To think adults singing this at conference, sound childish and idiotic?

jcyclops · 27/09/2018 02:12

Oy vey, Jeremy Corbyn!

gamerwidow · 27/09/2018 08:13

I notice my earlier post was deleted can I just caveat that it’s because I quoted Snogs horrible post to repudiate it not because I being anti Semitic. I would hate someone to look back on this thread and think I had said something awful.

notaflyingmonkey · 27/09/2018 08:48

I think it's important to denounce anyone who condemns the continued oppression of the Palestinians at the hand of the state of Israel as anti semitic. Otherwise we'll find ourselves in the position of having a prime minister who recognises the state of Palestine, and we can't have that, can we.

Whizbang · 27/09/2018 08:55

I don’t mind when it’s sung at labour conference, but this chant is hugely annoying when it is shouted at non political events. Amusing anecdote...I was at the Cure gig in Hyde Park this summer when a group in the audience took up this chant. A larger group of spectators turned around and told them to stfu and that we were there for the music not their student politics. The astonishment on the faces of the chanters was a picture and they did indeed stfu Grin

raisedbyguineapigs · 27/09/2018 09:01

mydarling maybe Labour should be listening to their millions of voters and former voters then instead of their 500,000 new members.

longwayoff · 27/09/2018 09:35

O I do enjoy a mature discussion about current affairs. Will let you all know if I find one.

Whizbang · 27/09/2018 09:39

Off you pop and start your own thread then longwayoff.

RhythmStix · 27/09/2018 09:46

What a loony thread. Full of mad zealots who give their people and political party a bad name. Barking.

Basecamp65 · 27/09/2018 09:55

I went to 7 festivals this summer and heard this being sung at all of them - mainly by 16 - 25 year olds.

Whatever you may think about his policies and what he stands for, he has engaged this demographic in politics like no one else has managed for decades.

The biggest failing of all politicians from all parties over the last 50 years has been their complete lack of addressing the continuing fall in voting.

For this he should be applauded by everyone - even if you would never vote for him yourself.

raisedbyguineapigs · 27/09/2018 10:00

It's serious because if you want people to vote for you and listen to what you are saying, sounding idiotic is not a good plan. One of the speakers earlier on in the week had to tell the crowd not to boo their own delegates because it sounded awful on TV. If your narrative is all about how the Tory press are all against you then how can you get your message across sounding like juvenile idiots?

Whizbang · 27/09/2018 10:10

Hmm Basecamp65, that’s interesting. I noticed it a lot last summer at gigs and festivals, but only heard it on one occasion this summer, and it went down v badly with other attendees as I described above. This gave me the impression that Corbyn mania reached its height last summer...the chant is certainly not well received by most attendees at non political events this year.

Whizbang · 27/09/2018 10:13

Ps I should add that the Hyde Park incident I described was at the height of the anti-semitransparent scandal, which probably also printed the audience to push back against the chanters. Go Cure fans, they were NOT putting up with that hypocritical BS!

Whizbang · 27/09/2018 10:14

Anti-Semitism scandal!

Although to be fair the anti-semitransparent scandal was also a shocker and I’m writing to my MP.

blurredspeech · 27/09/2018 10:19

If I was Jewish, I'd seriously be thinking about packing my backs. Corbyn seems completely obsessed with Jews and Israel rather than focusing on what most people are actually worried about - the economy, housing, jobs etc.

Growingboys · 27/09/2018 10:23

Nothing about Jeremy Corbyn is funny. He is awful.

5Yearplan4000 · 27/09/2018 10:24

The whole Jeremy Corbyn love is just a more drawn our version of “The Cleggasm” in 2010. “I agree with Nick” they chanted. Tosspots. The Jeremy love in will also evaporate like snow in the sunshine when it meets reality and will inevitably collapse under the weight of its own contradictions.

Growingboys · 27/09/2018 10:24

No way should Jewish people pack their bags. This is their country. How dare Corbyn make them leave?

The rise of anti-semitism and the left's failure to do anything about it is shocking and must be stood up to.

5Yearplan4000 · 27/09/2018 10:24

Drawn out

WomanAKAAdultHumanFemale · 27/09/2018 10:30

What? Magic Granddad was leading a singalong? If so, at least he was leading something...

RhythmStix · 27/09/2018 10:39

"No way should Jewish people pack their bags. This is their country. How dare Corbyn make them leave?"

What a lot of histrionic exaggerated bile. No single race or religion OWNS the country and no one is being 'made' to leave. What stupid shite this thread is.

Whizbang · 27/09/2018 10:44

Careful now Rhythm, you’re letting your bullying mask slip at bit there, whatever would the dear leader say? We’ll continue our discussion despite your attempts to shut us up, thanks all the same.

shinycat · 27/09/2018 11:03

You are right @abacucat if this was Theresa May, she would have been slaughtered. The woman cannot do anything right.

Corbyn however - in the eyes of some - cannot do a THING wrong. 🙄

I have to agree with you though. It was mind-numbingly cringeworthy. Blush

Clandestino · 27/09/2018 11:49

Cult of personality. But considering how left the Labour is and where the Momentum is pulling it, not surprising they are embracing habits any North Korean would be proud of.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/09/2018 11:59

Good luck to the JLM, trying to carry out the anti semitism training with all those waving the Palestinian flag around

Oh wait ... they had to cancel it, didn't they? Hmm

SillySallySingsSongs · 27/09/2018 12:05

What a lot of histrionic exaggerated bile. No single race or religion OWNS the country and no one is being 'made' to leave.

Great so you are telling Jewish people how to think now. Wonderful.

What stupid shite this thread is

No one firc3d you to read or post on it.
