To admire Theresa May

As a woman. I don't agree with her policies and brexit strategies but I do think she is an amazingly strong and powerful figure, with the confidence to stick to her beliefs, even in the face of such negativity! That takes guts!
Watching her in Brussels surrounded by a crowd of important men, I did think good on her for standing up to them. Anyone agree?
She gets a lot of negative press and i never hear of her being shown as a role model for women.

If all mps had accepted the vote as many still don't... She wouldn't have had to keep saying brexit means brexit Confused

StellaWouldYouTakeMeHome · 22/09/2018 16:48

You are being totally unreasonable. She’s a heartless witch. Nothing to admire there. It’s all just a shit show

PierreBezukov · 22/09/2018 17:04

She is being bullied by the Eurocrats - Donald Tusk's tweet was petty, immature and designed to humiliate her. Feel sorry for her - but she does have sticking power.

youlethergo · 22/09/2018 17:15

I think we can be pretty sure that if we don't support her, Boris will get the job.

I disagree with this, actually. Boris doesn't have the support within his own party.

I notice the DM are lining Amber Rudd up today.

Thomasinaa · 22/09/2018 17:17

The UK are causing big problems for the EU and have been abusing the EU for years, and UK politicians are now trying to blame the EU for the disaster that UK politicians are imposing on us. You are being taken in. Welcome to Fascism

Juells · 22/09/2018 17:24

You are being taken in.

You're wasting your breath, it will always be the EU's fault.

DemocracyDiesInDarkness · 22/09/2018 18:33

Bullied? Fuck that. She is the leader of a nation! She should be capable of robust negotiations without crying 'bully'!

She may as well have started crying and pointing 'you mean boys!' Hmm

Do you not see how fucking embarrassing she is? What we look like on the world stage is just absolutely shameful.

youlethergo · 22/09/2018 19:06

It would be character building for TM to be treated the way she treated Corbyn during the election campaign. She would realise what disrespect feels like then.

Housingcraze · 22/09/2018 19:23

Did Ireland have second referendum then?? To remain in EU?? Didn’t know that!!

PositiveVibez · 22/09/2018 19:36

with the confidence to stick to her beliefs

So when May won't bend, she is strong and stable confident.

When Corbyn stands by his beliefs he is stubborn and pig-headed.

lemonadefloat · 22/09/2018 20:02

democracy in the case of David Davies and Boris I feel they were instrumental in creating this problem and then rather than step up and accept responsibility they were happy to let TM do it while heckling at her from the sidelines, thereby still avoiding blame and instead blaming it on the woman who has at least stepped up and tried to get on with sorting out the mess.

lemonadefloat · 22/09/2018 20:03

Corbyn has been sodding useless. NOBODY is representing remainers, ie half the population probably more than that now

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/09/2018 20:05

Taking of Corbyn where is he? He has been very quiet of late Hmm

IAmLurkacus · 22/09/2018 20:12

David DAVIS is the Brexit twat. David DAVIES is a good bloke.

FermatsTheorem · 22/09/2018 20:14

Though in fairness David Davies is also pro-Brexit, albeit still not to be confused with David Davis.

lemonadefloat · 22/09/2018 20:14

Apologies! it was the Brexit causing idiot I was talking about. To me the epitome of every entitled middle aged male mansplaining in the workplace that I have ever had the misfortune to encounter.

lemonadefloat · 22/09/2018 20:16

DAVIS. David Davis =the Brexit twat so we're all clear. As for Corbyn's silence? Well that will no doubt be the fault of the media Wink

BonnieF · 22/09/2018 20:16

May is doing an incredibly difficult and thankless job. Dave screwed up disastrously by calling and then losing the referendum before buggering off and leaving someone else to clear up the almighty mess.

A couple of things to remember about her : she voted Remain, and in 6 years at the home office she made a reputation for dogged persistence and seeing a job through, eg she got through a legal minefield to deport Abu Hamza.

She may yet manage to salvage something from this mess.

noblegiraffe · 22/09/2018 20:19

David Davies is the homophobe who opposed gay marriage and who doesn’t believe in man-made climate change.

IAmLurkacus · 22/09/2018 20:20

I don’t think half of them know if they’re leave or remain these days, no wonder I can’t keep up! Grin

Where is Dave these days? What’s he up to?

TheDowagerCuntess · 22/09/2018 20:23

I think she has got the worst job in the world.

I'm no Tory, and I strongly support Remain, but she's carrying out the so-called will of the people.

Cameron scarpered minutes after the result of a referendum he instigated.

None of the Brexiteer numpties (Johnson, Gove, Rees-Mogg, et al) are either up to the job, nor seem to even want it. They just want to snipe and complain from the back seat - much, much easier than actually leading, or coming up with their own ideas or strategies.

What is May supposed to do?

The people voted to Brexit - in spite of their being NO PLAN (not even a whiff of one - the Brexiteers' campaign seemingly didn't actually extend to that) - so now she has to lead Brexit. Which the EU were never going to let happen easily.

Again - no other fucker is up to, or interested, in leading Brexit. Let alone the actual Brexiteers.

What is she supposed to do?

It's a total cluster fuck, entirely the making of those who campaigned to Brexit, and those who voted for it.

BonnieF · 22/09/2018 20:23

Dave is writing his memoirs, apparently. The working title is ‘How I screwed up my country’s future’.

TheDowagerCuntess · 22/09/2018 20:24

*there

TheDowagerCuntess · 22/09/2018 20:27

I honestly can't get my head around the idea that people are mad at May - Remainer - for not sorting the Brexiteers' shit out for them.

It's boggling. Confused

fredleighton · 22/09/2018 20:27

I think she has the worst job in the world at the moment and I admire her tenacity at sticking with it and seeing it through. Unlike Call Me Dave who panicked and ran off. I find it utterly abhorrent that having called the Referendum with no structure around it that he was able to just piss off with no consequences. It's disgraceful and he should be called to account.
