To think you dont need the matching knickers to every new bra you buy

I was having this chat with DH this evening as I am about to do a big bra shop (quantity and size now it would seem - boom boom) before rtw after a year ebf.

Spending a very very minimum of £20 per bra (looking at M&S) I dont feel I need to spend half that again on one pair of pants just because they match....DH thought you do clearly its been a long time since we had pre pj sex

What do you think?

I started buying (M&S) matching sets quite recently and I really like wearing them.

theworldistoosmall · 15/10/2018 18:43

All my bras and knickers are matching in the sense that they are all Black, white or red. Makes life so much easier and then any accessories - suspender belts, waspies, chaffing bands, teddies, camies, corsets etc can also easily be matched in.
Or I might buy a bra/knickers with a bit of red and black so then I can wear either colour

Enthymeme · 15/10/2018 18:56

Always. Also go with black bra and any black knickers. Some specials. Janet Regar. (Currently on sale in Debenhams)

chipsandpeas · 15/10/2018 18:58

i like having matching bra and pants but im only paying primark or asda prices, i sometimes buy a few pairs of pants with the bra so can get a bit more wear out of them
but usually when wearing its a good day if the colour matches Grin

Slightly off topic, but I've just read the lines below in the on-line Telegraph. Two bras!

In quite the most vital vote of the week, a survey by the Queen’s underwear supplier, Rigby & Peller, has discovered that almost a third of women wear just two bras; presumably worn in rotation, one on the body, one in the wash. Despite boasting drawers teeming with box-fresh lingerie, seven out of ten women admitted that they would rather sport their comfy favourites than some flashy new number they have bought (or has been bought for them).

Jolonglegs · 15/10/2018 19:05

Sorry, it was from 2016. Still amamzing though

Fresta · 15/10/2018 19:11

I only buy bras that have matching knickers that are nice and comfy. If I don't like the knickers, I don't buy the bra. Most of my underwear is black or nude and I buy about 5 pairs of knickers to match each bra- I don't always wear them together, especially if i'm wearing a light top and dark bottoms but I prefer to have matching- makes me feel good.

Grilledaubergines · 15/10/2018 19:49

For every bra I buy, I buy 2 pairs of the matching pants. Not sure why, just always have! I try to do indie shopping in the sales though so it doesn’t cost too much

Enthymeme · 15/10/2018 19:59

Chalkdoodler. BTW. My DH wears black Hugo Boss socks and pants. So I suppose he does match. I personally put it down to laziness and lack of imagination(Online sale on at the moment)

Menolly · 15/10/2018 20:13

I buy cheap Asda bras which are plain black or white, and cheap Asda knickers, which are also black or white, so I tend to match them. I wouldn't pay out for expensive knickers just to match a bra though, not that there is much choice in pretty underwear at my size anyway.

toomuchtooold · 15/10/2018 20:33

Until the day that M&S selling bras that match their novelty Christmas reindeer knickers I'm afraid I am going to have to remain unmatched Grin

Topseyt · 15/10/2018 20:47

I am proudly unmatched. I have never given matching bras and pants any headspace at all.

Clearly I am one of life's slatterns.

SerenDippitty · 15/10/2018 20:50

I buy my bras from Next as I like them but the matching knickers are vile little scraps of material so I don’t bother.

Ilikeknitting · 15/10/2018 20:52

If I was was replacing all my undies, I’d buy at least a couple of nice ‘sets’ of matching bra and knickers.
Ok, buy ‘practical ‘ colours for the majority, but at least one lovely matching set for those special nights 😜

NorthernSpirit · 15/10/2018 20:57

I only wear matching sets (bra and the matching pants). I buy 1 bra and 2 pairs of the matching pants. Personally I like the matching look.

DontCallMeBaby · 15/10/2018 21:00

All my bras are syntheticy. All my knickers are cottony, so never the twain shall match.

TheGingerBerry · 15/10/2018 21:20

I did the overhaul recently and found decent matching sets in TK Maxx - cheap and comfy. Loads of soft silk knickers in there too - 3 pairs for £6. A nice change from Tesco 'full briefs'.

monkeysox · 15/10/2018 21:26

I prefer cotton pants.
Yabvu to get bras from m and s tho they re shite

tolerable · 15/10/2018 21:26

cant recommend find your local bra store that relies on sales girl looking atchu(wearing whatever bra you have on-and returning with your actual size. mind blowing figure forming brilliance.x

Topseyt · 16/10/2018 02:54

M & S are the only retailers who sell bras that actually fit me. Not shite at all. We are all different. I can never seem to get non-wired in my size anywhere else.

StoppinBy · 16/10/2018 05:04

Sometimes I get lucky, just by chance and my undies match my bra lol but to be honest I just count myself lucky when I have socks that match.... underwear that no one except myself/hubby and kids ever see doesn't even touch my radar of importance haha

MiddlingMum · 16/10/2018 07:55

It has never occurred to me that matching bras and knickers would enhance my life in any way whatsoever. What do you do if you buy multipacks of knickers from Tesco or Sainsburys?

AnnPerkins · 16/10/2018 10:05

I like mine to match but I can't afford the type of underwear that comes on a hanger, just multipacks, so I have a collection of white, black and nude bras and knickers in various styles.

I'm so bored of them though. I'm on a constant quest for colourful multipacks of knickers with bras that match.

RosieBenenden · 16/10/2018 10:10

I don't worry about matching my pants to me bra unless DH and I have planned to have sex when I think its nice to co-ordinate the pants so he can look at me in them during foreplay.

ohtheholidays · 16/10/2018 10:47

Yes all of my Bra's have matching knickers because I started treating myself this year and started buying myself a whole new wardrobe starting with my underwear.
