How long between waking up and leaving house?

Generally, I give myself two hours to drink coffee, do my hair (I have very long, thick hair which I blow dry into submission) and makeup. I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara) but I do like to take my time. It does feel like a massive waste of time though but I guess I enjoy the "me" time..

Also, if my hair is "clean"/looking decent it cuts my time down to 1 hr 10ish.

Yes I have no kids..yet.

45 minutes to get me and DS up and ready for work/school. We usually eat breakfast in the car

reluctantbrit · 22/10/2018 09:49

1 1/2 hours. That includes 15 minutes wake up time, 1/2 hr shower, dressing make up, 15 minutes breakfast, feeding 3 rabbits and getting DD up and running.

GoopWrithing · 22/10/2018 09:50

I can do it in about 45 minutes: make coffee, shower while it cools, drink, hair dry, clothes, make up, out. But I hate having to rush like that, so that only happens if I sleep in or something. I generally give myself two hours, so there's no rush, and I take my time, have breakfast, read news etc.

ShotsFired · 22/10/2018 09:51

About 20 minutes. I've no patience whatsoever for any sort of faffing in the morning.

Showered then did face/make up straight out of shower in dressing gown and put some serum in my wet hair.
By time that's done, body is dry and I can get dressed (clothes laid out last night)
Cat fed.
All keys, laptop, bag etc in one pile ready to go.
Dry my hair in the car on commute using the blowers.
Have tea at work (don't have breakfast).

Job done.

Fink · 22/10/2018 09:52

90 minutes total. 45 minutes to get myself ready and pray. 15 minutes to get DD's stuff ready (breakfast etc.). 30 minutes to wake DD up and get her ready.

Abitlost2015 · 22/10/2018 09:52

One hour from out of bed to outthe door me and three dc, but it has taken years to be able to do it in this time

Secretsquirrel101 · 22/10/2018 09:52

Depends.
If I’m at my actual job, im up at 7 to leave by 8:20. Includes a shower, blow dry etc and make up but little else (big hair)
If I’m working on the farm, ten minutes before I’m out is acres of time.

ShotsFired · 22/10/2018 09:52

I don't have a massive beauty routine (just primer, foundation, liner, blush, mascara)

Shock Seems a bit massive to me!
(Bit of pressed powder, eyeliner, mascara.)

coffeekittens · 22/10/2018 09:53

I can do it in 30 minutes for me, DD and the dog however I don’t look as groomed as I’d like, DD is rushed and doesn’t get to chill out and the house is generally a mess when I come back. I prefer to give myself 3 hours so that I can get up, do jobs around the house, let the dog potter in the garden, relax with a cuppa and then get DD ready.

pumpastrotter · 22/10/2018 09:53

I get myself ready in about 20 mins whilst my children are eating/starting to get dressed. Wake them up about an hour before we go out.

Before kids I would roll out of bed, 10 mins to clean myself and maybe brush my hair then out the door.

lilyheather1 · 22/10/2018 09:54

40 minutes, shower, shave everything, make up, get dressed, make lunch and go 😊

bakingdemon · 22/10/2018 09:54

About an hour to shower, have breakfast, check overnight emails, pack my bag for the day and do make up. If I'm being lazy about it, I can take an hour and a half

Birdsgottafly · 22/10/2018 09:55

I'm 51 and have Adult children. I can be out in twenty minutes.

I like an hour, though. My skin/face looks better if I'm hydrated, fully awake and fed.

When I have my GD stay and we are going somewhere, I like an hour and a half.

Fashionista101 · 22/10/2018 09:55

I'm up at 7.15 to leave at 8.30 with a 4 year old. I never shower in a morning (some people find that gross lol but I never have). Make up, hair and dress. DH brings coffee and feeds said child.

Gottagetmoving · 22/10/2018 09:56

Two hours. I like to take my time, eat breakfast whilst watching the news and not be rushed.

DowntonCrabby · 22/10/2018 09:56

Can do it in 20 mins but I allow 45 on a school run day. I have long really thick hair but I only wash it 3-4x a week and rarely in the morning. I’d rather have the extra time in bed but if you enjoy the “me” time Id carry on as you are and enjoy it now before you have kids! Smile

Mari50 · 22/10/2018 09:57

45 mins, I’m useless in the mornings and always full of admiration for people who are up and about pre 6.15am.
I set my alarm for 6.30, this morning I managed to get out of bed at 7.23. Showered, breakfast, make up, hair dried/styled, dressed, plaited dd’s hair, packed lunch and out the door for 8.10. Did spend about 10 minutes of my commute wondering wtf I can’t get up when my alarm goes off, I was dead to the world when it did this a.m. and that was going to sleep at 9pm last night.

M3lon · 22/10/2018 09:58

About 20 mins today. I also have massive thick hair but I don't care what I look like, so its a lot quicker.

Chocolateismyvice · 22/10/2018 09:58

Work days -- up at 6, cup of tea and check news ,etc, slap q little make up so I don't resemble a walking zombie, hair in a bun, quick breakfast, grab lunch, out the door by 6.35. that said, I can sometimes get out of bed at 6.15 and just rush a bit and still be out at the same time. DP and toddler usually still in bed.

Days off if I'm going somewhere, about 2 hours to make more of an effort with appearance, make us breakfast, do dishes, get DS ready, etc.

ChampooPapi · 22/10/2018 09:59

10 minutes when I was 18 Grin

Now with a baby and a child, plus the fact I need a cup of char and to wash my face, just over an hour

qate · 22/10/2018 10:01

Usually 15 minutes on a work day, and 45 on a nursery run day - I generally only need 15 to get myself ready (throw myself in shower - minus hair washing as it's too thick to faff about with in the morning - wash, suit on, grab bag, out of the door), but getting DS ready takes far more time, inevitably!

BlackInk · 22/10/2018 10:01

An hour and a half here...

Alarm at 6:30 am and out of the house by 8 at the latest. I have a shower every morning, hair wash every other day and don't eat breakfast until I get to work. I have two primary-aged children to get ready for school. DP is around too - he does the final push to get DC out of the door at 8:30.

However, at half 6 I get up and make a cup of tea, prepare breakfast for DC and then go back to bed with my cuppa and drink it in relative peace, getting back up again at about 7:10.

CoralFish · 22/10/2018 10:02

15 minutes! Haha! I like to allow 45, which is get up, wash and dress and a leisurely coffee and a sit down, but if I am feeling like I need extra time in bed, or need to be in work early, I can skip the coffee and sit down and be up and out in 15. I don't ever wash my hair in the morning though.

GoatWithACoat · 22/10/2018 10:02

I have 4 DC so need 3 hours on a week day. I get up at 5am to have a shower and get dressed before baby wakes at 5.30 for feed, nappy change and dressed. Then I go back into bathroom at 6 to apply make up while baby watches.
At 6.30 the other three rise. Then comes an hour of making breakfasts, clearing breakfasts, teeth brushing, hair combing, changing a nappy again maybe. Then feeding the baby solid food like a bowl of porridge.
Then a quick tidy so we don’t come back to an untidy house, a quick touch up of hair / make up. Maybe stick something in the slow cooker for later and out the door.

I’m knackered by the time I get to work.

ErickBroch · 22/10/2018 10:04

I have to get the train at 7am, if washing hair I have 45 minutes and if not, 20/25.
