How long between waking up and leaving house?

Generally, I give myself two hours to drink coffee, do my hair (I have very long, thick hair which I blow dry into submission) and makeup. I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara) but I do like to take my time. It does feel like a massive waste of time though but I guess I enjoy the "me" time..

Also, if my hair is "clean"/looking decent it cuts my time down to 1 hr 10ish.

Yes I have no kids..yet.

Usually 1hr give or take, only me to get ready.
I start work at 7 and try not to wake dd as she doesn't need to get up til 8 so have to be quiet ish, in a small flat that's difficult!
I do like to have breakfast though so that takes up half the time plus feeding the moggys/hamsters and emptying litter trays/bins, putting in washing to finish by the time im home again.

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2018 19:00

About 45 minutes.

GreenShadow · 22/10/2018 19:01

Hour and a quarter on work days. Alarm goes off at 7am. Relatively leisurely breakfast and Sudoku and no rush to be out by 8.15. But if I had to, I could do it easily in about 45 mins.

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 22/10/2018 19:01

2 hours and 25 minutes, but I need my "me" time, and I have 2 DC to organise.

AlphaBravo · 22/10/2018 19:02

22 minutes including shower and getting 17m changed, dressed and out with me too.

autumnnightsaredrawingin · 22/10/2018 19:05

Two school age DC, work part time, school and work close to home.

On work days I like to give myself two hours to get everyone up, breakfast, get myself ready for work and tidy up and put washing etc on before work.

On my non work days I only allow an hour max as I can then come home and sort the house out etc.

JustfiedandAncient · 22/10/2018 19:09

20 mind Blush

PhilomenaDeathsHeadHawkMoth · 22/10/2018 19:09

Oh, after half term, add 50 minutes every Tuesday for DD to leave for her SATs booster, DS2 and I will still leave at the normal time.

Faster · 22/10/2018 19:10

Work days when DS is at his dads and I don’t have to sort him out it’s about ten mins. Wash, teeth, dressed. Don’t wear make up for work and I don’t have to style my hair as I have to wear a hat.
On days when DS is home and needs to get up with me then it’s about 30 mins, I leave him asleep as long as possible.

Ideally I like a couple of hours between getting up & leaving the house, & I don't even shower or do my hair Grin. I am a 'morning person' & I like a leisurely breakfast, catch up with the news & emails, Mumsnet, a few chores etc. I have a very short commute to work so I tend to get up at 6.30 & leave at 8.30. I can be ready in 20 mins if I am catching a plane or something urgent but I only need 5-6 hours sleep & hate lying in bed once I am awake so always happy to get up.

megletthesecond · 22/10/2018 19:13

Usually 2 hours. Thanks IBS Hmm.

Juanbablo · 22/10/2018 19:16

I like an hour to get myself and 3 DC's ready on the school mornings I have to leave early. On regular mornings we have 2 hours. Tomorrow we have to leave at 7 for a football thing so I will get up at 6 to get myself ready and get the kids up at 6:30.

Ollivander84 · 22/10/2018 19:25

An hour and 15 but that's including sitting with a brew!
No chance I can wash my hair in the morning, it takes around 1hr to diffuse or over 24hrs to air dry

Ollivander84 · 22/10/2018 19:29

I should add what I actually do
6am get up, into kitchen, sit with brew and check a couple of websites (job related)
6.20am shower and makeup
6.45am make porridge, eat that, get dressed, clean teeth, tie hair up
7am grab lunch out of fridge, check bag, feed cat
7.15am leave house

wowfudge · 22/10/2018 19:32

Two hours here too. I feed the cats, make coffee, read news, do a couple of chores like empty the dishwasher/sort laundry/clean the bathroom or downstairs loo. Then I shower, get dressed and do my make up. I like to take my time and potter a bit. I love mornings.

BrokenWing · 22/10/2018 19:32

Up at 5:25, loo, shower, teeth, dry/straighten hair, dressed, quick glass of water and out house by 6:00.

grannycake · 22/10/2018 19:33

I'm another one who gets up at about 4.30 (another thing they don't tell you about the menopause). I drink coffee, do any banking, read news online, put a load of washing in or prep dinner, pack lunch and out at about 7.30

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 22/10/2018 19:33

Exactly one hour from alarm at 0630 to leaving house at 0730. Shower, dry, dress, wake DC, put on makeup, dry hair. Make coffee, sort out DC breakfast while listening to flash briefing on the Alexa. Drink coffee. Put on shoes. Make tracks!

oblada · 22/10/2018 19:42

i wake up at 6.30am and we leave at 8.30am for school runs and then i go straight to work. So 2hours. Thats getting up, shower, get Kids up and dress (3 of them under 8), breakfast for all, clean up after breakfast, and then go. Its plenty of time most mornings but sometimes things go a bit tits up and its a rush. Usually i can fit in getting a wash in or out, cleaning up dishes, general house cleaning, sorting out some homework and the kids usually have 30mins + of play time which i love as they seem to play well together (most mornings!). if i woke up later we would 1) not see DH much as he leaves around 7am-7.15am and 2) rush and i hate rushing in the morning...

cl61reb · 22/10/2018 19:44

With hair wash = 30mins
Without hair wash = 15mins

DragonMamma · 22/10/2018 19:48

First alarm goes off at 6am, and then I snooze for 18 minutes (thank you Apple, for your odd timings!) and then I get up at 6.20 for a shower, wash hair, make up etc.

If I’m wearing my hair up I can get up at 6.30am but it looks shit.

I am out of the door by 7am at the latest. No drink or breakfast. Possibly grab lunch I’ve prepped the night before but generally not (too tired from the early starts). I have a cup of tea and breakfast when I get to work.

LittleCandle · 22/10/2018 19:49

I get up at 6.30 and am out of the door just before 8.30. I am not good at mornings, so like to take my time. I shower about 7.30, then empty the dishwasher and put out the recycling before leaving. I used to get up about 6 because I had the dog to walk, too, but I don't have to do that now, someone else does it instead.

megletthesecond · 22/10/2018 19:50

This thread is kind of confirming what I suspected about having IBS. It takes up an awful lot of my time, I'll be on the loo three times before I leave the house. And this is good compared to before I went gluten free.
On the odd occasion I don't get to the loo enough then I end up with problems later in the day.

lynmilne65 · 22/10/2018 19:51

6 minutes when working as a Breakfast Chef !

Tisfortired · 22/10/2018 19:52

On a work day I wake at 6:15 and out of the house by 7:30.

In that time I feed the kid, lay out uniform, do my teeth/straighten or style hair/make up/get dressed, get kid dressed feed self make coffee for my flask and out the door!
