Unfortunately biology is the argument because everything else is subjective. What is gender? It is a feeling apparently defined by whoever shouts the loudest. What is a man or a woman, anyone who self identifies as one. Therfore the one constant is biology female xx male xy this is cobstant (apart from a very few individuals).
Woman have a right, to have their say in this debate (the one from which they are all too often cut) after all it is women who will be giving up their rights. Our biology means that there are so many life challenges that cannot be faced or understood fully by biologically male people.
The argument that all women who disagree with self id are TERFs is insulting, it is also about silencing us, something that we have experienced too often in time.
Personally i want this debate to happen in public. I want genuine debate not silenced by militants with an agenda. This is a big thing and everyperson in the uk has a right to a say on this before the government change/remove anymore protections from under our noses.

As for the biology argument, it’s so last year ...

😂

KataraJean · 25/10/2018 22:29

I am sorry but the screenshot in the OP 🤦‍♀️🤣🤣🤣
The problem is some people believe it.

ToPlanZ · 25/10/2018 22:30

Did I miss something? Did biology cease to exist last year? Grin

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 22:30

It is. Science is wrecking your argument.

www.scientificamerican.com/article/sex-redefined-the-idea-of-2-sexes-is-overly-simplistic1/

TheGlitterFairy · 25/10/2018 22:35

Good God - utter drivel and completely absurd.

ButchyRestingFace · 25/10/2018 22:38

And why - stupid question maybe - are trans men not behaving in the same way? Why is it the trans women lobby which is so strong?

Because trans men are women.

This is just mysogynism through the front door. By men. As usual.

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 22:40

Ignore the research - it suits your erroneous arguments.

RedToothBrush · 25/10/2018 22:46

Which science would this be?

Sorry pseudo science

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 22:47

Doesn’t look pseudo to me. Would you care to tell me on what basis you label this pseudo science?

RedToothBrush · 25/10/2018 22:52

Oh look out its the intersex argument

Avegemitesandwich · 25/10/2018 22:54

That article is about people with intersex conditions? Confused

ButchyRestingFace · 25/10/2018 22:56

Oh look out its the intersex argument

Not only that, but an assumption by the poster that they are imparting some kind of newsflash. Wink

nonetworkaccess · 25/10/2018 22:58

Can Feminist4 tell me how she'd react if a man dressing as a woman purely in order to access female-only spaces assaulted her child?

categed · 25/10/2018 23:05

It's an interesting article, not a peer reviews scientific paper that explores intersex and that humans can carry some male and female chromosomes in their bodies. It does not however claim what if any impact these chromosomes may have.
Whilst interesting it does not at present support, that all people who will identify as trans and therfore able to self id, will have these mixed chromosomes or that they impact on their sex in any way.

Scientific American is one of the most reputable science magazines. It referred to a number if peer reviewed studies. Look them up. It does not only mention intersex. You need to read it more carefully.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/10/2018 23:07

What a load of crap, sounds like trolls. A Transwoman cannot speak about: women's diseases. As they only affect female anatomy(breast cancer, womb cancer, cervical cancer), they cannot speak about rape, violence against women, discrimination against women, amongst so many other issues. What a bloody insult.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/10/2018 23:08

It's basically saying biological men know the issues affecting bio women, and how they feel.

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 23:10

Oh, so if a male scientist makes discoveries that don’t suit your arguments, it can be disregarded. How convenient.

ButchyRestingFace · 25/10/2018 23:13

You did read Categed's post, didn't you?

ToPlanZ · 25/10/2018 23:14

What's astonishing about this is that Labour don't seem to realise that there are an awful lot of women, normal everyday women, women with kids, women with jobs, single women, married women, gay women who find their concerns about women voices being silenced really rather worrying. It's fine to scream transphobia repeatedly when these concerns are raised. It's fine to dismiss the latent misogyny in the belief is that someone born biologically male can don a dress, wig and make up suddenly embody the female experience. It's fine to dismiss the many many women that post on mumsnet as bigots. It's fine to delete all the posts that disagree with them off their Facebook page. However they do seem to have forgotten that these very women have a right to vote. If labour cannot willingly protect the needs and rights of millions of potential women voters then they will not get their votes and rightly so. I'm not sure what alternatives there are but I'm off to check out the Women's Equality Party.

Feminist4 · 25/10/2018 23:18

I don’t think categed’s post said anything worth replying to.

Aeroflotgirl · 25/10/2018 23:20

A biological born man he no idea of the female experience, Southey cannot talk for natal women, only the trans women issues and agenda.

Noqont · 25/10/2018 23:25

Oh look out its the intersex argument

😂 The intersex argument really is sooo last year.
