I have realised I am in a biscuit no-mans land, having eaten, but not loved many a biscuit in my time. I’m now in search of ‘the one’, the lifetime partner biscuit that only death or removal from manufacture will see us parted. I do love a proper highland shortbread, but at the same time they are just a little too plain. Chocolate covered/filled/chips is good (but please don’t recommend hobnobs, I do not have the spare time available to remove those from my teeth). Any kind of fruit filling/coating could also be interesting. In particular, these biscuits are required to go with my last tea before bed at night, and also with a coffee or two during the week when I’m working from home. So
A) AIBU to ask, and
B) what do you recommend?

go to Tesco everyday value digestives.they are a find!ot digestive but a new wonder biscuit.

cantfindname · 16/10/2018 07:15

Digestive, but not the McVities ones which are too soft and too salty. Tesco own brand seem to be best.

Fig rolls.. thanks for reminding me of those, now on shopping list.

Ginger biscuits. I found some posh ones with little bits of crystallised ginger in and can't remember where I got them :(

Had to Google what the feck Lotus Biscoff are. I live in the country where they're from (Belgium) and they're actually known as Speculoos. And yes, they are definitely the best biscuit - great on their own and also for dunking. And even better, at Christmas here we get them in the shape of St Nicolas - they're about the size of 2 digestives put together and are so good to dunk in tea!

longwayoff · 16/10/2018 08:39

Speculoos, waitrose had speculoos tarts last xmas, new to me. Delicious. Found a jar of biscoff spread and bought it intending to make some tarts but I fear if I open it I'll scoff the lot with a spoon before it gets near the pastry.

I'm saving the full deliciousness of the thread for when I'm not supposed to be working, but popped on to say that you can't beat a PLAIN (NOT MILK) chocolate digestive.

I know other biscuits are more exciting but the novelty always wears off. Whereas the plain chocolate digestive simply never fails. To address your OP specifically, for this reason it's the ideal choice for a 'lifetime partner biscuit' (I mean, lovely as they are, can you imagine, really, honestly, being pledged and bound to a Teoni's mint chocolate number for EVER?).

Ginger snaps dunked in a cup of tea.

crispysausagerolls · 16/10/2018 12:22

Sainsbury's dark chocolate ginger biscuits!

TrexDrip · 16/10/2018 14:39

Asda luxury Salted caramel cookies that have chocolate on one side - bloody lovely and filling as well!
Fig rolls - although it has to be the proper ones with curved corners and no pattern on top
Dark Mint chocolate kit kats
M & S Pistachio and Almond cookies - although they have changed the recipe and they don't taste as good as they did

Cakemonger · 16/10/2018 14:59

I no longer buy M&S extremely chocolatey biscuits, jaffa cakes or cadbury fingers because I can't stop eating any of them once I start

Tortoisecharlie · 16/10/2018 15:15

Cakemonger, M&S used to do a dark chocolate and cherry Jaffa cake. It was amazing, and the two packets didn't last long. I check every now and again to see if they have brought them back out.

alwaysthepessimist · 16/10/2018 16:34

God I hate you all - day 2 of being good & I read this bloody thread....going to Sainsburys tonight to buy dark chocolate gingers!

DarlingNikita · 16/10/2018 16:35

M&S used to do a dark chocolate and cherry Jaffa cake

That's basically the biscuit/cake (?) of my filthiest dreams.

GetSchwifty · 16/10/2018 18:14

I’ve already contributed but I remembered about bonne maman sables. I brought back some raspberry ones from France and they were amazing. A quick google leads me to believe that you can only get the chocolate ones here, I will be trying them soon!

Treaclepie19 · 16/10/2018 18:23

Fox's chocolate shortcake rounds 😍

Cakemonger · 16/10/2018 18:40

Tortoisecharlie - it's ok, the grief is manageable. It was easier to cut them out completely

ALemonyPea - that is amazing

Ymamiss · 16/10/2018 18:46

My favourite - Fox’s Chocolate Cream crunch.
Can literally sit there and dip the whole pack!
