I have realised I am in a biscuit no-mans land, having eaten, but not loved many a biscuit in my time. I’m now in search of ‘the one’, the lifetime partner biscuit that only death or removal from manufacture will see us parted. I do love a proper highland shortbread, but at the same time they are just a little too plain. Chocolate covered/filled/chips is good (but please don’t recommend hobnobs, I do not have the spare time available to remove those from my teeth). Any kind of fruit filling/coating could also be interesting. In particular, these biscuits are required to go with my last tea before bed at night, and also with a coffee or two during the week when I’m working from home. So
A) AIBU to ask, and
B) what do you recommend?

Malted milks are the only biscuit worthy. You can get them chocolate dipped too!

DitheringBlidiot · 14/10/2018 21:41

For home made I would always gos empire biscuits. Shop bought.. anything Viennese, bonus points for chocolate Dipped, minus points for buttercream ( which I love, but not in this context)

RiverTam · 14/10/2018 21:43

Seriously people, you need to try the Sainsbury’s dark choc gingers. After that, the Borders ones taste like a cheap ginger nut wth some chocolate dumped on them. No comparison!

bellinisurge · 14/10/2018 21:45

Bourbon biscuits. No contest. The proper cheap rectangle ones with Bourbon written on them in gaps.
My heart sings when I see them. It's for life.

Sitranced · 14/10/2018 21:46

Dark chocolate digestive but make sure you eat it properly with the chocolate side down.

These are my current loves. You can buy small packets (4 biscuits) as a snack or bigger ones:

Walkacrossthesand · 14/10/2018 21:54

What are those chocolate covered Aus/NZ biscuits called, with a cream filling that you suck the tea/coffee through once it's melted the chocolate? Anyone know?

RiverTam · 14/10/2018 21:58

Tim tams. Like bourbons.

gothefcktosleep · 14/10/2018 22:00

M&S chocolate rounds. Hands down...

iliketomoveitmoveitMOVEIT · 14/10/2018 22:01

Fudge tim tams - mmmmm.

happyrayoflight · 14/10/2018 22:05

Yesssss to Choco Leibniz but they more chocolate with the added benefit of nice biscuit

I recommend chocolate chip digestives GrinBrew

Or the se chocolate chip scotty dogs shortbread biscuits that I buy for my DS and eat them all myself

BillywigSting · 14/10/2018 22:07

Chocolate bourbons are pretty unbeatable imo, also with a penguin, if you bite off the top left and bottom right corners, then use it to suck up a bit of coffee like a straw, the remaining biscuit is something very special indeed

CherylStreep · 14/10/2018 22:08

Mikado, bourbons, malted milk.

fridayrain · 14/10/2018 22:08

Plain: Fruit Shortcakes
Plain delicious: Cadburys Roundies

Also love Lidls Caramel Waffles & their Chocolate Wafer Rolls.

HeronLanyon · 14/10/2018 22:10

A biscuit for life? ‘The one’. For me it would be dark chocolate digestive. McV only. But I adore peanut biscuits (round short biscuits with peanuts on top) and would miss those a lot.

coffeekittens · 14/10/2018 22:11

Aldi white chocolate and cranberry cookies are Devine, amazing for dunking.

Also love a jam cream but not for dunking.

Antigon · 14/10/2018 22:14

The Waitrose 1 Belgian white chocolate & lemon biscuits were very nice, but a very occasional treat at £2.49 for a small box.

Babdoc · 14/10/2018 22:15

Border biscuits chocolate Viennese whirls. Utterly scrumptious. But sadly, I am trying to lose a few pounds, so biscuits are currently completely off the menu at Babdoc Towers...!

HeronLanyon · 14/10/2018 22:17

@sitranced re eating them chocolate side down. I want to agree (and always eg eat salty crackers salt side down) BUT I get into a mess of chocolate on fingers if I do that vI eat chocolate side up but very quickly turn the piece in my mouth to get the same effect. Hope this is acceptable. Don’t have sweet tooth so only buy maybe 2 packets a year so I realise I’m not an expert.

JobbyBum · 14/10/2018 22:18

Stroopwaffels

PoxAlert · 14/10/2018 22:20

Either the M&S round ones that boast on the box to be "more Chocolate than biscuit"

Or

Choco Leibniz - Which I believe also boast the same!

You can see what I like in a bisc!

MrsMarigold · 14/10/2018 22:21

Bonne Maman Galettes - delicious buttery but not too rich or sweet.

AesopsMables · 14/10/2018 22:29

This week I have inhaled 2 packets of M&S Raspberry Jaffa Cakes. They are sublime.

Or, try Hazelnut and Chocolate Biscotti

ClinkyMonkey · 14/10/2018 22:33

Lidl have delicious cranberry and white chocolate cookies. Only problem with Lidl is, every time I decide something is essential to my happiness, they bloody well stop selling it. Cranberry and white choc biscuits still available though!

newmumwithquestions · 14/10/2018 22:34

Agree with all the chocolate ginger recommendations. But you’re all wrong on the best ones. Island bakery - they are amazing:
