I have been listening to someone outside moan to their friend about the weather, the cold, the price of heating for 10 minutes now. Can we have some positives?

I like the festive hot chocolates at Costa and seeing young kids out in the snow for the first time Smile

Lying in my cosy bed listening to the rain beating the window and the wind clattering outside.

Getting to go to bed at 9pm and not feeling like life is passing you by because you should be sitting in the garden drinking cider or something.

Neverender · 30/09/2018 13:50

Jumpers, big fluffy socks and getting in from the cold. Brrrr ❄️

squirrelonapetridish · 30/09/2018 13:51

Wearing autumn /Winter clothes, tights with dresses, boots etc..love it! I can't get on board with summer dressing. Sunny but chilly days, wrapping up warm and going for long walks. Cosy pubs with log fires, Sunday roasts...there's too much to mention!!

Kissmycousinkate · 30/09/2018 13:57

Coming in from work, Jammies on ,closing the curtains and not feeling I have to go out again unless I really need to.

SneakyGremlins · 30/09/2018 14:07

Yes to all these! Grin

Using my slow cooker to cook casseroles and stews. Love warm autumn/ winter dinners.

Seeing the autumn colours on the trees - gorgeous. Not having to mow the lawn for months - yay!

Wearing snuggly warm boots and thick socks. Chunky scarves and Woolley hats.

GnomeDePlume · 30/09/2018 14:22

Working on my allotment. Beds are now getting cleared, next year's garlic is in. The hot box in the polytunnel has been moved to its new position. The rotted down manure/woodchip mix has been spread on the bed.

Come winter I will top the hot box up with fresh horse poo and use the heat generated to warm the seed trays up to speed germination. I love working in the tunnel with an audio book playing and hot tea in the flask.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 30/09/2018 14:23

Candles and real fires. Boots and tights. Not being able to see the dust so much on darker evenings!

thismeansnothing · 30/09/2018 14:26

Dog walks/walking DD to school in the crisp cold sunshine then that satisfying brew when I get back in.

Twinkly lights and candles

Wearing thick wool bobble hat, gloves and scarves, generally being all wrapped up

Hunting for conkers

Shorter days

Chai lattes, never drink them any other time

The run up to Christmas. Christmas cooking tv, bad Xmas twenty four films, Christmas markets, getting our Christmas cd out on Dec first

Eyebrows2016 · 30/09/2018 14:28

Means my DD is nearly here. Family of four for Christmas. Longest summer of my life! Smile

Sitranced · 30/09/2018 14:31

The cat becomes more a lapcat in the winter for warmth and seeing as I don't fidget as much as DH she picks my lap to sit on more than him. House rules say the chosen one shouldn't move which means DH is the one to make the tea Grin

BatShitBitchChops · 30/09/2018 14:31

I am in a hoodie under a blanket with a candle on, if DD would let me have a nap it would be a pretty perfect afternoon!
I love this time of year, I hate summer.

MamasGarden · 30/09/2018 14:31

I love the cold. I was born in winter in northern England. Love shopping for mittens, scarves, woolly hats and seeing my DC dressed all snug. When there are more autumn leaves they like to go and rake them up and jump in them. Drinking hot chocolate by the fireplace. Also like to go sledging when it snows and having badly built snowmen in our garden. While I enjoy the clear blue skies in summer and spring I quite like the auburn leaves on the ground and skeletal trees in autumn more. And there's Christmas!

TarquinGyrfalcon · 30/09/2018 14:37

Wearing boots and tights.
Crisp frosty mornings.
Lighting the fire in the evening.
Hearing the central heating click on about half an hour before I have to get up.
Winter food - casseroles, stews etc
Wearing my lovely cosy winter coat.

easyandy101 · 30/09/2018 14:40

That it eventually ends

MereDintofPandiculation · 30/09/2018 14:53

Sunrise comes at a reasonable hour in the morning - you don't have to get up stupidly early to see it.

You can watch the bats come out as you finish tea in the evening.

elQuintoConyo · 30/09/2018 15:02

We have 8 days holiday between 1st September and 8th December Grin i always look forward to the autumn term!

I look forward to walking the dog without sweating to death, and walking her on the beach after 15th Oct because it is off-season.

Making pine cone, conker, acorn and autumn-leaf art with DS.

Getting out the autumn wreath for the front door. Putting up the autumn decorations.

It is cold enough in the morning to eat porridge, cool enough to sleep at night - i have my autumn pyjamas on, yay (have slept naked since mid-April).

I love the run up to mid-winter-present-fest (not mentioning the C-word) as we do it very gently and there is nothing manic about it, just a few easy delightful traditions and excitement.

Unpacking my winter wardrobe because i'm so sick of my summer clothes; it's like meeting old reliable friends again.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 30/09/2018 15:08

Sorry, nothing about winter is good.

ilovesooty · 30/09/2018 15:15

The last day of February when spring is in sight.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/09/2018 15:19

The best thing about winter is that by 14th Feb it is not quite dark at 5.30pm. Oh and you can get daffs in Tesco the 2nd week in January.
The thought of scraping the car every morning and going to and coming home from work for 4 months in the dark fills me with dread.

JaceLancs · 30/09/2018 15:26

Getting out my winter wardrobe
Not having to shave my legs
Warm snuggly clothing
Electric blanket

Thatstheendofmytether · 30/09/2018 15:28

Putting the heating on and it being cosy.
I like the cold because I love wearing a winter jacket and a pair of boots (My favourite type of footwear!
Going out for a run/jog in winter because sometimes it's just too hot in the summer. Much prefer when it's colder and sometimes like a bit of rain 😂.

PenguinRoar · 30/09/2018 15:29

Autumn wardrobe! Live the colours and the comfort.

Big long, muddy walks and hot baths with blanket covered sofas.

Making soup every weekend and roast dinners

Pub fires and whiskey.

SneakyGremlins · 30/09/2018 15:30

None of the pubs here have an open fire Sad
