to ask if you wear leggings?

My DH keeps making comments about my leggings - he says things like "are all your other clothes in the wash?"

I always wear a longish, flowy top which covers my hips and bum. When I ask him why he's making these comments he just says he's joking and I need to get a sense of humour!

Are leggings just for very slim women?

I never wear leggings, I like to be able to wear a belt.

Tomatoesrock · 08/10/2018 00:51

I wear leggings or jeggings alot. They are comfy and look nice, especially with high heels, I'm more of a wedge boot these days.

Wear what you like or what is comfortable big or small. As long as you're happy who cares. Ask your DH since when did he become an image consultant.

penisbeakers · 08/10/2018 01:25

Tell him to piss off. Yes I wear leggings. They're perfectly fine to wear under stuff, as lower body clothing, inside, outside, wherever you want.

MarcieBluebell · 08/10/2018 01:44

Would never wear legging. I would feel like I was in my pj's.

ferrier · 08/10/2018 06:53

Why are leggings snobbish but tights not?
And who in their right mind could claim that jeans are more comfortable than leggings?
I'm a size 10 and I look pretty decent in a pair of sports leggings with a shorter top, ie shock horror with my bum on display. And I also wear them in the time honoured fashion with longer tunics, dresses and jumpers and knee or calf length boots. Love them.

PS. To If the jeans are uncomfortable then they're the wrong jeans
Jeans are uncomfortable because the ones which look good .... skinnies etc squish everything up. The others- mum jeans etc. look awful and I refuse to wear them.

ferrier · 08/10/2018 06:53

slobbish not snobbish

twocats335 · 08/10/2018 06:57

Everyday for me. Love my leggings because they're the comfiest thing!

Dumbledora · 08/10/2018 07:10

I'm size 22-24. Ironically when I was slimmer (size 16ish) I always thought I was too fat for leggings.

Fast forward a few years and dress sizes and now I love leggings and jeggings, always wear with tunics or long tops that come to mid thigh at the shortest. Always go for decent thickness and big black granny pants with no vpl.
They are far comfier than jeans or trousers. I love them!!

Dumbledora · 08/10/2018 07:15

Do guys have similar conversations? "Do you wear jeans or tracksuit bottoms?"
Grin

AjasLipstick · 08/10/2018 07:45

Dumble I've seen them do it on Reddit...so yes. They definitely ask about what each other wears and what might look best for certain occasions.

Lethaldrizzle · 08/10/2018 07:50

Weirdly I like leggings but not jeggings. Cross pollination is just plain wrong.

cholka · 08/10/2018 13:33

Leggings on whoever wants them but I don't want to be able to see your labia or buttocks through them. I only wear them with a skirt or dress.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 08/10/2018 13:40

I'm wearing them right now (still early in the USA, just come back from the school run). I always wear them around the house and to exercise 'cos they're so comfy. I wouldn't wear them to work, but a quick run to the supermarket is fine. Lots of people wear them here.

My DD says I have a "deflated" bum (I have a boyish figure), whereas she has curves, but I don't care. DH doesn't either...he wears manky jeans or old shorts at home. Getting him to change when he leaves the house is often a problem. Grin

DarlingNikita · 08/10/2018 16:05

I wear them loads. I work at home and like to be comfortable. Mind you, I used to wear them sometimes when I had an office job too.

Always with a long top though (Bamboo Clothing do some that are a great length for this), apart from my workout leggings, which I wear with waist-, hip- or crop-length tops. But that's different.

I like the variety in colours, stripes and prints you can get. I can wear the biggest size from GapKids and they have some great prints, often in the sale.

I get bored by my clothes quite fast and they're an easy way to keep my wardrobe feeling fresh.

eightoclock · 08/10/2018 16:10

With a long top leggings look smart, especially for fatter women. Would always cover my bum though - even for skinny people - once aged over about 12.

Oblomov18 · 08/10/2018 16:10

Never. Never have, never will. But that's because I am very short and don't have the legs for them.

But he does have a point. We should probably all wear different clothes, not the same thing every day: one day skirt, one day jeans, one day a dress etc.

Lethaldrizzle · 08/10/2018 16:31

Really?!

Bluntness100 · 08/10/2018 16:49

I've no desire to wear dresses and skirts ,,

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/10/2018 16:53

And I have no desire to wear trousers...

Can we all just bloody agree it's horses for sodding courses???

soupforbrains · 08/10/2018 16:56

I wear leggings quite a lot but I have 2 rules for doing so.

  1. they must absolutely NOT be even in the slightest bit see-through.
  1. Leggings are a substitute for tights, not a substitute for trousers. i.e. nobody should be able to see your bum or crotch, and you should be wearing a dress, skirt or VERY long top. (the only exception to this rule is for wearing actually sportswear leggings and doing actual sport.

I love leggings because they are comfy and avoid chub-rub etc when wearing a skirt. However they are never smart or smart-casual clothing, they're always very much casual.

sunglasses123 · 08/10/2018 17:31

They are SO comfy. However there are some women who wear them and it does them no favours at all. Bottom showing, VPL and if you are overweight they look much much worse (Sorry, just saying...) I think they could do better.

Angel75 · 08/10/2018 17:32

I live in leggings, or my skinny jeans if I'm going anywhere special. I'm about a size 14 atm, I go up and down from a 10 to a 14 and I wear them no matter what my weight is. I also have about 5 pairs of identical black ones, so it must look like i've had them on for days if I don't throw in a different pair every now and then. Ive got a denim look pair and a red velvet pair if I fancy a change from black.

OutPinked · 08/10/2018 17:32

Keep the leggings, ditch the husband.

I don’t usually wear them unless I’m excercising but at 36 weeks pregnant, they are a daily occurrence and a godsend. There’s no way I’m arsed with jeans and tights at this stage and it’s too cold to go without.

OutPinked · 08/10/2018 17:35

Do guys have similar conversations? "Do you wear jeans or tracksuit bottoms?"

They actually do! My DP’s friends have jipped him for still wearing black skinny jeans. They do suit him best though, I can’t imagine him in anything else (other than his suit trousers).

BlueCookieMonster · 08/10/2018 17:35

I wear leggings all the time, ignore the dh, he sounds horrid.
