to stop shopping at M and S for selling hijabs for young girls

So M and S have started to sell hijabs as part of their school uniform range...aimed at primary school children. One reviewer helpfully suggests getting the small one for a 4 year old.

I have been shopping at Marks all my adult life and have remained a faithful customer despite some dodgy clothes of late and the uninspirational Sparks card, but I think this is going to be the last straw for me.

they are re-discovering their identity largely due to the demonisation and dehumanisation of their faith and the 4 million who have been killed through tony blair illegal iraq intervention

the supermarkets also sell halal food, btw water is halal.

user1457017537 · 13/10/2018 20:57

Perhaps they can go and practice back in the ME then

fredperry18 · 13/10/2018 20:58

user1457017537

user1457017537 · 13/10/2018 20:59

fredperry18 · 13/10/2018 21:00

ask the Queen.

user1457017537 · 13/10/2018 21:01

Ask the Queen what?

JacquesHammer · 13/10/2018 21:03

I was at school with a family of Plymouth Bretheren. Their daughters wore headscarves.

fredperry18 · 13/10/2018 21:06

user1457017537

ask her if the scarf should be banned.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 13/10/2018 21:08

user1457017537 I declare you a stinking bigot and suggest you go back to polishing your Tommy Robinson photos.

noeffingidea · 13/10/2018 21:09

it's not anyone' business how other people's children dress.unless it's not legal
That's not true when it comes to school uniform, It is the business of the school and the governors, etc.
When I was at school in the 70s Muslim girls were permitted to wear trousers under their skirts, the usual blazers that everyone wore to cover their arms, and tracksuits for PE (I can't remember if they went swimming). I think that was a fair compromise, with the addition of hijab for older girls.
You are entitled to spend your money where you feel fit, OP. If you don't want to spend it at M and S, for whatever reason, then you don't have to.

fredperry18 · 13/10/2018 21:09

i think we all know its not about the scarf but an excuse to other and 'bash' muslims.

the victims of this othering unfortunately are innocent muslim women. these kind of anti muslim media non stories are enabling to the far right - alt right .

and it is deliberate, calculated incitement.

Bluelady · 13/10/2018 21:12

Totally agree. This thread is shameful.

user1457017537 · 13/10/2018 21:13

A stinking bigot because I do not support the oppression of women and young children. Go and tie yourself in knots trying to be do liberal and right on

schools should be inclusive , give all communities the idea that they have a stake in british society. it serves no real purpose other than to create dissent and hostility when we become unaccepting of values that in the bigger picture have little to no impact as to how we all function together.

a woman wearing a scarf does not impinge how others live.

finewine · 13/10/2018 21:16

muslim women are the primary victims of gratuitous abuse, both physical and verbal, and its on the increase.
As is the wearing of the veil, especially amongst children. Its a political statement, spread of Islam from hardliners etc.

SpitefulMidLifeAnimal · 13/10/2018 21:17

user1457017537 There's absolutely no need to tie myself in knots thanks, your blundering attempt at telling us you think people should "go back to where they came from" says it all.

fredperry18 · 13/10/2018 21:19

user1457017537

1,400,000 women are sexually / abused every year. 400,000 are seriously sexually abused. 95,000 are raped. 3 women are killed every 10 days.

and here you are foaming at the mouth about childrens clothing item.

user1457017537 · 13/10/2018 21:21

I did not say “go back to where they came from” you mentioned that Tony Blair had involved us in wars in the ME (illegal wars by the way) that had displaced over 4 million people.

user1457017537 · 13/10/2018 21:21

I really can’t be bothered to argue with an extremist excuser

fredperry18 · 13/10/2018 21:22

finewine

so what, why cant muslim women (yes those poor oppressed women) make a political statement. what business is it of yours if they do?

it doesnt make it acceptable to abuse physically or verbally .. or are you saying such violence is okay. are you?

fredperry18 · 13/10/2018 21:23

user1457017537

its killed 4,000,000 not displaced
