Supposed to be cleaning the bathroom, but just saw that discussion on the intro bit , so might put the bathroom off for a bit!

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 28/09/2018 10:36

Discussing what?

MrsStrowman · 28/09/2018 10:36

Ugh India Willoughby

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 28/09/2018 10:37

Oh that. Nah not my thing.

MrsStrowman · 28/09/2018 10:43

Unfortunately she isn't coming across very well which is a shame

AnnabelTheAntelope · 28/09/2018 10:45

Agree with you strowman. She seems very lacking in empathy.

WatchOutForTheCar · 28/09/2018 10:46

Well that didn't go well!

NobodyToVoteForNow · 28/09/2018 10:47

India Willoughby is on and it's Posy you think is 'lacking in empathy'?! She must be having a bad day

MrsStrowman · 28/09/2018 10:49

I actually agree that women's issues are being oppressed and challenged by trans focus eg not being allowed to discuss the menopause and its impact on the workplace at a union meeting because the new trans chair said it was discriminatory as only cis women are affected, she had the same views on pregnancy and maternity rights (personal example) , the dangers in the prison estate, something I see daily, and erosion of women only spaces. However I do recognise the struggle of trans women and think they need support and recognition, just not to the detriment of women (I will never refer to myself as a cis woman).

AnnabelTheAntelope · 28/09/2018 10:50

I went really badly. Posie came across really badly. I didn’t know of her till that program and she really looked like a rigid, insensitive person; all shrugs and a bit sneers and “no, not really”. Not good at all.

AnnabelTheAntelope · 28/09/2018 10:51

*sneery

RepealtheGRA · 28/09/2018 10:53

I hope they ask the 112 year old women what she thinks of this.

Fucks sake Eamonn! “You look like sisters”, “you obviously go to the same hairdresser”? Bit rude to Deirdre.

RepealtheGRA · 28/09/2018 10:55

I am not warming to Eamonn Shock

NobodyToVoteForNow · 28/09/2018 10:56

I see the two as completely separate group: Women are 51 % of the population and have had thousands of years of slavery, lifelong marital rape, confinement to the home, being treated as disposable 'things' for men to destroy with no consequences to contend with.

Trans women are less than one percent of the population, and are men who believe religiously that they have an immortal 'female soul' residing in their bodies. There is simply no overlap. It's like comparing chalk and cheese. Totally different set of problems and experiences.

AnnabelTheAntelope · 28/09/2018 10:56

Neither is Grace!

Love the picture of her wedding dress though. So cool.

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 11:01

She's not a MNetter, hasn't she been banned? Apologies if not, but if so pretty misleading OP.
Oh, and no I'm doing some tidying instead with some music on. Grin

PiperPublickOccurrences · 28/09/2018 11:07

Eamonn thinks it's fine for a woman - you, me, your teenage daughter, my mum - to have an intimate body search done by a man who says he's a woman.

Let's not be coy. That means it's perfectly acceptable for a man, with a penis, without any surgery whatsoever or hormone treatment or anything to stick his fingers up your vagina and into your anus. All he needs to do is say "i'm a woman".

And if you object, you're a transphobe.

AnnabelTheAntelope · 28/09/2018 11:10

What? When did Eamonn say that? I tuned in towards the end of the interview, so must have missed it.

hackmum · 28/09/2018 11:11

Yup. I wonder if he'd be happy for his own daughter to be subjected to that.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 28/09/2018 11:12

It was towards the beginning, Posie said something along the lines of "If i left here today and was arrested, a male officer with a penis would be allowed to intimately search me and I'm not OK with that".

Eamonn said along the lines of "but they identify as a woman".

Gersemi · 28/09/2018 11:18

YABU. Some of us have to work. (On a short break before you ask, not allowed to watch TV during breaks).

Jaxtellerswife · 28/09/2018 11:19

India's facial surgery is very well done.

AnnabelTheAntelope · 28/09/2018 11:21

Oh I saw that, I assumed he was trying to get her to explain it a bit more... like, yes, but not all self-identifying women will be like India etc. Low moment when India asked if she was raped, could she access a women’s rape crisis centre and Posie said no; fine, I’ve heard that a lot and I totally understand the argument. But then India said where would I go and Posie sneered a bit and said “make your own refuge”. It sounded really harsh. She could have said the same thing but phrased it a lot better than [fuck you] “make your own” when they were talking about rape.

I have to admit I didn’t know either of the interviewees beforehand, so maybe if I did, I’d feel differently.

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 11:22

Piper = yeah, but if they're a transwoman, Eammon's right if he said that. As in they're not a male officer, they're a transperson.
To keep insisting transwomen are men is transphobic whether you like that fact are not.
