How long between waking up and leaving house?

Generally, I give myself two hours to drink coffee, do my hair (I have very long, thick hair which I blow dry into submission) and makeup. I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara) but I do like to take my time. It does feel like a massive waste of time though but I guess I enjoy the "me" time..

Also, if my hair is "clean"/looking decent it cuts my time down to 1 hr 10ish.

Yes I have no kids..yet.

Yes as previous posters have touched upon this is a way to reduce my general anxiety

13 minutes exactly. I get up at 0600 and leave the house at 0613 to catch the bus.

All I do is get up, pee, brush my teeth/wash face/rub wet hands through hair to tame it (I have boy-short hair), put on the clothes I laid out the night before, decant a yogurt into a container for breakfast at work, then say goodbye to DP and head out.

sliceoflife · 22/10/2018 17:23

Bath in the evening. I really don’t like morning showers. Up at 7am, quick wash and minimal makeup, just eyeshadow and mascara. 10mins for breakfast and a cup of tea. Quick look at the news headlines, teeth cleaned and out the door by 7:30am. Children are now grown up and have left home. I started work much later at about 9am when they were still primary school age and worked fewer days.

Squirrelblanket · 22/10/2018 17:32

I'm up at 6.45am and leave the house at 7.15. I shower before bed so it's brush teeth/wash, put make up on (5mins), drink cup of tea while unloading dishwasher, having a quick breakfast and packing my lunch in my bag and then I'm out the door.

I like the idea of getting ready at a leisurely pace but in reality I can't stand fannying about (my own or anyone else's). If I got up early I think I'd still be ready in 30 mins and then clock watching until it was time to leave.

Brakebackcyclebot · 22/10/2018 17:37

2 HOURS???

Blimey. If I'm going out, I spend maybe 20 minutes.

Ignoramusgiganticus · 22/10/2018 17:40

What time do you 2 hour people go to bed?

Sleep is my number one priority in the morning. 7.30 is a god forsaken early hour. I'd never survive earlier than that regularly.

DuckofDoom · 22/10/2018 17:42

Depends what I’m up to. I can do it in 10 minutes if I’m not wearing make up. 30 if I am. I like sleep so I’ve trained myself to be very quick in the morning

Rebecca36 · 22/10/2018 17:44

I used to allow an hour and half when it was just me and working; when had small kid, maybe half an hour which was dreadful.

SilentBob · 22/10/2018 17:47

I'm up at 4:45, set off to work at (latest) 5:45 but I take only 20 minutes max to get ready.

The rest of the time is spent making and drinking coffee, feeding cats and debating whether I really really need a job or can I just go back to bed.

Nacreous · 22/10/2018 17:53

Assuming not looking after any children!!

In case of alarm based fuck-ups, I can be ready and out the house in under 10mins. Work stuff all lives in a bag, breakfast would be fruit, and I would literally get up, pull on a dress, tights, jacket and shoes, brush through hair , teeth clean and out the door.

Them timings really depend on when I need to be out the house. I seriously resent being up before 6:30, and prefer not to be up til 7. So if I need to be out the house before 6 I'd allow 20 mins, by 7 would be 30mins, up to 7:45, 45mins and then 8 or later I'd just get up at 7. I like to have time to listen to the radio with a cup of tea and breakfast, empty the dishwasher, put washing on etc. Nice to have a shower in the morning and dry hair if there's time. However I am totally okay with showering the night before etc if required. So it varies a lot !

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 22/10/2018 17:55

About five days ! ( my office is in the house !)

Noboozeforme · 22/10/2018 18:05

7am - alarm
7.15am - get out of bed
7.16am - get dressed (while calling DS to get up)
7.18am clean teeth / use loo
7.21am put hair up / deodorant on / perfume.
7.25am hug DS and remind him to feed animals and lock the door behind him when he leaves for school.
7.30am leave the house.

.

HurrahMoaningMyrtle · 22/10/2018 18:07

6.45 alarm out at 7.55. That generally allows time to shower (leave wavy hair to air dry and I don't wear make up), feed 6 month old and get her and 2 DS in car for school. It's quite stressful

ClashCityRocker · 22/10/2018 18:19

I wash my hair the night before, so a very quick run through the shower.

Usually about half an hour from getting up to leaving the house, and gives me time for a coffee, cig and a quick mn. So up at 6.30 to set off at 7am.

However, I do read in bed for an hour or so before getting up, depending on what time I wake.

I don't tend to set an alarm, I always feel groggy if I've not woken up naturally. Dh gets up about ten minutes before I leave so it's always there as a backstop.

Villanelle123 · 22/10/2018 18:22

On work days it’s 1.5hrs if I’m washing my hair and 1hr if I’m not but we are always running round late so going to sort that soon.

SabineUndine · 22/10/2018 18:23

30 minutes including meds, bath, hair wash and dry, choose clothes and jewellery and feed cat. No make-up or breakfast.

Cellardoor23 · 22/10/2018 18:32

Usually takes me (on my own) Shower, wash hair, blow dry, straighten, make up - roughly half an hour give or take.

With toddler DC, an hour, after he's dressed and had something to eat.

If I have to be up particularly early the next day (5am) I'll have a shower the night before, so it will be roughly 15 mins for me to get ready in the morning.

HugoBearsMummy · 22/10/2018 18:35

Bloody hell 2 hours on just yourself??? I thought I was really slow at getting myself & toddler ready plus doing pack lunches, beds, putting a wash on, tidying up etc, and all that takes me 1.5 hours !!

3in4years · 22/10/2018 18:36

1.5 hours.
3 kids under 5.
I shower, get everyone dressed and fed, pack all bags and go. I rarely 'do my hair' or look in the mirror. But if it's going well I will put washing on/ out/ away.

ilovepixie · 22/10/2018 18:43

About 5 minutes. Up wash dress and out the door. No breakfast or make up.

daisypond · 22/10/2018 18:51

30 minutes if I'm going to work. I need to leave the house by 6:45am, so I like to leave getting out of bed as late as I can manage.

FekkoTheLawyer · 22/10/2018 18:53

Trick question - I usually wake up about 4ish but get up at 7 - put for 8:15 but spend approx 1hr 14 mins getting DS up, fed and watered, washed, dressed accordingly and put the door. The rest of the time I lavish on myself.

BengalLioness · 22/10/2018 18:55

45min for myself without rushing and hour and a half including my 6 year old. He's a slow eater/dresser.

But I have gotten us both ready in half an hour when needed but that is major rushing and I usually forget something. Generally wake between 7 & half 7. Schools round the corner and work 15min drive.

booellesmum · 22/10/2018 18:56

Alarm goes off at 6.45 and I leave between 7.45 and 8.10 depending on the day.
I wake the kids up, feed the cats, clean out and feed the guinea pigs, unload and reload dishwasher, make the packed lunches, make tea and breakfast for everyone, shower and dress.

Seniorschoolmum · 22/10/2018 18:58

1hr. Ds can make a piece of toast and an apple last 45 minutes.
