Hello :)

I'm just curious really - I was talking to a friend and said I was hoping to be in my old clothes 3 months after the birth - it's my first baby and I'm naturally very slim, the only weight I've gained in the pregnancy is basically bump/baby. She said I was BU and that it would take at least 12 months! I know losing the weight really isn't the be all and end all but just for my own reasons really I'd love to be in a situation by then where my pre pregnancy clothes would fit (unless of course I have a c sect or very difficult birth that means I can't actually get out for walks and stuff for a while!)

I guess my question is am I being unrealistic? Interested to hear everyone else's stories?!

I was thinner in pregnancy due to hg so went home in my normal clothes would like to say I've kept the weight of but that'd be a lie 🤥

JuliaRobbers · 08/10/2018 09:33

A year. Blush

Metalhead · 08/10/2018 09:33

About a month. Breastfeeding really seemed to burn the calories for me.

Allegorical · 08/10/2018 09:35

It takes me about a upward each time ( on no 3) and have a stone and a half to shift but then all my weight goes on my tum which doesn’t help and I tend not to lose the lady stone of weight till I stop breast feeding as my appetite is always big when feeding.

Catnut · 08/10/2018 09:35

18 months!!! I piled on the weight once my baby was about 3 weeks old and I lived in comfy clothes until my driving instructor told me that she was glad I'd worn a smart outfit for my driving test because a lot of my wardrobe was a bit 'mumsy'! Grin

Foreverexhausted · 08/10/2018 09:36

I was like you with my first, weight gained was all baby and back in normal clothes within two weeks.

Second baby about six weeks.

Allegorical · 08/10/2018 09:36

Takes me a year that should say.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 08/10/2018 09:37

I don't know exactly (I hate jeans and avoid them if possible!) but it would 't have been long. But, I am overweight and lost weight when pregnant and lost even more breastfeeding. However, I found my shape changed. I used to always have a flat stomach and massive thighs/bum, now I have a ever so slightly smaller bum and thighs and a fatter tummy, which I hate!
Don't beat yourself up over it though, if you get into them, great, but if you don't give yourself a bit more time.

lubeybooby · 08/10/2018 09:38

22 years and counting.. got pretty close at one point about a year pp though

GhostsToMonsoon · 08/10/2018 09:38

I think it was about 2 weeks both times.

Rosedale · 08/10/2018 09:42

Back in mine within a week (size 10)

Loyaultemelie · 08/10/2018 09:42

First pregnancy, Dd1 I walked out of hospital in my pre pregnancy jeans but I had her at 32 weeks and had a bump that looked about 16 weeks. Next pregnancy twins(second trimester miscarriage) big bump about 3 months, third pregnancy dd2 around 9 months

Stuckforthefourthtime · 08/10/2018 09:43

First one about a week. Just had my fourth and have about a stone to lose, so it'll take me a while Blush

NoUnicornsToSeeHere · 08/10/2018 09:44

Within a week both times. I’m a squishy size 16/18 and I think that my bump fills the squish, so as soon as the uterus goes down the squish comes back.

Due today so we’ll see what it’s like this time round....

Madeline18 · 08/10/2018 09:45

About two months but others in my antenatal group were quicker!

Karenoid · 08/10/2018 09:45

If I ever get back into mine I'll let you know 😂

Lookingforadvice123 · 08/10/2018 09:46

Two or three months I think, I was slim pre-pregnancy too but gained loads, I'd say about 3 stone. The majority of it fell off though, in the early weeks I was too tired and questioning my life too much to have much of an appetite so food was very much fuel! And I had a straight forward V birth so was back exercising, walking with the pram etc early on.

Dreading how long it'll take with my second, I told myself before I wouldn't gain too much weight but I needed to eat carbs and crisps through the nausea up until week 14, and now at week 21 I'm just starving all the time! People say I'm all bump but it's definitely gone on my thighs, hips.

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 08/10/2018 09:48

First baby by two weeks, and then lost quite a bit more breastfeeding. Second baby maybe by three months, but I didn’t breastfeed. Third baby I went from a size 6 to a size 20, was down to a 12 by the day after I had him, but took about nine months to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

KeysHairbandNotepad · 08/10/2018 09:50

Ds is 11 months and I'm not in my old jeans yet.

I bought new ones a size bigger and wear those though. Does that count?

QueenOfMyWorld · 08/10/2018 09:53

12-18 months

EvaGraceMummy2015 · 08/10/2018 09:55

First baby-within a week (I breastfed though and they say that makes your uterus contract back) and like yourself I literally just put 'baby' on..

I'm 37 weeks with twins now and due any day so I'm hoping I'll be as lucky this time! 🙈 I've not put any weight on apart from baby again this time (feel like I've actually lost some in other places due to eating normally and the babies taking everything/3 year old to run after) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏼

Either way just enjoy your baby and don't worry about anything else 😊 it really does go so quick when they're newborn😩

Wonkypalmtree · 08/10/2018 09:55

About 7/8 weeks but then I rediscovered wine and gained a bit

thismumismad · 08/10/2018 09:55

First twin pregnancy was back in old jeans when I got home 4 days later they took my butt Grin but second pregnancy a singleton it was 3 months.

reetgood · 08/10/2018 09:57

A month. I had an emergency c section, so getting jeans on was not a priority! I lived in my maternity jeans for ages because the waistband was comfortable. I lost my appetite for the first week too. I didn’t make any effort to lose weight, but breastfeeding plus daily walking once I was mobile to try and get the baby to sleep/ stop me losing my mind turns out to be an excellent weight loss strategy. And I was eating a LOT. I am a slightly different shape than I used to be though, so they fit differently.

puzzledlady · 08/10/2018 09:57

Same day I gave birth - I didn’t gain much on my lower half.
