...to buy Christmas presents from Aldi's wtf aisle

What the title says really. I really love Aldi and their wtf aisle every week. I've since converted my husband who is now equally if not more excited at the workshop range of goodies.

Anyways they've got some great pots, and candles and quilts which I think would make great presents but would people judge me as cheap? (Last year the Christmas desserts I've taken to my in laws have always gone down well and they only eat m and s)

I love the aisle of wonder. I find woodworking projects for DH and when he objects because we don't have X tool, I'll come across it sooner or later.

So do it. I'd be delighted with a belt sander for Christmas Grin

If it's random tat and clutter then it's tat and clutter whether it's from the tat isle at Aldi or some artisan quirky pop up shop.

That's what I said, applies to any gift from anywhere, nothing to do with Aldi.

Oddsocksforeveryone · 23/10/2018 22:02

I spent £80 online yesterday on wooden toy special buys for dd's christmas . A blue wooden shopping trolley was just too tempting. If it was after payday Id've spent double that, I'm hoping it doesn't all disappear the first day as a lot of it sold out so fast online.

This thread is hilarious!

I love the centre aisle of joy.. Such fun, our local Aldi had all its uniform (loads of it too) reduced to stupid prices, £1.50 for 2 dresses for example. Shame only navy and black left, would've bought all the grey they had..

LuggsaysNotaWomen · 23/10/2018 22:09

I call it either Treasuer Aisle-land or the Aisle of Wonderous Delights. It’s like a proper treat to go without the kids and peruse the baskets-o-shite undisturbed.

You can get some reet brilliant stuff there and if it’s a nice pressie, who cares where it came from.

7Days · 23/10/2018 22:09

Chiming in to recommend the Ballad of lidl and aldi. Can't link but it's on youtube and worth it :) he sings what were all saying

BitOfFun · 23/10/2018 22:11

There was a proper horse blanket in ours today. If I knew anyone with a horse I'd totally buy it for them.

Gemz1806 · 23/10/2018 22:14

Its called the aisle of mystery in this house! And of course your not! Its stuff we all need but didn't know we did! I'd love an aisle of mystery hamper, slippers, hot sauce, tool box, begginers guide to felting and a candle! Whats not to love about that!! 😂😂

ILoveDolly · 23/10/2018 22:15

Every year at Easter and Christmas I look forward to my SIL chocolate gift, always from Aldi, always delish. My other in laws commented recently they don't know how she can afford such posh chocs, lol, I didn't spill her secret.

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 24/10/2018 05:43

BikeRunSki I'm even more Envy now.

BikeRunSki · 24/10/2018 05:53

Philomena You can buy the Aldi random stuff online! wtf website, but it’s not as much fun as going out for bread Nd fruit and coming back with a wetsuit and a marble run.

user1483387154 · 24/10/2018 05:57

Oh I love the aisle of shame. I might have bought and inflatable canoe from there during the summer Grin

MrsExpo · 24/10/2018 06:09

Just lol at calling it the wtf aisle ....... Grin Grin .......

Definitely go for it ..... why not?

On a side note ...... some of you have a Aldi with 6 wtf aisles .... ARGH! I feel robbed ...... ours only has one.

Monty27 · 24/10/2018 06:10

Pmsl at the grave candle. Well it's all.hallows soon Grin Halloween Grin

MaisyPops · 24/10/2018 06:28

Cambalamb
Not any gift.
Just any gift that's more about that impersonal stocking filler vibe.

The issue with the wtf aisle/mystery aisle etc is that because things are cheaper people can find themselves spending a fortune on lots of little knick knack presents and get caught up in 'oh so and so must love a set of Christmas gardening gloves made of thin material which you'll get spiked through anyway, and I'll just get a reed diffuser too for them as that's a bargain'.
Before you know it the gift giver has spent £20 on tat which is almost no use to the recipient.

Middle aisle gifts are great if they are something the person wants.

MaisyPops · 24/10/2018 06:32

7Days
That's spot on!
Power generators, drills, aged beef steak, German jam Grin

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 24/10/2018 06:38

I got a black cherry candle from the aisle de crap (as we call it) last week, and it's as good as the Yankee Candle version, but about £6 cheaper (it's the small jar size). I buy all DS2s party presents from there (he's in Reception, and it's party central), lovely wooden toys for a couple of quid. Crack on!

motortroll · 24/10/2018 06:42

Love it!

I get presents from wherever has the best things I need so if Aldi fits why not?

Not a gift but I got my daughter some amazing new wellies there yesterday. Really good quality and actually wide enough for her giant feet!

Shame they don't fit my runners calves cow I'd have had some too!!

We're a dainty family

CandyflossKid · 24/10/2018 06:53

We have an Aldi that has been built literally round the corner (5 minute walk away). I quite often wander round there for milk and fruit etc but then have to phone dh to drive round to collect me as I've bought too much to carry from the wtf aisle.

Fluffyears · 24/10/2018 08:43

We call it le aisle de crap. DH takes mil to
Get her shopping at Aldi every week and texts me then comes home with random Shite. Although I have a great steamer pan and wok from there. My wok is a lovely teal colour.

grumpymummy72 · 24/10/2018 09:38

Aisle of wonder here!

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 24/10/2018 10:56

We bought our huge mixer from the aisle of crap about four years ago and still going strong.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 24/10/2018 10:59

Btw the Lidl chocolate biscuit boxes are bk in for Christmas now.

Ecofluffynanny · 24/10/2018 11:03

I bloody love Aldi...probably because I lived in Germany for 8 years 😂. I'd be thrilled receiving a present from the WTF aisle...it's like a HUGE box of surprises every week...and who doesn't love a surprise (especially when it's half the price of the exact same thing in Tesco!)

Shop away OP...shop away 👍
