Hello :)

I'm just curious really - I was talking to a friend and said I was hoping to be in my old clothes 3 months after the birth - it's my first baby and I'm naturally very slim, the only weight I've gained in the pregnancy is basically bump/baby. She said I was BU and that it would take at least 12 months! I know losing the weight really isn't the be all and end all but just for my own reasons really I'd love to be in a situation by then where my pre pregnancy clothes would fit (unless of course I have a c sect or very difficult birth that means I can't actually get out for walks and stuff for a while!)

I guess my question is am I being unrealistic? Interested to hear everyone else's stories?!

Within 2 months. I didn't put a great deal of weight on, just a few kg. By the time I actually felt like getting in the scales/had time/gave a toss, DS was already a few weeks old and I'd lost most of it. presumably through breastfeeding as I was snacking all the time because I was hungry a lot! Blush I stayed in maternity jeans though because I needed to buy new regular jeans as I'd thrown my pre pregnancy ones when I went into maternity jeans because they were a bit dire Grin
I brought some when DS was about 8 weeks old because I have not a toss how I looked until then Grin

I never did because my hips got bigger. I didn't think I'd gained/changed in any way aside from bump and boobs, it was only after I'd given birth and everything settled down I realised my body was very different and no amount of fat or muscle loss was going to make it go back to how it was. I was very slender before I got pregnant (something like 8 stone at 5'6") and pretty 'straight up and down' figure wise so it was definitely not just a fat thing.

Now I have more of an hourglass shape even though I wear much bigger jeans! So it worked out fine. Smile

I'd say just focus on feeling physically strong and healthy again since pregnancy is so exhausting. Then see how your body is once it's all settled down. Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

Mightymousie · 08/10/2018 09:08

Absolutely honestly, 10 days with my first. I was early 20’s, very slim. Early 30’s it took me 6 months. My last baby, well I’m not sure I ever will Grin

WasabiSpring · 08/10/2018 09:10

I mean - I like the new hourglass shape rather than the straight up and down, even though it means my jean size is bigger. Smile

AlphaJuno · 08/10/2018 09:12

First about 3 months
Second 2 weeks
Third is 6 months and I can just about fit in some bigger pairs from before.. I'm still bf and my boobs are massive. I still need to lose about a stone to be back to my normal size.

Amaaboutthis · 08/10/2018 09:15

My first was 10 days. The other 2 were a bit longer but not more than about 3 weeks. I definitely didn’t wear any maternity clothes after leaving hospital

Centreparcsooheer · 08/10/2018 09:16

10 days for both of mine. I was 32and 34 but naturally slim and you wouldn't have known from behind I was pregnant. Everyone is different though!

DuploRelatedInjury · 08/10/2018 09:18

with DC1 about 3 1/2 months after the birth. But I gained it all back when I stopped breastfeeding.

With DC2 I was below booking weight by 6 months but not comfortable in pre pregnancy jeans (still not at 14 months) as my shape and how I'm carrying weight has changed. I don't know if it's because I'm a few years older or to do with the c section.

0urKid · 08/10/2018 09:19

Immediately but only because my weight fluctuates and I swing between 3 sizes. Grin

thinkfast · 08/10/2018 09:19

Never

Chesterfieldsofa · 08/10/2018 09:19

Oh go on then, I'll do it, 13 years and still not.

NationalShiteDay · 08/10/2018 09:20

First one around 3 months I think.

Second one - well I'm 4months pp and have definitely got some hips going on still. I'm hoping to be in them by 6 months.

I put on LOADS of weight each time (4stone Blush ) and have lost 2.5 already. Need to keep breastfeeding until it's all off!!

Keeponlooking · 08/10/2018 09:21

Back in my about 6-8 weeks after. I had a c section and the thought of the waistband rubbing my scar would make me wince. The weight I put on was mostly baby etc. Think I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight a couple of weeks after birth with both babies. Breastfeeding helped massively to lose the weight.

silkpyjamasallday · 08/10/2018 09:22

I could get back into my skinny jeans after a week, but I was all bump and 21 when I had DD. I then continued eating lots of cake as breastfeeding tailed off and now haven't a hope of fitting into them, dd is now 2.

jellycat1 · 08/10/2018 09:22

First baby about 8 weeks. Super skinny jeans. Happy me.
Second baby about a year. Significantly less happy me!
No apparent reason for it either. I was no fatter/ bigger and the babies were both around the same weight. And they're only 17 months apart. I can only put it down to bone movement.

Singlebutmarried · 08/10/2018 09:23

A few days, by the time I deleivered I was over a stone lighter than pre pregnancy.

Wouldn’t recommend it tho, was quite poorly.

Moocoo · 08/10/2018 09:23

Day after giving birth ....i lost a lot of weight when pregnant so as soon as baby was out I was lighter than Pre-pregnancy.

whifflesqueak · 08/10/2018 09:24

I didn’t gain any weight during pregnancy so it was a net loss after the babies were born.

I was far too slobby and delicate to wear jeans for several months though.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 08/10/2018 09:24

Has she had a baby? Why even have a focus of pre-pregnancy size? Your body changes and it might never go back, it's all just luck really.

I was back in my biggest pre-pregnancy jeans at about 10 weeks (breastfeeding and a lot of my bump had been fluid) but my bra back size took months to return and my cup size stayed massive so I had to get a whole new lot of bras once I'd stopped breastfeeding and they settled down.

Keeping you and baby healthy and recovering from the birth are the most important goals. Good luck and enjoy your LO when they arrive.

rainingcatsanddog · 08/10/2018 09:24

3 weeks first time. I don't gain very much during pregnancy and no car meant lots of walking (exercise)

Kolo · 08/10/2018 09:27

My body completely changed. After both babies I was back to my original weight before maternity leave ended (a year), but I don’t think I got into the jeans I’d worn before having babies. Even my feet went up a size.

SmallestInTheClass · 08/10/2018 09:27

Amazed how quickly many got back to them so soon, not my experience or any of my mummy friends. It was between 9 months and a year for me. I BF and found a lot more weight dropped off after about 4-5 months as my DD got bigger and hungrier. Also did loads of walking with the buggy, tried to walk an hour each day.

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 08/10/2018 09:27

Oh,and I had an EMCS but also lots of help from DH and DM in the early weeks so I could focus on recovery.

spanishwife · 08/10/2018 09:28

I left the hospital in mine... everyone is different. Don't put pressure or deadlines on your recovery, just be kind to yourself.

TakeMe2Insanity · 08/10/2018 09:29

6 weeks BUT I was in them until 36 weeks and my baby was 5lb 12oz and tiny clothes were big on him.

If they don’t fit buy new jeans!
