How long between waking up and leaving house?

Generally, I give myself two hours to drink coffee, do my hair (I have very long, thick hair which I blow dry into submission) and makeup. I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara) but I do like to take my time. It does feel like a massive waste of time though but I guess I enjoy the "me" time..

Also, if my hair is "clean"/looking decent it cuts my time down to 1 hr 10ish.

Yes I have no kids..yet.

1hr 15mins: Wake up at 7:30, 5 mins snooze/cuddle, 10 mins shower, 5 mins on hair (it's a wavy bob, all I do is put air dry mousse in it then scrunch it up), 20 mins make and eat breakfast with DH, 10 mins getting dressed, 15 mins makeup, 10 mins finishing touches (jewellery, coat, shoes, get my bag together), then I walk to work (20 mins) & arrive feeling ready for the day!

Pre-DC, two hours for perfect hair and make up, Radio 4 while sipping my hand ground coffee etc. then getting a cab to the office every morning.

Post-DC, work from home, 10 minutes for shower, hair in a curly bun, tinted moisturiser and lip balm and never schedule anything with the DC before 10.00 a.m. Grin

I can do it in ten minutes flat and still look semi-ok albeit my hair will definitely be tied back. I remember a man I used to date once being amazed, literally open mouthed, when I went into the bathroom to get ready and came out done up within five minutes. I honestly don’t know what takes people so long, I can’t be arsed faffing around.

35 minutes today it was horrible...

everybodysang · 25/10/2018 11:29

About 7 minutes. BUT I shower/wash hair night before (our shower is rather noisy so wakes everyone up) and have everything laid out and ready. Get up, wash face, foundation on, brush teeth, clothes on, shoes on, grab bag, go, leave house at 5.35. 25 minute walk to station by which time I am actually awake. Make up on at station as I usually get there 5 minutes before the train and it is a quiet station which lots of little private-ish benches. Mascara, eyeshadow, powder, lip balm. 1 hour on train, then another 30 minute train journey, then 15 minute walk. Have breakfast at work (there's a posh cafe in our building or I take something with me). Start work at 8.30.

Oh I should mention I have very short hair, I just chuck some wax in and it is ready to go.

Miggeldy · 25/10/2018 11:51

StoatofDisarray · 25/10/2018 14:21

3 hours but that includes an hour in the gym, a cooked breakfast and making lunch to take with me.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/10/2018 14:23

Wow there are some early risers here!

Asthenia · 26/10/2018 15:26

Up at 6, leave at 8. Gives me the chance to shower, do hair and makeup, have a decent breakfast and catch up on any TV I missed the night before. I don’t know how people can roll out of bed and straight out the door!

I have a DH and two kids.

This morning I got up at 7.38am and left the house at 8am. Its half term so I didn't have to worry about anyone else as DH was off today. In that time I get dressed and brush my teeth. Brush hair. Find DS2's glasses and clothes for him as he's always up before 7. Sorted out a bit of washing.

On a school day I get up at 6.35 which gives me just under an hour to sort everyone out. DH just lies there. I've already prepped packed lunches as far as I can the night before. So I:
Mooch downstairs trying not to wake DS2 as he can hear a pin drop in his morning sleep
Put kettle on
Pack up lunchboxes and put in appropriate bags
Do any washing.
Head back upstairs to wake up DS2. gentle shaking and prodding
Get myself dressed
Back into DS1s room. light on this time. Check he's packed his bag for school. Take it downstairs. Locate any other items required (PE Kit, Food tech ingredients etc, reading books and so on)
Try to prompt DS2 to get dressed
Back into DS1s room. Bit of shaking and lots of verbal prompting to GET UP. He will generally sit up at this point (7.10am) but I have to stay with him till he's started getting dressed or he'll just lie down again. He is 11 and massive.
DH is generally up at this point getting showered.
DS1 comes downstairs and plonks himself down in front of the telly. I tell him to get in the kitchen and have breakfast.
Try and get DS2 to eat breakfast as well.
Get DS1 back upstairs to clean teeth and put socks on.
At this point, I might remember to brush my hair.
DS1 will come back down and get his shoes on
DH makes an appearance. I tell him if DS2 still needs food/socks/glasses/reading book
Chivvy DS1 into the car. It will be 7.28 at this point.

I like to give myself at least an hour, although I can be ready in 45 minutes if absolutely necessary. How do people get ready in 20 minutes? Please tell me your secret Grin
