To think you dont need the matching knickers to every new bra you buy

I was having this chat with DH this evening as I am about to do a big bra shop (quantity and size now it would seem - boom boom) before rtw after a year ebf.

Spending a very very minimum of £20 per bra (looking at M&S) I dont feel I need to spend half that again on one pair of pants just because they match....DH thought you do clearly its been a long time since we had pre pj sex

What do you think?

Please at least match the colour of your bra and knickers. What if you get knocked down? What will the emergency services think?! Grin

JaceLancs · 15/10/2018 08:08

I colour match but that’s all
All my knickers are full size sloggi style
Bras 34g so not that cheap

IDoLoveToBeBesideTheSeaside · 15/10/2018 08:14

I wear bras that fit my upper body and pants that are the best for no VPL on whatever I'm wearing.
Never got the matching sets thing. Just seems like marketing bollocks to me.

AnotherPidgey · 15/10/2018 08:35

I haven't been able to buy anything matching for many years because my combination of small breasts, and full bottom with CS overhang quite clearly don't exist. My derriere can eat silly decorative "pants" for breakfast then consume more for brunch.

Actually, unless I missize to 32B, I don't exist anyway. 30C maybe... 28D... mwah hah ha!

DM thinks my lack of pretty decorative underwear is a travesty, but she has a different body shape with a mainstream bra size and more averagely proportioned lower half in comparison.

I want to be comfortable, not garotted by lace.

LakieLady · 15/10/2018 08:41

I sometimes buy a couple of pairs of matching knickers when I buy a new bra, but mostly I just wear the same colour (I only have black, white or nude underwear).

Sometimes a last minute tea spillage means a last -minute change of top and bra just before leaving the house. Then I'll grab whatever's clean and nearest which may mean my bra and knickers don't match.

It makes me feel a bit out of sorts all day. I have no idea why, as generally I'm quite a scruffbag.

Everytimeref · 15/10/2018 08:47

Always buy matching underwear. Although now like the match to be slightly mismatched!

Rosehip10 · 15/10/2018 08:49

Who doesn't wear matching underwear Confused

fantasmasgoria1 · 15/10/2018 08:50

I always wear black underwear and I have some matching sets. But most look like they match as I buy pants/ bras that look very similar.

Notjustanyone · 15/10/2018 08:53

I always buy two pairs of matching knickers for every bra I buy. I also buy lots of shortie knickers for those days I go bra less.
I have a problem I know Grin

serbska · 15/10/2018 08:56

If I was Uber rich I would have 2 sets of pants for every bra.

As it is, I have a million pairs of black bikini pants. About 5 pairs of fancy ones. And a handful of mismatched bras!

LaDameAuxLicornes · 15/10/2018 09:06

I much prefer matching, but it really annoys me that uber expensive bras (which are presumably expensive because of the engineering in them, so fair enough) have only rip-off pants to match. No way does it cost £15-20 to manufacture a pair of knickers! I don't begrudge the cost of the bras very much, but I do resent what feels like the cynicism of pricing the pants to a captive market. I would happily buy multiple matching pairs if they were cheaper, but as it is it's none or one as a "treat".

cloudtree · 15/10/2018 09:08

My underwear rarely matches but I must admit that if I was buying a new bra I would ideally buy three or four pairs of the matching knickers. Simply because the bras last a lot longer than the knickers and so then I stand a chance of having a set for longer.

foxtiger · 15/10/2018 09:09

Most of my pants are black (or nude for wearing with light coloured trousers). A lot of my bras are black or cream but a few are other, brighter colours. In the past I have had colourful pants too but actively enjoyed mismatching them. I just can't see the point of matching sets when you can usually wear a bra for more than one day, so unless you want to wash your pants every night they'll soon get out of sync.

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 15/10/2018 09:14

There was literally a thread on this less than two days ago Hmm

sollyfromsurrey · 15/10/2018 09:16

My undergarments are functional not just decorative. Bras do what I want them to do -up, together, minimise, depending on what I need that day. My knickers may be boy cut, high waist, hipsters, control or whatever I need them to be for the clothes I am wearing that day. I wear only black or nude so it matches near enough. But even then, if I have a white too and black trousers or jeans I may wear a nude bra and black pants.

MatildaTheCat · 15/10/2018 09:16

I have black, white and nude underwear and very little have come as sets but I cannot wear unmatched. If I were to change my top and need a nude bra I would seriously have to change my pants.

I accept I’m weird. Smile

ApolloandDaphne · 15/10/2018 09:29

I always buy matching pants to my bras. I hate it when they don't match. I pretty much only wear black, white or nude bras, always the same Marks ones and they do matching pants that aren't expensive. Works for me.

MrsStrowman · 15/10/2018 09:33

Pre pregnancy I always wore matching sets, I often bought two pairs of co-ordinating if not matching pairs of knickers with each bra, I had a few interchangeable black sets, but most were brightly coloured or patterned. I lost a lot of weight a good few years ago and that was my treat to myself for keeping it off, lovely lingerie. Now I'm seven and a half months pregnant wearing massive stretch boy short pants and non underwire crop tops. I was stood in my underwear drying my hair a few weeks ago and DH said I looked like a pregnant athlete or wrestler. Can't wait to get back into the good stuff...

peachgreen · 15/10/2018 10:09

I always buy them, wear them once or twice and then revert to comfy cotton ones. Every time!

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 15/10/2018 10:15

Out of curiosity, those of you who match, what do you do if wearing dark trousers/jeans/skirt with a white or pink top? I tend to wear black under dark colours and beige under pale colours.

girlywhirly · 15/10/2018 10:55

I would wear nude under light top and dark bottoms, or dark top and light bottoms. I prefer nude pants under white. My mum always bought white bras for me when I was young and It was only when I could buy my own that I got anything different.

I don’t feel compelled to buy pants that exactly match my bras. I might be persuaded if the pants were on a 3 for 2 offer in M&S.

MrsGollach · 15/10/2018 15:00

I don't like matching duvet covers and pillowcases so why would I like matching underwear?

donajimena · 15/10/2018 15:07

Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a matching set but I only wear cotton undercrackers (obvs with a bit of lycra in) the matching knickers tend to be almost 100% man-made fibres. I just wear black bra and pants.

LuckyDiamond · 15/10/2018 15:12

I buy 2 pairs per bra, but like PP very seldom bother to match up.

OP this isn’t what you asked but I’ve got substantial norkage too and just discovered that some bras are ok and only a few quid each. I’m usually in excess of £30 each in Bravissimo.

LuckyDiamond · 15/10/2018 15:13

Oh missed off IN PRIMARK GrinGrin
