Hello :)

I'm just curious really - I was talking to a friend and said I was hoping to be in my old clothes 3 months after the birth - it's my first baby and I'm naturally very slim, the only weight I've gained in the pregnancy is basically bump/baby. She said I was BU and that it would take at least 12 months! I know losing the weight really isn't the be all and end all but just for my own reasons really I'd love to be in a situation by then where my pre pregnancy clothes would fit (unless of course I have a c sect or very difficult birth that means I can't actually get out for walks and stuff for a while!)

I guess my question is am I being unrealistic? Interested to hear everyone else's stories?!

Back in mine at 3 months.

nomorespaghetti · 08/10/2018 08:55

I was back in my pre pregnancy jeans by about 3 months pp, but they were very tight! By 6 months they were much more comfortable (i went on weight watchers at about 4 mo pp to shift the last half a stone of baby weight). Had dc2 1 week ago and think it's going to take a lot longer this time!

fantasmasgoria1 · 08/10/2018 08:56

First one a month, second three months.

Dobbythesockelf · 08/10/2018 08:56

With my first I was in mine by 3 months. This time I'm still not their nearly 4 months on. Don't rush yourself or worry about it to much, it took 9 months to grow the baby, your whole body has gone through some massive changes so be kind on yourself.

BitchQueen90 · 08/10/2018 08:57

11 days. But I was 22 when DS was born and had always been naturally slim. I'm bigger now than I was straight after birth!

WhiteCoyote · 08/10/2018 08:57

19 days. I think it’s just pure luck though. I wasn’t eating particularly healthy for a few months after as I was too damn exhausted to cook so we lived on ready meals mostly. I think it might be one of those luck things, like how soon your baby starts sleeping through.

tillytrotter1 · 08/10/2018 08:58

First one, a week! Second one not sure I ever did, certainly not the same size.

Faster · 08/10/2018 08:58

I’m not in mine. DS is 15mo. Don’t care particularly. I had a csection, difficult recovery, PND and became a single parent by the time DS was 7mo. Life can only be planned so far.

CuppaSarah · 08/10/2018 08:58

First one a year
Second one 6 months
Third one 4 weeks

It's totally unpredictable.

XiCi · 08/10/2018 08:59

I think it really depends how old you are.
1st at age 19 walked out of the hospital in my size 8 jeans. 2nd time had a c-section age 39 and it took 6 months and a low carb diet to get back in my skinnies.

Chipsahoy · 08/10/2018 08:59

About 6 weeks, but I don't gain much whilst pregnant, so once uterus had shrunk I can get back in my jeans. I have opposite problem, I lose too much weight. Currently bf a 5 month old and look gaunt and ill , it's hortible. I won't be back to normal until he's feeding much less.
Don't rush, these things take time, your body has been through major changes. Skin, hair, weight, all take time to settle.

Believeitornot · 08/10/2018 08:59

Quite quickly. A couple of months or so.

However instead of focussing on being slim again I would concentrate on being healthy and physically strong especially your core and pelvic floor.

Justwaitingforaline · 08/10/2018 08:59

Straight after birth, I went home in them, but I was just 20 and had an ‘all baby’ bump. If we ever get number two after IVF, I’m sure it will be a different story but I’m very okay with that.

coffeekittens · 08/10/2018 08:59

11 days to get into a size 8 pair of skinny jeans, but I was 19, a size 6 pre-pregnancy and did a lot of walking during my pregnancy to keep fit for labour however I’ll never be a size 6 again. Each woman/pregnancy is different

WTFdidwedo · 08/10/2018 09:00

First one, I didn't, and was pregnant with number 2 at 8 months post partum. After number 2 it only took 3 or 4 months.

I was also naturally slim and had always been a size 6 but I actually found that worse because my hips and ribcage seemed to expand massively. I wasn't carrying much more weight in particular, I just seemed to have gained a lot more bone!

Mummyh2016 · 08/10/2018 09:00

About 10 days. I had terrible morning sickness at the start though and as I’m naturally quite slim I was hardly eating towards the end as baby was crushing my stomach and bowels. I think I put around a stone on excluding weight of the actual baby. Would happily have put more on if it meant I would’ve enjoyed pregnancy, I hated being pregnant which makes me sad!

ISpeakJive · 08/10/2018 09:01

With my first, I was in my clothes within a week.
Second took slightly longer.
The third, 6 months.

hungryhippie · 08/10/2018 09:01

First one, about 6 months
Second one, I never did and got pregnant again a few months after.
My 3rd is now 2 and im still not... oh well, I dont really care to be honest

ferntwist · 08/10/2018 09:03

Three months and I put on much more weight than you. Breastfeeding helped massively. I was very disciplined and calorie-counted from when my baby was about 10 days old. Nothing crazy, just staying below 1,800-2,000 calories.

originalusernamefail · 08/10/2018 09:03

I left the hospital in ‘normal’ clothes, however I am a fat lass who got HG so was actually two stone lighter at 40 weeks than at conception. I DO NOT recommend my way OP Wink

onewayoflife · 08/10/2018 09:04

2 weeks for me. But in my family everyone seems to lose the baby weight almost immediately with their first, then really struggle and never really lose it all after their second.

thereallifesaffy · 08/10/2018 09:04

First - within 2 months ( with no extra exercise or effort), second - about 6 mo the with gym work. Now though, 20 years on, Im still slim but would never fit into those jeans! It's about the long haul, I now realise!

gothefcktosleep · 08/10/2018 09:06

About 6 weeks... breastfeeding and have found the weight just drops off despite a diet of mainly cake and biscuits.

ileclerc · 08/10/2018 09:07

A few days but I was actually lighter when I delivered than when I got pregnant. Dts were squashing my stomach and I really couldn't eat much at all towards the end.

SnuggyBuggy · 08/10/2018 09:07

A month. She was a hungry baby
