Letting a 6 year old watch the Simpsons

sassypants72 · 20/10/2018 21:45

Please good people of Mumsnet help me get across to my DH that the simpsons is not really suitable for 6 year old DD to be watching.

He put it on tonight for her and I went mad saying it's unsuitable. He thinks I'm being very unreasonable, am I ???

Yes

Momo27 · 20/10/2018 21:49

It should be compulsory viewing for all ages. Life lessons on so many levels!

DeadZed · 20/10/2018 21:52

Well, we live The Simpson's here. Pretty much a program for all ages.

Norma27 · 20/10/2018 21:53

My 4 yr old loves watching it with dh. Doesn’t bother me!

HurrahMoaningMyrtle · 20/10/2018 21:53

YABU

dontputmeinapinkbox · 20/10/2018 21:54

I wouldn’t let my 8 year old watch it - too much inappropriate stuff

Thehop · 20/10/2018 21:54

I don’t have a problem with it

Sandsnake · 20/10/2018 21:55

Poor DH.

Beanbag12 · 20/10/2018 21:55

We have had it on in front of our 4 yo. They’re way too young to even notice any innuendo.

Reccy2018 · 20/10/2018 21:56

My 4 and 6 year olds love it

caroloro · 20/10/2018 21:56

My six year old watches it. Guess its horses for courses.

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 20/10/2018 21:57

Ds has been watching the simpsons since he was 2 he loves it. He went through a phase of putting the telly on and climbing in his chair and asking for homer and his dinner too

Sparklesocks · 20/10/2018 21:57

I think anything too racy would go over her head

Splurge77 · 20/10/2018 21:57

Back when it was on Sky One on Sunday’s, and I was about 6, I used to really look forward to watching with my family every week. Was one of the few shows that we all enjoyed, kids through to grandparents.

YABU imo.

hmmwhatatodo · 20/10/2018 21:58

Haha.

Lethaldrizzle · 20/10/2018 21:58

All mine have watched it from an early age. It's awesome

LondonLassInTheCountry · 20/10/2018 21:58

Much better than American Dad Grin

Ohyesiam · 20/10/2018 21:58

I’ve not really seen it since having kids, so may not be remembering it quite right. But wouldn’t kids laugh at the slapstick bits and not get the issues or innuendo?
Anyway Lisa is a great role model!

StormCloudsDoClear · 20/10/2018 21:58

I had my reservations about 4yo DS and DH watching it together, but then I realised it's on at like 6pm, so pre watershed when many young children were still expected to be up. I've never really watched it but decided to watch one or two episodes and said ok.

It's their time togteher I'm normally cooking dinner so I don't have to endure it, but I can hear them laughing.

chipsandpeas · 20/10/2018 21:59

anything adult will go over their heads

BringBiscuits · 20/10/2018 21:59

My kids love it though I don’t think they understand most of the jokes

nomorespaghetti · 20/10/2018 22:00

Same here Splurge77, I've happy memories of Sunday night Simpsons, probably one of the few things we all enjoyed!

sonlypuppyfat · 20/10/2018 22:01

I bet your DH couldn't believe his ears

GreenLantern53 · 20/10/2018 22:02
