All i know of P P is she shouted penis a lot on a ch4 programme her hatred for transwomen isn't that well hidden and that doesn't get her point across very well imo

PiperPublickOccurrences · 28/09/2018 11:27

So you'd be fine with someone who has that morning declared that they are a woman sticking their fingers inside you?

Because I wouldn't.

Transwomen are transwomen. They're not women

That doesn't mean they shouldn't have their rights protected because they aboslutely should. Every single person has the right to live in the way they choose and we should all be fine with that.

But MY rights as a woman - and my daughter's rights as a Guide - are being thrown under the bus. We're just not as important as transwomen, apparently.

MrsStrowman · 28/09/2018 11:28

@PiperPublickOccurrences I absolutely agree

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 11:31

Agree MrsJayy.

AnnabelTheAntelope · 28/09/2018 11:35

Exactly! Could you not have gone on This Morning instead of Posie and said this^^? She did come across to me as someone who disliked and had no empathy for trans people.

MrsJayy · 28/09/2018 11:40

I understand how bloody irritating India Williboubhy is and how angry women are but Posie just comes over as sneery and aggressive everytime she talks

RachaelGeller · 28/09/2018 11:44

Anyone got a link to a video of this?

SirVixofVixHall · 28/09/2018 11:45

But “empathy for trans people “ is not the issue. It isn’t the responsibility of women to shore up anyone. IW is totally lacking in empathy for women, but that isn’t raised.i think we all remember that IW was the person screaming at an 80 year old woman on Big Brother.
Women are losing their rights, whether we empathise with someone’s unhappiness in their own skin is irrelevent.

MissionItsPossible · 28/09/2018 11:47

I thought the hosts came across as dismissive, India came across as petulant and the guest came across as rude. Not a good interview on any of their parts really. Eamon in particular, as always, was insufferable.

skippy67 · 28/09/2018 11:48

Transwomen are not women.

RepealtheGRA · 28/09/2018 11:49

Eamonn thinks it's fine for a woman - you, me, your teenage daughter, my mum - to have an intimate body search done by a man who says he's a woman.

I too saw that! Absolutely horrified! How can he possibly think that’s an OK thing to think, let alone say on national TV! Bizarre.

Is that just him then? I haven’t watched this for years, was horrified by him.

The three others have lengthy careers in the media behind them. Posie has not been media trained, she is a normal person. I am oppinionated and can hold my own in an argument but in that situation, where it is being steered towards an end point by the programme, it is extraordinarily difficult. She held her own far better than any other person I’ve seen put in that position. Usually they bring on sweet four year olds who we are told are trans, and then pitch any concern as far right religious extremism.
The focus on Poor India and her Journey completely took away from Posie’s very reasonable argument.
I am sick of being told that we should be sympathetic and nice, when we are discussing something like being examined by a male police officer.

LagerthaTheShieldMaiden · 28/09/2018 11:52

To keep insisting transwomen are men is transphobic whether you like that fact are not

How? Only men can become transwomen. How is stating that absolute fact transphobic? Saying that word whenever someone says something you don't like doesn't make it true. TW are not women. It's not "hate", it's fact.

Deadringer · 28/09/2018 11:53

She was very defensive but it was three against one and presumably India is a colleague of Ruth and Eamon so they were very much in her corner and made the interview all about her imo. I don't understand why posie didn't explain that most trans women don't have surgery and many are attracted to women, wouldn't that have supported her argument about the intimate search? I would have asked India why she felt the poster excludes her if is she is a woman. Disappointing that they had no calls from feminists supporting posie.

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 11:56

Yes, only men can become transwomen. When they've transitioned, they're women. Not biologically, granted, but they are transwomen. Women. To keep discriminating against and denying that/their existence is transphobic.

XXaghast · 28/09/2018 11:57

Transwomen are not women.

Eamonn "as a man" interviewer was incredibly lacking in empathy to women. His co host was extremely silent given she is a woman. So it seemed to me an interview designed around "what about the poor menz feelingz" and completely ignoring the point that the definition of the word woman is being erased.

Women are allowed to be angry.

Saw no empathy for women from any of the men on that show. Zero.

EvePolastri · 28/09/2018 11:57

Its not transphobic to share an opinion though

MrsJayy · 28/09/2018 11:58

If Posie is the voice then she maybe needs to have some media training or better support saying she is an ordinary person is fine but people also say the likes of Tommy Robinson is an ordinary person not that i am saying P P is anything like him but if Posie wants to be listened too she has to come over better than India not sneering at people which she is doing.

BiologyMatters · 28/09/2018 11:59

to keep insisting transwomen are menistransphobic whether you like that fact are not.

I don't care if you think its transphobic, I think it's more important to be honest than it is to be nice all the time. Transwomen are males. It beggars belief how anyone can look at the actions of jess Bradley and Karen white for just two out of many examples and agree that they're women. I really can't wrap my head around that. I can only assume it's female socialization to be nice at all costs coming in to play. If thinking that a rapist paedophile and an exhibitionist who like to get their penis out in public areas, take pictures and post them online (who incites underage males to do the same) are not women is transphobic, well guess what? I'm absolutely 100% fine with that. Call me transphobic if you want. I know I'm not. As posie said on sky news, ive got nothing against transwomen. I just don't think they're women.

HurricaneFloss · 28/09/2018 12:00

Was Posie saying that a police officer with a PENIS (that's a MAN to simple folk like me) went to Court to be allowed to INTIMATELY search a WOMAN who'd been arrested? And Eamon was saying that's OK because the person with a penis considered themselves to be a woman?

BiologyMatters · 28/09/2018 12:00

Disappointing that they had no calls from feminists supporting posie.

They probably did. Doesn't mean they will get put through on air!

VerbeenaBeeks · 28/09/2018 12:01

people also say the likes of Tommy Robinson is an ordinary person

Exactly, lots say (NOT me, by the way!) that he's the voice of the ordinary person too.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 28/09/2018 12:02

Yes, only men can become transwomen. When they've transitioned, they're women. Not biologically, granted, but they are transwomen. Women. To keep discriminating against and denying that/their existence is transphobic.

But they don't need to "transition". They just need to say "I am a woman" and we're supposed to roll over and accept that this very male-bodied person with intact penis is a woman. Because to say otherwise is transphobic.

Maryann1975 · 28/09/2018 12:03

My dh couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about until this week. The email from the guides that we received and then watching that interview on this morning, He’s finally come round to my way of thinking. I think he thought it was me making a mountain out of a molehill, he didn’t see how serious this could get. It isn’t being discussed enough and it seems the tv presenters don’t want to be labelled as transphobic so are being really careful about what they say and how they lead the interviews.

I have absolutely no problem with any man who wants to dress and act like a woman, but they should not be able to access women only areas and women should have the choice (without any judgement) to know that the person going to do their medical exam/sleep near them in a tent/live with them in the women’s refuge is someone without a penis and if that’s not the case, they should be able to request that be the case without fear that they will be judged or labelled as transphobic.
