience irrelevant or not as important as yours somehow?
