I have realised I am in a biscuit no-mans land, having eaten, but not loved many a biscuit in my time. I’m now in search of ‘the one’, the lifetime partner biscuit that only death or removal from manufacture will see us parted. I do love a proper highland shortbread, but at the same time they are just a little too plain. Chocolate covered/filled/chips is good (but please don’t recommend hobnobs, I do not have the spare time available to remove those from my teeth). Any kind of fruit filling/coating could also be interesting. In particular, these biscuits are required to go with my last tea before bed at night, and also with a coffee or two during the week when I’m working from home. So
A) AIBU to ask, and
B) what do you recommend?

Ok - garibaldis and lotus biscoffs are too thin..in true dripfeed style, I think my biscuit needs more substance, in thickness and width.
3luckystars my tea is decaf (dripfeed fail) so no keeping me awake

Chocolate covered malted milks. Words cannot describe their biscuity perfection.

Eliza9917 · 14/10/2018 21:10

Biscoffi or Leibniz. You can get extra long biscoffi now, perfect for dunking, AND the other day in tescos they had orange Leibniz!

CrispbuttyNo1 · 14/10/2018 21:13

Orange choc Leibniz are unbeatable

ALemonyPea · 14/10/2018 21:16

Borders fruit shortbread Rounds are amazing.
Also, M&S do a pecan toffee/butterscotch shortbread biscuit which are amazing and I can't stop at just one or two if I have them.

ElfridaEtAl · 14/10/2018 21:19

@missyB1 You can get Kimberly biscuits from Morrison's, at least online anyway if that's any good.

Anything that's got cream and raspberry in for me. Happy faces, jam n creams etc.

Oysterbabe · 14/10/2018 21:21

Custard creams. I just seem to be able to eat an unlimited amount of them.

JovialNickname · 14/10/2018 21:24

If you have a time machine, then Jaspers. Delicious sweet and slightly spicy biscuit, with bits of orange in. Not seen since the 1990s

pollysproggle · 14/10/2018 21:25

I had some sultana cookies from Lidl recently. They were the best I've tried and I'm a pro baker!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 14/10/2018 21:25

Dark chocolate ginger biscuits. I only need a couple. They are delicious.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/10/2018 21:26

M&S butter sultana cookies.
Anything with ginger. I’m partial to a brandy snap on special occasions, but too often and it ruins their specialness.
And of course - the Jaffa cake. (or Lidl alternative)

DarkDarkNight · 14/10/2018 21:27

Out of the basic biscuits I love a Bourbon but only if it’s dunked in. Also love Fig Rolls, but they’re not everybody’s cup of tea. I think chocolate digestives are hard to beat, it’s the saltiness of the digestive with the sweetness of the chocolate that’s so nice. Malted Milks used to be my favourite so I will seek out some chocolate malted milk.

M&S chocolate dutch shortcakes in the Purple packet are very moreish and they also do some amazing triple chocolate cookies with chocolate on the bottom.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 14/10/2018 21:28

Those Belgian waffle things sandwiched together with toffee, love those! Lidl and Asda both do cheaper versions.

SewButtons · 14/10/2018 21:30

Sainsbury’s taste the difference dark chocolate and hazelnut cookies. Delicious and go well with either tea or coffee.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 14/10/2018 21:30

Chocolate chip shortbeads, biscotti and florentines.

Those Belgian waffle things sandwiched together with toffee

They are gorgeous.

Davros · 14/10/2018 21:31

M&S extremely chocolatey range or various shortbreads. Tunnock caramel wafer.
Kimberly are widely available in the uk and quite vile

LucyAutumn · 14/10/2018 21:34

Dark chocolate digestive Smile

SpamChaudFroid · 14/10/2018 21:35

Are flapjacks too left field? If not, then Thomas Fudge half chocolate dipped ones.

Proper biscuity biscuit-wise Charles Destrooper always deliver, esp the butter waffles.

It's a minefield trying to avoid biscuit disappointment, that's for sure OP.

WoahBodyforrrrm · 14/10/2018 21:36

Chico leibnez are great, but THE best biscuit on earth, is the M&S extremely chocolaty ones. Mmmm mm mmmmm

december212 · 14/10/2018 21:36

Border biscuits. Any type of them, they're all great and never last long. Love the lemon drizzle biscuit, fruit shortcake and dark chocolate ginger biscuits.

RiverTam · 14/10/2018 21:38

For substantial biscuits you need to look at the Sainsbos Taste the Difference range, in particular the treacle and oat ones, and their chocolate gingers which actually have bit of ginger in them.

Parisbun · 14/10/2018 21:40

I loved the packet of Bronte biscuits I had a few years ago but somehow you cant seem to get them any more. If I could get them more regularly I would probably have them exclusively.

For day to day though Kitkats are the business with Tunnocks caramel logs bringing up a close second. These are the caramel wafer biscuits but then dipped in coconut. Lovely and they last ages - but the fallout from the coconut takes some clearing up.

For an actual biscuit though, a standard McVities chocolate digestive does the trick for most occasions.

DarkDarkNight · 14/10/2018 21:40

My favourite Border biscuits were the Strawberry Shortbreads but I can’t find them any more Sad

Wombatwife · 14/10/2018 21:40

Borders deal chocolate coated ginger biscuits - they’re amazing!
