Following on from 'Chicken nugget-gate' on the other thread 😉 and the popularity of the "What did you eat today" thread. I have to ask...

What Did Your Toddler Eat Today?

Spudlet · 14/10/2018 16:25

Oh I forgot - he also had a slice of toast for breakfast! Demanding second breakfasts is his latest thing...

lexi727 · 14/10/2018 17:53

I am pinching so many ideas from this thread!

Today he has had:

Ready brek with strawberries, grapes and blueberries

A cheese and ham toastie
Greek yogurt and honey

Some rice cakes with peanut butter and Nutella on top

He's currently picking at sausage and mash.
Got his eye on some muffins I made earlier I think.

NerrSnerr · 14/10/2018 17:57

Today my 18 month has had
Breakfast- a few spoonfuls of Rice Krispies
Lunch- a fish finger and two potato smilies (veggies were handed to me one by one)
Snack- 3 cocktail sausages, some strawberries and a small cake at a party
Tea- most of an Ella's Kitchen Spaghetti bolognaise pouch

I don't have a toddler (DSD is 14) but I will say it's developmentally very normal for toddlers to have rituals around food and to not want to try new things.

Part of the issue around food is that children actually have more taste buds than adults do. Sometimes very strongly flavoured food can be too strong for them as a result.

It's also very normal for them to have days where they eat maybe 2 bites and then the next day they eat as if there's no tomorrow. Children will self-regulate and it's extremely rare at this age that they would intentionally starve themselves.

Lilsquish · 14/10/2018 18:38

today: (hopefully this post will have paragraphs......Angry)

B: Bowl of fruit and fibre

L: Chicken sandwich

D: 1/2 chicken kiev, some chips, one onion ring, spoonful of peas.

S: Apple, banana biscuit, cucumber slices

Peacockfeathers789 · 14/10/2018 18:42

Today DS (28months) has had:

5oz milk

Porridge with strawberries and blueberries

Toast with a third of a banana

Spinach ricotta pizza (from the freezer! shared with me)

1 Satsuma

1 Frube

Chopped cherry Tomatoes, cucumber slices and bag of mini cheddars

Pasta with cheese, chopped carrots and chopped cucumber

Apple (half of it)

6oz milk before bed

This is a good day, I don’t know what’s been up with him today but for a change he’s eaten everything I’ve given him, I expect normal order to be restored from tomorrow when I’m sure he’ll be demanding cheese strings and biscuits all day

Oppsdaisies · 14/10/2018 20:07

Ds 22 months had:

Porridge with raisins and almonds (plus a few spoonfuls of my cocoa shreddies)

Diluted Apple juice couple of chips (off my plate) raisins and one bite of a ham sandwich

The Apple I was eating which he took two bites off then hid under the sofa.

Roast lamb with veg and potatoes. He did ok on the veg today (two whole spoonfuls) but ran and hid when tried to feed him boiled potatoes. If it's not chips he's not interested.

meepmoop · 14/10/2018 20:22

DS 14months today had

Breakfast - 2 crumpets, raspberries and strawberries.

Lunch - 1 x potato and spinach small burger, half a fillet of haddock. Parsnip. Refused his broccoli and carrots

Snack - 3 rich tea biscuits at his aunties and 2 cheddars before tea.

Tea - roast chicken, potatoes, parsnips and Yorkshire pudding. Refused broccoli and carrot and swede mash. Small Apricot yoghurt for dessert.

Has had 2 x 7oz bottles of cows milk

Figmentofimagination · 14/10/2018 20:56

So I've been working again today so I only saw DS (17mo) have toast for breakfast and some grapes for a snack.

According to DH when he gave DS his plate of egg and toast for lunch he handed his straight back and refused to eat it. So ended up having an Asda pouch and a yogurt. And tea was chips, fish fingers and peas. He ate all the chips and a tiny bit of the fish fingers.

He's starting to refuse more food now. I don't like it Sad

Kintan · 14/10/2018 21:02

DartmoorDoughnut · 14/10/2018 21:03

Breakfast - a croissant and some fruit
Snack - grapes and cheesy biscuits
Lunch - pasta with tomato mascarpone sauce and cucumber
Snack - Pom bears
Dinner - roast pork with carrots and roast potato

Littlest has also had lots of milk as he likes to use me as an additional snack bar still Hmm

AlphaBravo · 14/10/2018 22:01

We finished the day with one of those posh looking Spag Bols for toddlers in the fresh section at Tesco.

He ate half. And a quarter of a piece of toast with a smidge of marmite and butter on it to dip in.

He was very poorly a couple of weeks ago with croup so trying to keep him on his 99th centiles! 😂🙈

Bottle of milk
Cheerios

Toast and banana

Home made vegetable soup

A packet of quavers and half a milky bar (oh dear)

Chicken chow mein (out all afternoon so got a takeaway on the way home)

I don't usually feed him crisps and takeaways honest

Meralia · 14/10/2018 22:22

16 month old.

4 oz of milk.
Marmite on 1 slice of toast.

Rice cake.

Ham and cucumber sandwich, banana, some Ella’s kitchen puffs.

Apple

Spaghetti bolognaise. Fromage frais.

DrWhy · 14/10/2018 22:38

Slice of marmite toast for breakfast.
Half a toddler apple snack bar thing and half an actual apple for snack.
Lunch was a kids lunch box at a cafe so half a pack of Pom bears (confiscated the rest) about 5 small bites of cheese sandwich (bribed with Pom bears), two of the breaded chicken strips out of my wrap and all the sweet corn and cucumber from my salad (not much!). A hideously sugary children’s raspberry yoghurt and a satsuma. The kinder bar also got hidden before he saw it.
Afternoon snack was a small amount of an apple he demanded and later on more blueberries than a small child should eat (daddy was supervising!).
Dinner was mushroom and pea risotto which he ate a decent portion of by being bribed with extra rations of grated cheese if he ate good mouthfuls of it. Followed by another satsuma.
Looking back he’s actually eaten better than I thought! Although how a child can love bread, butter and cheese but consistently refuse cheese sandwiches even when deconstructed I don’t understand!

Joinourclub · 14/10/2018 22:45

It’s not been a good day;

Half a wheatabix
Half an apple
Tuna mayo sandwich
Half a bag of hula hoops
Half a pack of smarties
Beans on toast

Onatreebyariver · 14/10/2018 22:51

Lunch - one slice toast with peanut butter and a banana

Snack - apple

Mammyloveswine · 14/10/2018 22:56

2.5 year old DS had an apple and a bowl of dry cheerios for breakfast, a few tortilla crisps mid-morning that DH had left out, cheese on toast with cherry tomatoes and cucumber sticks for lunch. This after noon he had a small bag of buttons then for tea Pasta Bolognese. He had a cup of milk before bed too. Today was an improvement on the other week when his grandma bought him chippy chips for lunch, didn't tell me and I then bought chippy chips for tea! He loved it though 😂

newmumwithquestions · 14/10/2018 23:29

Cereal (mixed cornflakes/bran flakes/rice crispies)

Oatcake with cheese
Melon

Tomato & lentil soup.
Bread with cheese/almond butter.

Pear

Creamy potato, salmon & broccoli bake
Mango

Today was a good day - they ate what we ate (apart from suspiciously dissecting the salmon bake and removing any smear of onion). It doesn’t always work that way.

2nd bowl of above, but only ate half.

Slice of toast, flapjack bar, box of raisins, strawberries, wheat puffs (snack at toddlers club)
