Hello :)

I'm just curious really - I was talking to a friend and said I was hoping to be in my old clothes 3 months after the birth - it's my first baby and I'm naturally very slim, the only weight I've gained in the pregnancy is basically bump/baby. She said I was BU and that it would take at least 12 months! I know losing the weight really isn't the be all and end all but just for my own reasons really I'd love to be in a situation by then where my pre pregnancy clothes would fit (unless of course I have a c sect or very difficult birth that means I can't actually get out for walks and stuff for a while!)

I guess my question is am I being unrealistic? Interested to hear everyone else's stories?!

DC1 - about 4 months.
DC2 - I piled it on. About a year.

Myusername101z · 08/10/2018 18:32

6 weeks

Moneypenny007 · 08/10/2018 18:33

First ds a few days second was a week.
I had a bit of a belly but jeans closed and were fine to wear with floaty top. I'm probably heavier now that ds2 is 2.5years but that's a different story!!!

Blondie1993 · 08/10/2018 18:36

I left the hospital in my jeans (size 8) but I was 18 and have always been naturally slim plus had to walk a lot during pregnancy as I had a very excitable young dog! I highly doubt if I have anymore now it would be the same Grin!

Dobbythesockelf · 08/10/2018 18:38

It doesn't matter how long it takes you as long as you are healthy and happy. Bodies change all the time. It really doesn't matter how quickly other people last weight, how much they put on etc what's important is that you look after yourself and are kind to yourself. For all the people that say 3 weeks their are people that will say 3 years. I have a pouch from 2 c sections, stretch marks and wider hips. But I also have 2 wonderful kids. So if it takes you a year please don't feel bad or like you have failed.

AwdBovril · 08/10/2018 18:40

DD is 6... I'm still trying. I was almost there a couple of years ago but no longer.

Marlli · 08/10/2018 18:42

I was in mine 3 days later and my smaller jeans 8 weeks later.. first baby and Im very petite. Still got that mum tum tho!!

DangerousBeanz · 08/10/2018 18:42

My son was 27 last weekend, I'm still not back in the size 8 skinny jeans I was wearing before i got pregnant.
But then I'm not 21 any more either so they probably wouldn't suit me.

puppymouse · 08/10/2018 18:44

I got down to 10lb off my pre pg weight by the time I went back to work a year after I had DD thanks to 5:2. I did gain 4 stone though and I was slimmer than usual when I conceived.

ingenvillvetavardukoptdintroja · 08/10/2018 18:45

Same week - lost 2 stone when pregnant and breastfeeding makes me gaunt.
As soon as baby weans I pile it all on again...

OllyBJolly · 08/10/2018 18:46

First baby- when I stopped breastfeeding at 12months

Second baby - next day!

No rhyme or reason.

CountFosco · 08/10/2018 18:49

Had DD1 at 37 and was back in my jeans 9 days post birth smug . Midwife asked if I was eating properly (I was, my Mum was doing all the cooking for me). I lost weight very fast after all 3DC, longest it took me to get back in my jeans was about 3 weeks after DS at 41. I think it's just luck, I didn't diet at all but kept losing weight until their BFing reduced about a year after birth.

Donna1001 · 08/10/2018 19:00

A couple of months after both babies.

Are you breastfeeding? The weight fell off me with that. I gave up quite soon with my first baby, but with my second I ended up weighing a stone less than when I got pregnant.

That was fabulous!

Then I stopped feeding & went back to work....

TheOrigFV45 · 08/10/2018 20:43

@OliveOrTwist
It's just skin. It can't bounce back. I have muscles underneath. In fact if I put on weight the wrinkles smooth out.
I don't mind at all. I've grown two people.

overagain · 08/10/2018 20:47

Never. I weigh less than pre-pregnancy but my hips are wider in the bones. I'll never get back in them. I'm just hoping they don't grow with DC2.

Shmithecat · 08/10/2018 20:49

9 days. But I'm not smug - 3 years on, I weight more now than I did when I was full term 😭😭😭

SellFridges · 08/10/2018 20:50

Four days with first baby, about four weeks second time.

I couldn’t get in those jeans now if I tried! I’ve piled weight on since returning to work second time round, I just have no time to focus on losing it.

MondayImInLove · 08/10/2018 21:30

4 months, I had twins and gained 35kgs Shock but it was so much work looking after two newborns that I barely had the time and energy to eat.

Upsy1981 · 08/10/2018 22:07

10 days. Was v.slim before pregnancy. Only put on bump weight not any where else. My mum was the same.

It means nothing though. Now, 11 years later, I am as heavy as I was at full term but with a more generalised largeness around hips, belly, arms etc.

As you can see by the responses on this thread, there is no 'normal'. Your body will do what it will do depending on genes, age, fitness pre pregnancy etc etc.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 08/10/2018 22:35

Less than a week with dc1. Probably about 3 months with dc2, although I put some of it on again (much bigger appetite while bf this time, combined with less opportunity to exercise)

TheClitterati · 08/10/2018 22:36

First one just a week or 2.
Second I'm not sure - spring baby and I don't wear jeans over summer.

fassone · 08/10/2018 22:37

Two weeks. I was 35.
But I’d also completely lost my appetite and was breastfeeding.

Ohyesiam · 08/10/2018 22:38

14 years and counting.

smallchanceofrain · 08/10/2018 22:41

13.5 years - still nowhere near. Grin

Ghanagirl · 08/10/2018 22:50

@Searchingforaschool
I think what’s depressing about this thread is the competitive boasting.
It’s 2018 and as women and mums the greatest achievement is getting back into size 6-8 jeans 2 days or 6 weeks postpartum😔
