To think that if your thread is about a feminist issue you should post on the feminist board

Just that really. Too many feminist board type threads disguised as AIBUs, but really wanting to bash trans or whoever they feel like hating on right now.

Let’s just all be who we are and lead a happy life.

If you don't support trans rights you're not a feminist. It's as simple as that.

If you support trans rights you're not a feminist. It's as simple as that. I may have fixed that for you Smile

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/09/2018 15:32

Oh! I see I erroneously applied the benefit of doubt Sad

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/09/2018 15:32

MNers! I have a question:

Do I report use of a banned word... or is that only on FWR boards?

WomanAKAAdultHumanFemale · 27/09/2018 15:33

If you don't support trans rights you're not a feminist

Ah, yes. The World According to Adrian Harrop. A man who tells women adult human females that defining themselves as women is transphobic and that he is the sole decider of whether or not said adult human females are actually feminist. (Clue: if he disagrees with you are not a feminist.)

Datun · 27/09/2018 15:33

Otherwise, you're a TERF

Mumsnet have banned that word, as it's a slur. Generally followed by die in a fire, or get raped.

WomanAKAAdultHumanFemale · 27/09/2018 15:34

No. As long as you are not calling someone a TERF, you are ok. My old username was TerfsUp and it gave MN no pause at all.

Datun · 27/09/2018 15:36

I don't report for use of terms. As far as I'm concerned nothing should be banned so that oxygen flows through the debate.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/09/2018 15:37

You are probably right, AKA!

Interesting that it has cropped up here, again, out of nowhere!

Datun · 27/09/2018 15:37

I couldn't tell if lilyheather1 was being sarcastic or not, and don't want them to fall into the trap of using banned lingo.

funinthesun18 · 27/09/2018 15:38

Yeah I’d love to not have to see hateful comments towards little boys. If there is a space where all that can be stuck then that’s good enough for me.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/09/2018 15:38

Datun I think I have read you saying that before.. which is why I paused! I think you are right, let it all stand!

Datun · 27/09/2018 15:39

I've never seen a comment that is hateful towards little boys on feminism.

Grin

But nice appeal to emotional blackmail.

Strewth this is basic.

funinthesun18 · 27/09/2018 15:41

Datun Yeah that’s because it’s all stuck on here instead. It belongs on the feminist boards because it could only be a feminist who would call a little boy a future rapist just because he’s in the ladies toilet with his mum.

@lilyheather1 So if we do not want to fight for more rights to male bodied persons we are not feminists? I think you need a dictionary. The word "feminist" does not mean, what you think it means.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 27/09/2018 15:45

I've literally never, ever seen that posted on the Feminist boards, or anywhere else on Mumsnet, @funinthesun18. Would you mind sharing which thread you saw it on?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/09/2018 15:47

Really funin ? Show us where and we can all report it and have it removed! Unless of course, if it did exist, it has already been reported and zapped!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 27/09/2018 15:48

IT WASN'T ME! I DIDN'T REPORT IT!

That one. Not me!

BertrandRussell · 27/09/2018 15:50

"Yeah I’d love to not have to see hateful comments towards little boys."
Where have you seen hateful comments towards little boys?

Datun · 27/09/2018 15:52

Yeah that’s because it’s all stuck on here instead. It belongs on the feminist boards because it could only be a feminist who would call a little boy a future rapist just because he’s in the ladies toilet with his mum.

Don't be silly. Enough of the dramatics.

There is a girl raped in school every day. 60% of girls have either been sexually assaulted or sexually harassed.

25% of girls refuse to even speak in class so they are not targeted afterwards.

It's thought that online pornography which degrades and demeans women, and is available at the touch of a button, is largely to blame.

It's awful that we even have these statistics. It's awful even have to collate them.

But pretending they don't exist and therefore safeguarding is unnecessary, is wrong. And no amount of hyperbole about boys with their mums makes it right.

ADastardlyThing · 27/09/2018 15:56

"If you don't support trans rights you're not a feminist. It's as simple as that."

I fully support rights for trans identified people. And have the utmost sympathy, I've said many times it must be hard, wanting to be something you can never be.

BertrandRussell · 27/09/2018 15:56

Oh yes atheist conversation that goes
"Girls sometimes. feel very uncomfortable changing in front of boys over a certain age, so then boys should change in the men's changing room"
"WHY ARE SAYING THAT 8 YEAR OLD BOYS ARE SEXUAL PREDATORS!!!!"

Datun · 27/09/2018 16:01

The NSPCC recommends sex segregation from age 8 (or is it 10, I can't remember).

They picked an age that made the most sense, statistically.

I'm sure they don't think that all boys are rapists.
