Theresa May needs to resign!

autumnbreeze25 · 19/10/2018 08:44

I have supported Theresa May throughout the last few years, and I voted for her in the elections confident she could be trusted. I considered her to be a practical, capable and considered leader at the helm for what was always going to the most challenging situation of our times.

However this trust has been replaced with a pressing need for her to either resign immediately or to be pushed out now.

TM in the last 24 hours has shown that she has failed miserably and she needs to go.

Where did the blazing leader that was going to fight to the end? She limped into the meeting and limped out conceding immediately! My eight year old could do a better job!

The EU were never ever going to give the UK any kind of 'deal'. This was never their intention. I am absolutely amazed anyone is even talking about a deal anymore. This idea is totally dead in the water. There is no deal, there was never going to be, and it is now time for a change in the leadership with full preparation to leave without a deal or switch to the Canada option. Even TM doesn't want to talk about the Chequers deal anymore.

We should walk away now or be forever in a limbo of a vassal state.

There is no way we should agree to any kind of extension that means we will still be paying enormous bills to the EU but will have no influence whatsoever over the decisions made. This is utterly unacceptable and leaves us in a very dangerous situation. How TM has managed to back herself into a corner of this nature is just beyond me, she has let the entire country down.

The traitor that is Oliver Robbins should do the decent thing and leave, this is all down to his 'advice' he has screwed her over properly for sure as he was really working for the other side all along (he can pick up his payment and pension from the EU on his way out)

I am incredulous that Theresa May is still in post, and I hope by the end of the week she will be replaced by someone capable of steering the country out of this unholy mess.

The last time Britain parted ways with a European wide system of governance it was plunged in 1000 years of civil unrest and chaos.

'Those who fail to learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.'

DGRossetti · 19/10/2018 10:10

OP the deal you voted for has never and will never be on offer.

OP needs to understand the good old English expression "A pig in a poke".

PortiaCastis · 19/10/2018 10:11

the solution is for Ireland to leave the eu as well

Don't be so ridiculous, don't you think the Irish people would bave something to say about that.

What about Gibraltar ?

Inthebluemountains · 19/10/2018 10:11

The solution to the Irish problem is for Ireland to leave the EU as well.

Grin (that was a joke right?!)

Lweji · 19/10/2018 10:11

Wouldn't you say it would be fair to hold a referendum on the actual Brexit deal (if one is reached) instead of the idea of Brexit?

I think this is a dumb wind up

DGRossetti · 19/10/2018 10:12

The last time Britain parted ways with a European wide system of governance it was plunged in 1000 years of civil unrest and chaos.

Which ended after a foreign power invaded and sorted us out. (Not really, but it's the level most Brexiteers go down to without needing pictures). The "England" the Brexiteers hanker after is really Norman, not Anglo-Saxon ....

BollocksToBrexit · 19/10/2018 10:13

What about Gibraltar ?

The plan is that brexit unicorns will tow it back to the UK. It'll be anchored just off the Isle of Wight.

Lweji · 19/10/2018 10:13

CAN'T

The problem they have is that they CANT reverse the vote,

Why not. Every single election you have ever voted in (if you have) has "reversed the vote" of the previous one.

Pebblespony · 19/10/2018 10:14

She can't make withdrawal plans until she sorts the Irish border.

Clandestino · 19/10/2018 10:14

"The "England" the Brexiteers hanker after is really Norman, not Anglo-Saxon ...."
They probably hope for an improvement on the cuisine. Croissants over pigs in blankets, ratatouille instead of the traditional veggies cooked a slow second death ....

autumnbreeze25 · 19/10/2018 10:14

The poor people on here who can't even imagine those having a different opinion to their own?
God lord, how can this be that there is a real live leaver on here? PortiaCastis Hmm Have you fainted yet?

The Tory government wouldn't be tearing itself to pieces if there were a tech solution for the NI border.
Even David Davies said this hasn't been developed yet.
It is blue sky thinking

If Brexiters were so confident that a tech solution could be developed, then they would have agreed that the backstop should run until this tech alternative is available and functioning.

To fairly judge whether a tech solution works, let say China, India agree they would not object under WTO / WCO rules over unequal treatment;
Let those countries who have FTAs with the EU, e.g. Canada, SKorea agree they would not activate the MFN clauses

Lweji · 19/10/2018 10:16

You were the one who called people with a different opinion traitors.

WoodenCupCake · 19/10/2018 10:16

When Leave campaigned for Brexit, they never said they would leave CU and single market. The goalpost has moved so another vote would be prudent. Also the Leave campaign was based on lies, most people had no idea that by voting leave the UK should exit CU and single market and nobody knew how complex our trading relationship with the EU is and all the benefits we'd miss out on if we brexit. Sure, no trading bloc is perfect, there has to be compromise in life but the EU made the UK strong and stable!!!

The world has moved on since 1970s, we cannot go back to post war briton (who'd want to) nor can we go back to the days of the Empire. We have to work in mutually respectful partnerships and we are stronger and safer in a union such as the EU. The EU has brought democracy and prosperity to many. Long may it continue. I love EU

OP, do you want the troubles to break out again? Why do you want to destabilise your country by leaving the EU?

autumnbreeze25 · 19/10/2018 10:16

Unfortunately for all of you, none of it will matter on the 29th of March.

OP posts:
Pebblespony · 19/10/2018 10:17

I'm not a remained. I'm Irish and I say off you go, good luck. But, OP, you haven't addressed how this is going to actually happen especially in Northern Ireland.

PortiaCastis · 19/10/2018 10:17

Grin @ towing Gibraltar back to the mainland

Best we ask the rock apes if they want to live at London Zoo or with their buddies on the right side of the house.

SlothMama · 19/10/2018 10:17

Ah yes because TM resigning would really help secure a good deal for Britain. If the EU want to act like arses and try and be difficult we should do the same to them! Believe me the import of goods from the EU would not be affected, manufacturers over there wouldn't want to lose our business.

Lweji · 19/10/2018 10:17

autumnbreeze25 · 19/10/2018 10:18

We are leaving, you need get some therapy if needed, but you do need to get used to the idea at some point. If you want to stay in the EU move to the EU whilst you still have the chance. But don't stay in the UK dragging us all down.

The editor-in-chief of the Economist said last night (on Question Time), that she thought Theresa May was doing a good job under the circumstances.
