How long between waking up and leaving house?

Generally, I give myself two hours to drink coffee, do my hair (I have very long, thick hair which I blow dry into submission) and makeup. I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara) but I do like to take my time. It does feel like a massive waste of time though but I guess I enjoy the "me" time..

Also, if my hair is "clean"/looking decent it cuts my time down to 1 hr 10ish.

Yes I have no kids..yet.

40 minutes. I start work at 7am so if I took 2 hours I would have to get up at 4.30...

DunesOfSand · 22/10/2018 09:18

DH 1 hr.
Me plus kids 70 min (including lunch boxes).
I then come back home at 7.30am, and sort out the trail of destruction that has been left. And some days i havnt yet had a shower at that point.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 22/10/2018 09:20

Your mornings sound pretty nice OP and if you're not tired because you've got up early I don't see a problem, I'd rather be in bed Grin

dancemom · 22/10/2018 09:28

Amazed at these people who can leave the house so quickly!

Up at 6.30, dry body brush, 15 minutes exercise program, into the shower
Out of shower, moisturise, make breakfast, eat breakfast, pack up lunch which I made the night before
Back into bedroom, dress, do make up, dry and straighten hair
Sort bag, leave house at 8am

No way could I do it in any less!

Xuli · 22/10/2018 09:28

1 hour for me - shower, hair, make up - and two DC. I can do it in 30 mins if it's just me. Though I do miss being able to drink my coffee and watch some telly for 20 mins like I used to pre-DC

sofato5miles · 22/10/2018 09:31

50 mins to get the three kids and me up and out. In that time two of them manage 10 minutes each of piano as well.

fanfan18 · 22/10/2018 09:32

Probably 15 minutes on work mornings!

I always shower after work rather than before, rarely wear make up unless I have meetings.

In my 20's I could be up and out in about 5 minutes!

My Mum is similar to a PP - she likes a good couple of hours to start the day before having to leave the house.

tiggerkid · 22/10/2018 09:32

Usually need an hour.

butcherswife · 22/10/2018 09:32

About an 1hr 15 and that includes walking the dog and feeding the horses before work. Fortunately my commute to work is about 5 mins which makes life a lot easier.

I have to be organised though and shower and blowdry hair the night before and make sure lunches/breakfast smoothie for the following day are ready.

Aviana · 22/10/2018 09:32

1 1/2 - 2 hours depending when DS wakes up.
Homework reading - each child 10 minutes. Get them both dressed and fed, school bags and food bags done. 20 minutes to get myself ready.

But I don't do my hair, wash brush and tie it back wet. Hat if it's cold outside. I don't do make up either. Although I think I need to start, but no idea where. And I'm starting to get old because the last week I've felt like I have a constant cold head. Never had that before. I'm turning in to my MIL Shock

CupMug · 22/10/2018 09:33

30 mins and that includes sitting down for breakfast - can do 20 mins but that's a rush.

No make up and a VERY quick blow dry.

Glitteryfrog · 22/10/2018 09:34

40minutes of actual getting ready time...plus an additional 20 minutes of listening to the radio and snoozing before getting up.
Alarm at 6.15, leave house at 7.15.

DeadCertain · 22/10/2018 09:34

AtSea1979 I have an extra second job at present on top of my usual work (long story) so on the four days per week I do that I start work at 0400 and finish at 0800.

On other days I naturally wake very early anyway (I am a real morning person) and usually have my first client anywhere from 0730 to 0900 - often run first too.

I am usually in bed by about 2200 to read and asleep by 2230 so early - ish. I don't have children and work some evenings too with free time in the afternoons so will often grab an hour in bed then too when I can.

BlueJava · 22/10/2018 09:35

I get up at 6:25am, shower, dress and get coffee/breakfast to eat on train then leave at 6:55am. That's a relaxed morning with everything ready. The up, shower, dress, out (but no breakfast!) routine can be done in 15 minutes if I'm pushed for time.

Babybearsporij · 22/10/2018 09:35

2.5 hours, but I get up an hour before anyone else to have a coffee in peace! I don't get time to have my own breakfast until after the school run.

Tumbleweed101 · 22/10/2018 09:36

About an hour if just me, up to two if I have the kids to get up and out too.

Oldraver · 22/10/2018 09:38

I used to manage 15 mins...including shower/coffee/make lunch. I use to have breakfast at work

Now about an hour as I wake up for DS but dont start work till mid morning, so I have a decent breakfast.

OH used to get up 3 hours before he went to work, though mostly so he could see us before he left (nights)

DaffoDeffo · 22/10/2018 09:40

I can do it in 15 mins. But to do it without looking like I've been pushed through a hedge backwards takes 25 mins.

2 kids, single parent, always worked full time. Nothing like those dynamics to put a fire up your backside Grin

AbsentmindedWoman · 22/10/2018 09:40

How can people manage to wash their hair and still get out the door in under an hour?

Can somebody break this down for me into 10 minute segments? I'm being serious. I cannot manage this. I don't even do anything fancy with my hair but if I rush the wash/ dry process it looks totally shit - flat and lifeless and then explodes into fuzz throughout the day.

I need to let it sit wrapped in a towel for like half an hour after washing, while I do other stuff - then dry it. Do you all have very easy hair - that's either naturally straight or naturally properly curly? Mine is wavy which I think is time consuming.

Bowerbird5 · 22/10/2018 09:41

I can do it in 20 mins but prefer to take longer.

Put kettle on
Feed animals
Make tea and drink while putting packed lunch together.
Shower
Dressed
Brush hair as I grab car keys and lunch.

If I get up earlier I do a bit of housework and sit and drink tea/ breakfast. Sometimes I am up at 6am. I used to always be up at 6am to have peaceful cup of tea before kids were up & set table. All flown the nest now so I please myself whether I get up or have extra hour in bed depending on what sort of night I have had.
Used to childminder at 7am for a midwife student and fed and walk her children and mine to school 8 altogether. Then keep her little one for the day. Happy days.

TombIhadaGraveChange · 22/10/2018 09:43

This morning I originally woke up at half six when my alarm went off (had forgotten to turn off the very early alarm I needed last week), fell back asleep and didn't wake again til 07:40. Left 08:50.

Ideally I'd be up at 07:00 or 07:15. If I'm on my own I like to be able to read for half an hour with my first coffee before dealing with the animals, showering and making my lunch. Today I did have a ten minute sit-down, but only got through half my coffee.

If I do the bare minimum with as much done the night before as poss I could be out in 20. But I hate not having 2 coffees and a shower.

Bowerbird5 · 22/10/2018 09:44

I wash it quickly and wrap towel around while I get dressed. Dry and brush in 5 minstrel less. In summer I let it dry naturally while I drive to work and give it a quick brush before I go in. I don’t fuss with hair. It is shoulder length and fairly straight nowadays.

Aviana · 22/10/2018 09:45

How can people manage to wash their hair and still get out the door in under an hour?

5 minutes in shower.
Get out shower, towel dry hair. (max 1 min)
Dry myself, get dressed.
Brush though. (max 2 min)
Clip back. (10 secs)
Tie up. (10 secs)
(if it's below 0 degrees outside: put on wooly hat)
Leave.

adaline · 22/10/2018 09:45

Just over an hour here, though I can do it in less.

I have to get up, feed the animals and myself, let the dog out for the toilet and do the litter trays, then get myself ready. I also wash up and do a load of laundry in that time.

Weekends are easier because DH is home and does the morning housework and I do the evening lot (during the week it's the other way around).

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 22/10/2018 09:46

On a work day I am up at 6.30 and out at 7.30. That includes getting DS up and breakfasted. Shower, hair, make up and dressed takes about 30-40 minutes, the rest of the time is teenager wrangling, breakfast and making my coffee to take to work.
