How long between waking up and leaving house?

Generally, I give myself two hours to drink coffee, do my hair (I have very long, thick hair which I blow dry into submission) and makeup. I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara) but I do like to take my time. It does feel like a massive waste of time though but I guess I enjoy the "me" time..

Also, if my hair is "clean"/looking decent it cuts my time down to 1 hr 10ish.

Yes I have no kids..yet.

15/20 mins including shower drying hair make up etc

MrsTumbletap · 22/10/2018 19:55

6:50 wake up
7:00 dressed
7:10 make up done
7:25 hair done
7:30 coffee in a flask and go
(Shower and the night before)

So 40 mins.

But I am very organised, the outfit is hung up ready for the next day, the coffee is mixed in the flask just need the hot water, bag all packed etc.

MelanieCheeks · 22/10/2018 19:56

I like an hour, but can get out in twenty mins if required.

Yerroblemom1923 · 22/10/2018 19:58

2hrs 40. Wake at 6am and leave house at 8.40am

Popsicales · 22/10/2018 20:00

I get up at 6am and leave the house at 7:55, drop DS off at nursery and then I either sit in the car outside work and mumsnet or have a brew in the staff room before getting started.

At 6am when I get up I like to sit and have a child free brew. Then my 18 month old and 5 month old wake up, DP comes home from his night shift and I will sit downstairs with them all for about 40 minutes. I go up to do my makeup, hair, sort lunch etc. And DP gets the DC ready.

In the school holidays or weekends I still get up at 6am and try to get out walking the dog before DP goes to bed at 9am.

Hillarious · 22/10/2018 20:03

One hour twenty this morning, but that included a shower, hanging out the washing, making a packed lunch for DS, kneading the sourdough bread and waiting for the Christmas cake to come out of the oven.

Gwenhwyfar · 22/10/2018 20:09

Almost 2 hours as well, quite a bit of that spent on here.
I'd be really moody if I just got up and went. Need time to wake up properly.

Curlyshabtree · 22/10/2018 20:12

2 hours, this includes time spent reading the news with a cuppa and chatting with the kids. Hate rushing but could be out the door in 20 minutes if I had to.

Escolar · 22/10/2018 20:16

45 mins to get me and three DC from sleeping to put the door.

naivetyisthenewblack · 22/10/2018 20:18

40 minutes, bed to door.

Get up, get DC up, feed DC, get DC dressed, everybody cleans teeth & washed face & hands.

Find missing book bag / water bottle / shoes / whatever.

Remember school slip / swimming kit / mufti day / whatever

Put up DD's hair. Scrape own hair back into half presentable style.

Leave house.

Done.

Drink coffee on return before starting work.

Iseveryusernametaken · 22/10/2018 20:19

@2b1c51 the panics I had when my DD was little and CBeebies messed with the schedule 🤣

KimPossible101 · 22/10/2018 20:20

Anywhere from 10 minutes to 2-3.5 hours (including the gym across the street). Depends on how free or late I am - sometimes it's "out of bed - out of door".

Fstar · 22/10/2018 20:23

Aboht 1hr 15. Love a long shower to wake me up, dry hair, skincare but no makeup coz i normally cant be arsed, dressed and grab something to eat and drink at worm and out the door. I find if i put tv on or radio it distracts me and makes me late.

weloveheyduggee · 22/10/2018 20:26

3-4 hours! Wow had no idea other people got up and left the house so quick?! We do have a toddler DS who gets up early, but even when I was a teenager/ student I'd get up with that amount of time. I like to have a leisurely coffee, I do all housework in the morning, get things organised. I'd feel stressed with anything less than that. I'm obviously the only one! (Oh, and I go to bed early!)

naivetyisthenewblack · 22/10/2018 20:34

weloveheyduggee 4 hours?! Shock

What time do you leave the house?

maddiemookins16mum · 22/10/2018 20:34

90 mins. I potter in the mornings plus will do a wash or prep dinner/brush through or even do an online shop. I’m still at my desk at 8am.

DitheringBlidiot · 22/10/2018 20:40

No kids, 35 minutes with basic make up and a hair wash, left to dry naturally. 25 if not washing my hair. 15-20 if doing make up in my hair. I’d have to get up at 3.30ish to have anywhere near 2 hours to get ready, though I like to get up and go for work.. the longer I sit around and think about it the harder it makes it to go

DitheringBlidiot · 22/10/2018 20:41

Should say, doing make up in the car (passenger) not in my hair 🙄

userabcname · 22/10/2018 20:42

55 minutes. DH gets DS his breakfast while I dress/wash then we swap and I get DS dressed and have my breakfast. Mostly we all shower/bath the night before and DS's bag is packed and ready to go, as is mine.

Skyejuly · 22/10/2018 20:44

I get up at 6.45 and leave at 7.40
Thats me ready and 4 kids all ready dressed and fed.

happypoobum · 22/10/2018 20:46

No kids at home any more.

Up between 6 and 6.15 and leave house between 7.30 and 8 depending on where I am working.

Early morning is my favourite part of the day. I would feel really cheated if I got up and had to go to work 20 minutes later.

DinosApple · 22/10/2018 20:46

I can be up and out of the house in 15 minutes - like today when I had to stand in for DH at work as he was unwell on my day off. I don't do breakfast and had a shower last night, a shower, blow dry and make up would take an extra 15 minutes.

Getting everyone else up, dressed, breakfasted and lunches made, an hour.

Frlrlrubert · 22/10/2018 20:48

35 minutes on a nursery day (DD eats breakfast at nursery, I eat mine in the car), 20 minutes if DH is taking her and I just have to sort myself. I shower and pack the night before, and don't wear makeup.

Cachailleacha · 22/10/2018 20:49

An hour to get up, feed cat, get ready for the day, have a cooked breakfast and coffee, brush teeth, and out the door.

MonsterKidz · 22/10/2018 20:53

I’m with you OP. I like 2 hours and like you most of that is coffee/news etc. but I do also have 2 DC to get ready as well.

I shower every morning and wag hair every other day. On hair drying days, I’d say an hour is spent on me. On non hair washing days, it’s down to half an hour.

Bloody hate having to blow dry my hair but needs must...
