As a woman. I don't agree with her policies and brexit strategies but I do think she is an amazingly strong and powerful figure, with the confidence to stick to her beliefs, even in the face of such negativity! That takes guts!
Watching her in Brussels surrounded by a crowd of important men, I did think good on her for standing up to them. Anyone agree?
She gets a lot of negative press and i never hear of her being shown as a role model for women.

I can only conclude that anyone who likes her doesn't know anything about politics and is taken in by her shiny necklace.

Juells · 22/09/2018 13:59

Donald Tusk's people and the rest of the EU leadership were also furious over the cake tweet - they did not have an agenda to offend and this was a misguided joke on one person's part that ended up offended everyone.

I really doubt that. In hindsight they may have realised that it went down like a lead balloon, but the whole 'cake' and 'cherry' business originated with Boris. Why is it OK for British politicians to say those things, but dreadful offence taken when someone else says it?

borntobequiet · 22/09/2018 14:00

She was a dreadful Home Secretary and as Prime Minister her only virtue is that she isn’t Boris Johnson.

Theworldisfullofgs · 22/09/2018 14:01

She in no role model for young women.
She is not brave. She is a process driven technical manager. She is not a leader. If she was a leader we'd be having different conversations as a country.
She does not know how to manage her emotions (you can see them all brimming under the surface) and has little to no self awareness.

By the way, I'm no Corbyn fan either.

BastardGoDarkly · 22/09/2018 14:02

At least we'll leave with dignity

Seriously, that's the funniest comment yet, and that's really saying something reading this thread.

Sorry, did I say funniest? I meant most depressing.

youlethergo · 22/09/2018 14:02

Juells It isn't the tone they usually go for and they have taken care in the past not to send May home looking humiliated. It's credible to me that this is not the message they want to send.

Juells · 22/09/2018 14:04

I think they've just lost patience, having tried to prop her up and support her for so long.

MissEliza · 22/09/2018 14:06

Is taken in by her shiny necklace. No I was taken in by the concrete support she gave to someone I admire greatly who was having a very hard time. I didn't know much about her before that and thought she seemed stiff and frosty. I was very impressed with how she spoke on my friend's behalf.

HeyNumber2 · 22/09/2018 14:09

Oh god, I had a dream last night that she resigned as PM, we were watching her on TV and I remarked to my DH how happy she looked now she’s out of office.

Thanks for reminding me how boring my dreams are!

Would prefer Anna Soubty or Emma Thornberry.

lemonadefloat · 22/09/2018 14:28

What it ultra depressing is that if she goes the likelihood is the choice will be Rees-Mogg, Boris or Jeremy Corbyn.
The prospect of one of those three at the helm is the only thing seeming worse than the current shit show. Terrifying in fact.

PolytheneSam · 22/09/2018 14:31

She's stuck but nobody forced her to become Prime Minister after Cameron reneged on his responsibilities.

She has to chose between between an economic catastrophe or ignoring a referendum.

If she compromises she'll be blamed by almost everyone which is what is happening now.

Finally the #brexit men behind her are like backseat drivers who keep screaming about where they don't want to go but never produce a roadmap for where they want to go.

I think we can be pretty sure that if we don't support her, Boris will get the job. So instead of calling her vulgar names and be generally unpleasant we are MN should probably get behind her. She is the best chance we have.

lemonadefloat · 22/09/2018 14:36

Completely agree. Easy to stand on the sidelines criticising yet doing f all.

Sugarformyhoney · 22/09/2018 14:47

Yabu. She’s a cunt.

Juells · 22/09/2018 14:49

I'm a frequent user of the word cunt, but I draw the line at directing it against women in public life.

IAmLurkacus · 22/09/2018 14:56

YANBU OP. I don’t see anyone else stepping up to do the job.

The current situation is an absolute shit show and the alternatives are even worse Sad

Autumnwindy · 22/09/2018 14:58

I think we should all be clamouring for a special cross party brexit cabinet.
They should all be working together to get us through.
Labour mp along side tory.

Ta1kinpeace · 22/09/2018 15:06

Corbyn and McDonnell both want a hard Brexit as much as Rees Mogg does

Corbyn does not tolerate dissent from his MPs, despite having voted against his own party hundreds of times

the Lib Dems had their annual conference in a broom cupboard
FPTP does not allow for third parties to take control

DemocracyDiesInDarkness · 22/09/2018 15:14

So @lemonadefloat we can only criticise the people who work for us if we've walked in their shoes? That would be a strange democracy Confused

MetalMickey22 · 22/09/2018 15:40

Yabu, she's a disaster!

Autumnwindy · 22/09/2018 15:47

Snowy, mn is a small insignificant forum. We are just chewing the fat... We will not keep tm in a job 😂😂.

PlinkPlink · 22/09/2018 15:47

@Autumnwindy

I'd love this too... it'll never happen though.

Autumnwindy · 22/09/2018 16:12

Plink Frank field suggested it ages ago.
Unfortunately he has excellent values and ideas but he isn't strident enough to get his voice heard esp with momentum drowning everyone out

maxthemartian · 22/09/2018 16:15

She's spent two years cocking about shouting "Brexit means Brexit" and other such platitudes and now we have a looming disaster.
