Hello :)

I'm just curious really - I was talking to a friend and said I was hoping to be in my old clothes 3 months after the birth - it's my first baby and I'm naturally very slim, the only weight I've gained in the pregnancy is basically bump/baby. She said I was BU and that it would take at least 12 months! I know losing the weight really isn't the be all and end all but just for my own reasons really I'd love to be in a situation by then where my pre pregnancy clothes would fit (unless of course I have a c sect or very difficult birth that means I can't actually get out for walks and stuff for a while!)

I guess my question is am I being unrealistic? Interested to hear everyone else's stories?!

Within weeks with number one. Like you I was very slim. I had a section too. After baby 2 though...probably took about 6 months!

Instacrumb · 08/10/2018 09:59

A week after, as I only gained 12lb in my pregnancy due to having zero appetite. Can't get in them 5 months later though Grin

NotAQueef · 08/10/2018 09:59

Fairly quickly (but overweight to start with) - my hips were wider than before for a while so they didn't fit exactly the same

Exhaustion makes you crave easy energy so you want sweet, fatty, carby food with a little baby. Just get through it, there are more important things than the size of your arse.

StarfishSandwich · 08/10/2018 10:00

It took until it felt comfortable to put jeans on with my c section scar... about 3-4 weeks? I gained about 11kg during pregnancy and am just over pre-pregnancy weight almost 5 weeks post-delivery. I have one pair of jeans that doesn’t quite fit right yet (and a couple that do) but that seems to be more of a change in shape than anything. I’m mid 20s and very athletic though so suspect I’ve found recovery comparatively easy.

One week DC1 (I had really bad heartburn and hardly gained any weight) but then I put on nearly a stone breastfeeding! (Eat what you want they said, so I did)

Hmm about 3 years DC2!

PeapodBurgundy · 08/10/2018 10:06

DS (first baby at 27) I was in skinny jeans a size smaller than my pre-baby clothes size at 4 days pp. DD is 7 weeks (2nd baby at 30) and my stomach is all loose, soft and puffy still. I can wear some pre-baby things but not many. Mainly living in leggings and jeggings with dresses or tunics over.

Calmingvibrations · 08/10/2018 10:07

Still not in mine - 15 months down the line. Not too bothered.

Amirite · 08/10/2018 10:07

2 weeks after a c section but breastfeeding Twins and the stress of nicu will do that to a person!

Morgan12 · 08/10/2018 10:08

Few weeks with both children. Size 12/14 and gained around 2 stone with each.

First one was because I literally couldn't eat for a week. I think my body was in shock after a traumatic birth.

Second was a c-section and was in my old clothes after 3 weeks. No idea how.

LoniceraJaponica · 08/10/2018 10:15

Age has nothing to do with it. I had DD at 41 and was back in my jeans when she was 3 weeks old. No stretch marks either.

I only had a bump, and didn't put on weight elsewhere, not even my boobs Sad. I couldn't eat much when I was pregnant as DD took up most of my stomach space, so I would feel full after a few mouthfuls.

I bf exclusively to start with as well, so my uterus shrunk to its prepregnancy state within 10 days.

Bbbbbbbb2017 · 08/10/2018 10:19

The day i gave birth with my oldest i went to hosp in my standard jeans

LRL2017 · 08/10/2018 10:19

5 days but I was very ill during pregnancy and gained hardly any weight

Chwaraeteg · 08/10/2018 10:24

First time = three years. Second time = 5 months. Breastfed both times, and both times I got huge in pregnancy and gained double what you are 'supposed'to.

I think the difference the 2nd time was that I couldn't sit around on my bum gazing adoringly at the baby all day!

Holimay · 08/10/2018 10:25

Can do them up now, 6 months in. Put on a lot of weight during pregnancy (+1/3rd what I started with), now half a stone off my usual. I can't say I care that much-I've been life-threateningly ill in the past, and delivery was hairy-now I feel strong and well and I'm just glad we're all here.

Littlegreyauditor · 08/10/2018 10:26

Within a week, both times. In fact I had to wear the jeans that fitted me when I was 24 and everything was still taut and toned. Sounds great, doesn’t it? People certainly reacted as if it was the best thing ever...

BUT, I had HG and diabetes both times, boaked like a champion, felt desperate, needed iron transfusions, spiralling insulin doses and freaked out my consultants and midwives to the point that I had a full crash team in the room with me for my section.

I have since lost, and am slowly regaining, the sight in one eye due to having heaved up all my Intrinsic Factor, leaving me unable to process dietary B12 and needing monthly injections for the foreseeable future.

I lost weight in pregnancy, both times. I look ill in all the photos, probably because I was ill. In the aftermath, when I was fricking delighted to be able to eat anything at all without tasting it in both directions, I had several people, all women, bemoan how fabulous I looked, so slim. I looked like a skull with skin.

It’s a fucked up world we live in, right enough.

(I no longer fit the jeans that 24 year old me wore by the way. Probably because I can keep food down).

Eatmycheese · 08/10/2018 10:26

Baby one - a week.
Baby two - four months
Baby three - two and a half months or so

But the little roo pouch has never gone away 🤭

Mumof1andacat · 08/10/2018 10:27

If u ask my my mum it's 33 years and counting...

IJustLostTheGame · 08/10/2018 10:27

A week, I did have to squish the excess skin in a bit though. My bump was all baby, and horrendous heartburn meant I didn't eat much.

MindBodyChocolate · 08/10/2018 10:28

4 years on and still not back in them 🤣 Don’t care.

MotherOfTheNoise · 08/10/2018 10:29

I'm 4 days over with my 3rd and wearing the jeans I walked in to hospital to have my first 6 years ago...I've always been slim though and just gain big bumps (and massive nawks!)

Bowlofbabelfish · 08/10/2018 10:31

Six weeks. I had HG though and didn’t gain much.

cushioncovers · 08/10/2018 10:32

17 years and counting

Annalogy · 08/10/2018 10:36

Please don't stress yourself out over this Sad

Bookvan · 08/10/2018 10:38

12 years Blush
