to think this woman could have let me go ahead

I went to the ATM this morning. There was a woman standing in front of it rummaging in her bag for her purse, while I stood behind waiting. She then proceeded to do several different transactions, putting in and out different cards while I stood there and a queue built up.

AIBU to think she could have let me go ahead? I would have had my money withdrawn by the time she found her purse, instead I was standing there for ages between the whole faff.

Yes I do have other things to worry about, but this just struck me as a bit self absorbed.

OP posts:

Entitled much?! For all she knew you could have faffed with multiple transactions.

Wait your turn or find a different cash point

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/09/2018 11:42

How long was she looking for her purse? 10 seconds tops? The fact she had to make a few transactions is by the by!

AGHHHH · 27/09/2018 11:43

YABU

Haahhpy · 27/09/2018 11:44

You deserved priority why? Should she have let everyone in the queue go before her or just you? If ems he stood aside every time someone new arrived to use the machine she'd never get her jobs done.

Satsumaeater · 27/09/2018 11:44

YANBU. Isn't it just the same as allowing someone who only wants to buy one thing go in front of you if you have a big trolley load?

Elementtree · 27/09/2018 11:44

What? No. Just wait your turn.

MorrisZapp · 27/09/2018 11:45

I don't think she should have let you go first but the rummage rummage now let's organise a mortgage people are the absolute worst.

MadameButterface · 27/09/2018 11:45

this is just how people are though

humans are generally irritating shits inconveniencing each other

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/09/2018 11:45

Satsuma how could that woman know the OP was only making one transaction? Totally different to letting someone with one item go in front of you.

MadameButterface · 27/09/2018 11:46

"rummage rummage now let's organise a mortgage"

Grin Grin Grin

Satsumaeater · 27/09/2018 11:46

This is going to be a split between the faffers and non-faffers again like the persistent lateness one was.

The faffers think it's fine to faff and hold everyone up while they do.

The non-faffers think if you're going to faff why not let me go first, I'll be done and gone and you can carry on faffing without me.

Neither side will agree with each other.

FilledSoda · 27/09/2018 11:47

It's not like being in a supermarket, where one person has a trolley full and the other has a loaf.
It was her turn , she didn't know how long you would be and who talks to anyone in an atm queue anyway?
I'm usually concentrating on not getting robbed.
Wait your turn.

PinkHeart5914 · 27/09/2018 11:47

See I think she should of let you go in front, who stands there trying to find the purse while the queue builds?

I bet she’s one of the people that do that thing in supermarkets at the till or finding the bank card and taking forever, becuase it’s a shock you need the cards to pay for shopping....

HolesinTheSoles · 27/09/2018 11:47

Not a big deal but obviously YANBU. If you're faffing in your purse you ask the next person if they'd like to go ahead. If someone asks you to go ahead and you know you're going to be doing multiple transactions you thank them but say "no I might take a while". All common curtesy.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 27/09/2018 11:47

How is looking for a purse in your bag faffing?

How long do you think it actually takes?

Satsumaeater · 27/09/2018 11:47

Satsuma how could that woman know the OP was only making one transaction? Totally different to letting someone with one item go in front of you

Not really. I've very rarely seen anyone do more than one thing at a cashpoint. Chances are, you'll get your cash and go (maybe get a balance first but not use different cards for different things).

SerenDippitty · 27/09/2018 11:47

YANBU. Isn't it just the same as allowing someone who only wants to buy one thing go in front of you if you have a big trolley load?

No it isn’t. You can see the person only wants to buy one thing, the woman at the cash point didn’t know the OP only wanted cash - though I suppose she could have said “I’m going to be a while - would you like to go before me if you only want cash?” but generally it’s first come first served with these things.

GruciusMalfoy · 27/09/2018 11:48

I'm a non-faffer, and have my card ready for the atm. But I think YABU.

Bluelady · 27/09/2018 11:49

I'm not a faffer, they irritate the hell out of me but I do a accept that the world doesn't revolve around me.

Geraldine170 · 27/09/2018 11:54

You wouldn’t have been unreasonable to have been mildly annoyed by it at the time. But being annoyed enough about it to actually sit down and post about it YABU. Not least because any time you would have saved if she’d let you in front you’ve just wasted by writing that post!

BobLemon · 27/09/2018 11:57

... I'm sure this has been posted before. Almost word for word.

Missingstreetlife · 27/09/2018 11:58

Yes I think you should not be at the ATM until you have your card in your hand. Find it while in the q, or step aside till you do

Missingstreetlife · 27/09/2018 11:58

And on the bus!

Zoflorabore · 27/09/2018 11:59

And this has bothered you enough to make a post on here? You must have a very borinf life Hmm

Zoflorabore · 27/09/2018 11:59

Or even boring
