How long between waking up and leaving house?

Generally, I give myself two hours to drink coffee, do my hair (I have very long, thick hair which I blow dry into submission) and makeup. I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara) but I do like to take my time. It does feel like a massive waste of time though but I guess I enjoy the "me" time..

Also, if my hair is "clean"/looking decent it cuts my time down to 1 hr 10ish.

Yes I have no kids..yet.

Alarm goes off at 7 get straight up, leave at 8.20. Reading all these posts have reminded me of the stresses of trying to leave the house with young DC in tow! Thankfully it's just me now :)

heroineinahalfshell · 22/10/2018 21:04

90 minutes. I get up, have a shower, do makeup and hair and then make lunch while the kettle is boiling, then spend 25 - 20 mins having a leisurely breakfast. No kids but 2 cats to feed and litter to clean, and I usually have time to unload the dishwasher and hang out laundry if I've put a wash on overnight.
I could get ready in less than 45 minutes if pushed, but I much prefer a leisurely start and feeling like a few jobs have been done before I head out of the house.

Passthecake30 · 22/10/2018 21:05

Pre kids I had a leisurely start and procrastinated around the house doing "jobs" but really just putting off the inevitable.

Now it takes me about 1hr 20 mins to change the rabbits litter trays, feed the rabbits, do 3 lunches, make kids and my breakfast and eat it, peel potatoes/load dishwasher etc, do dds hair, nag kids and get dresses. About 15 mins of the time is allocated to me getting ready. The rest of the time I am waiting on others and nagging and nagging...

April2020mom · 22/10/2018 21:16

I have a hour to get everyone breakfast. I prefer to make the lunch the night before and tell everyone to get dressed quickly as well. My stepdaughter helps her siblings to brush their hair and teeth and eat some breakfast.
I shower and then I grab lunch from the fridge and leave. Breakfast is eaten on the way to work. I don’t have a set routine it depends.

ToPlanZ · 22/10/2018 21:18

20 minutes. Hair tied up wet, no time for coffee or breakfast. Got to get the car out on the road at 6.50 to beat the 7am rush. Certainly no make up, because if people don't like my face as it is, sod em!

clowdyweewee · 22/10/2018 21:23

Get up at 6 and leave at around 7.15. Just me, so I shower, make tea, feed and fuss my cat, watch some Classic Corrie etc DH starts work later than me and gets up when I'm leaving. I like the time to myself.

Mummaloves · 22/10/2018 21:37

I get up at 6.00am, shower, full make up on, hair straightened or put up, dogs fed, coffee made to take with me. Leave at 6.40am

Wallywobbles · 22/10/2018 21:37

Up at 6, and all 6 of us in car by 6.55am. DH and kids 3&4 get up at 6.20.

Imustbemad00 · 22/10/2018 21:48

I’m in awe of people with kids that do it in an hour!
I need an hour and a half. 2 hours of my hair needs washing.
Get up sit down for 10mins and have some cereal. Get ds up. Make ds breakfast. Do a bit of make up, brush teeth and hair. Have a tidy up and put a wash on so not so much to do after work. Get ds dressed and ready. Leave.

TulipsInBloom1 · 22/10/2018 21:49

Up at 7am, leave the house with two small dc at 7.55am.

overagain · 22/10/2018 21:51

Shower, clean teeth, dress, make up, leave. Add 5 minutes if I need to dry my hair and another 5 to dress DS if I do that.

I get to work an hour early and have coffee and breakfast at work. I can't eat first thing for many reasons, including medication.

GeoEm · 22/10/2018 21:52

Anywhere between 10 mins on a lazy day just going to shops or uni, an hour on a day I have an effort and have work. On average maybe around 45 mins for wash, coffee, hair, nice outfit and pretty glam makeup.

Tunnocks34 · 22/10/2018 21:58

An hour. But only 30 minutes is getting myself ready. I never wash my hair in the morning, it’s thick and curly and takes around 3 hours to style so I do it in the evenings and just brush in the morning. Very quick shower and then make up takes 20 minutes. I spend around half an hour making breakfast for my and my sons and OH whist he makes the beds (or if he’s making breakfast then I am making the beds).
Hot brew in a flask, grab a cereal bar and a banana and I’m off

user1486076969 · 22/10/2018 22:01

40 mins (DS now too old to need including in this calculation)...

Tunnocks34 · 22/10/2018 22:01

Saturdays I can be up and out in 5 minutes. I don’t shower Saturdays as I have a long bath in the evenings so I literally baby wipe my face, brush my teeth and shove my hair up. No make up, no faffing. Normally in activewear too

smallchanceofrain · 22/10/2018 22:07

20 minutes if I just have myself to get ready. 50 minutes if it's a school / work day and I have to make sure everyone else is ready.

MrsPinkCock · 22/10/2018 22:20

25 mins. 15 mins for wash, hair and make up. 10 minutes to make coffee for the car, pet the dog and lock the house up.

I have teenagers now though who sort their own stuff out in the morning and DH does the school run. I needed 90 minutes when they were younger.

DD needs 90 minutes to two hours, apparently because she needs to straighten her hair Hmm

VanGoghsDog · 22/10/2018 23:30

45 mins, but I am a VERY slow morning person.

Get up 6.15am
No tea or breakfast (I'd need the loo on the train if I had a drink before leaving). So, loo, shower, hair wash, face wash, rinse hair. That's about ten mins.
Wrap up and sit and stare into space for a little while.
Teeth. Deo, spray.
6.30am
Bedroom, get dressed, do skin care.
6.45am
Blow dry hair. Make up = sun block, CC cream, concealer, powder. Wash hands and clean glasses.

Downstairs, fill drink bottle, pack snacks, check bag etc.
Leave by 6.55am in theory, usually more like 7am (must be 6.55am tomorrow as have to pick up ticket and two ticket machines were out of order this am and have a meeting with one of the exec at 9am so can't be late).

wishywashy6 · 22/10/2018 23:47

Wake up between 7-7.30
20 minutes dragging kids out of bed/ dressing the octopus on steroids 5 year old

10 minutes to feed dog/ throw cereal at kids

20 minutes to have a brew/ put on some clothes/ make myself look less like a zombie

On a good day I might brush my hair

8.20 tell kids to put their shoes on
8.22 tell kids to put their shoes on a bit louder
8.23 tell kids to put their shoes on with a kind of batshit crazy look in eyes
8.25 at least one child announces they need a poo/ drink/ model of Ancient Rome built entirely of cereal boxes
8.27 tell kids to put their shoes on
8.29 lose my shit
8.30 kids put shoes on & we leave the house

SushiMonster · 22/10/2018 23:50

I have a massive range!

If I have an early flight or train - 20 mins (shower the night before and lay out all clothes etc so just get up and go, eat on travel)

Normal work day 45-60 mins to get up, wash, dress, wake up and be a bit slow, have breakfast and get out.

Weekend - I like 2 hours from wake up to getting out of the house.

SushiMonster · 22/10/2018 23:51

30 mins on a normal work day if I don't have breakfast at home

Sunflowers79 · 22/10/2018 23:54

Up at 7, leave house at 8:15 with 3 eight year olds.

Pack lunches, sort uniforms and school bags the night before.

Usually spend 20mins drinking coffee and chatting with DP. Quick shower, hair in mum-bun and slick of lipstick. Done. Kids can make their own breakfasts thankfully.

ImogenTubbs · 23/10/2018 00:11

I work from home so neverrrr!!!! But seriously, ideally two hours - family breakfast, shower, dressed, face (sometimes) make sure DD is ready, feed the dog. Then I leave to take DD to school at the same time as DH takes the dog for a walk. Often ends up being an hour though coz we are rubbish at getting out of bed.

WelcomeToGreenvale · 23/10/2018 00:39

Alarm at 7:15, leave at 7:50. 5 minutes to dress, 5 to do makeup, 5 to get lunch and other items into my bag - the rest of that is probably just browsing twitter while on the toilet!

I'm surprised that someone like OP (and me) with long, thick hair needs to wash it every day. I wash mine twice a week at most, it gets so incredibly greasy if I do more than that. At it's best 3 days in, easy to style.

AllViewsMyOwn · 23/10/2018 08:25

About 20 mins. I wash my hair in the evening though, if I had to wash and dry it as well it would probably be about 40 mins.
