To wonder why so many people have joined this so called "hinch army"

My facebook seems to have been taken over by these people from my school days. I had no clue what it all was until I saw someone tag a women called mrs hinch on instagram and from what I can tell its just a woman who doesn't work who is massively obsessed with cleaning her house, calls her dusters and sponges by actual names and talks too much throwing in a a "maaaaatteee". every now and then. (which is really irritating)

These people actually watch her clean her home and then refer to themselves as the hinch army.

Just wondered if I am I missing something here or is this a ridiculous amount of effort from her to film herself cleaning every surface in her home, and a massive waste of time for those who tune in daily to see what she's cleaning today, then rush out and buy the same products, just clean your own homes instead of watching this woman do hers.

If I clean my house Ill say I cleaned my house. These people say they've just hinched their homes Hmm

YeTalkShiteHen (love your username!)

What a horrible and inappropriate thing for that nurse to say. Glad to hear that things have settled for you. People's throwaway comments - especially if they are in a position of authority - can have a lasting and negative impact.

YeTalkShiteHen · 22/09/2018 12:32

ResistanceIsNecessary thank you I appreciate your kind words. She was very young, and I’ve put it down to that. I hope that she’s changed the way she speaks to terrified parents (at that point I didn’t know if DS1 would survive the night, he was 15 weeks old).

It was a lesson to me too. To try and be careful about the way I phrase things.

I’m just glad DS1 is ok, that’s the most important thing to take away from all of it.

No different to "Kondoing" or The Game? People like to belong to a club.

GingerFrogs · 22/09/2018 12:44

She's currently in hosp. Hope it's not a lung problem from all those chemicals mixed into soup

I agree, people talk about how they're Kondo'ing instead of decluttering, it's only the same thing really?

Nice, gingerfrogs. Nice. Hmm
Yes, she's apparently in hospital so bit nasty to throw speculating bitchy comments in there. Hope she feels better soon whatever it is.

I've just started following TOMM, I've bought a couple of the recommended products, but some of the followers are going crazy buying things like Method products by the ton when they are on offer. I only got the glass cleaner & the floor spray, other than that I use washing up liquid, bleach spray, ordinary bleach & stardrops plus washing powder for my laundry, buying hundreds of products causes another problem, where to keep them all. If you have young children, they all need to be kept somewhere safe where they can't reach them.

PoisonousSmurf · 22/09/2018 13:10

Too many chemicals being sprayed about! What's wrong with good old water and elbow grease?

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 22/09/2018 13:27

You know there’s a product called elbow grease? Grin it’s actually a brilliant product.

Ollivander84 · 22/09/2018 13:32

Yeah I only buy stuff by the load when it's heavily reduced
Like Morrisons reducing Oreo thins to 9p. Rude not to Grin
If method was down to say 75p, I would stock up. Have actually ordered some eco friendly floor cleaner, general purpose cleaner and washing up liquid and you can pick your scent too

ResistanceIsNecessary · 22/09/2018 14:08

I bulk buy Method when it's on offer - but only the products I usually use, as my house is on a septic tank (so I can't use bleach etc.). There's no value in buying 3848455 products just because they are cheap if you don't need them!

I like the lemon and ginger multi-surface cleaner concentrate - I have an old plastic bottle and dilute it down and use as a surface spray. The handwash is also lovely and I use the loo cleaner as well.

I’m glad I didn’t know they did that, I’d be rolling out of the door Grin

YeTalkShiteHen · 22/09/2018 14:23

Method stuff is really good. I like the stainless steel cleaner.

Ollivander84 · 22/09/2018 14:39

Ye Grin I was in at the right time. Nature valley bars down to 20p a pack, a 3 pack of hobnobs/digestives/rich tea for 15p, and the thins. Long dates on them too so I stocked up!

YeTalkShiteHen · 22/09/2018 15:02

Ollivander oh I’m definitely glad I didn’t see that then, I really would have rolled out of the door Grin I love the Oreo thins especially, they’re so moreish!

Haworthia · 22/09/2018 20:44

I’ve been following for the last week and I had no idea how aspirational it would be to watch someone clean their sink! Maybe I have very low standards Grin

It’s all coincided with my youngest child starting preschool, so for the first time in years I have uninterrupted time to clean and tidy. I have to say, it makes a massive difference to me. I feel so much lighter. It’s amazing how “burdened” dust and clutter can make you feel. So, long may it continue.

I'm missing it too. Just searched her this morning to see what the fuss is all about. Can't see it myself. She's cleaning clean surfaces. She uses too many products. Does she really have nothing better to do? The pics of her house are the same rehashed pics at different angles and her house doesn't look like its lived in. It's also practically mono-grey. Boring as fuck. Very chavvy-chic imo.

LaLoba · 23/10/2018 12:50

find it a sad that there’s flocks of women proving their worth by how well and intensely they can clean. That’s with ‘well’ morphing into obsessively and ‘intensely’ mean multiple products.

Me too. There’s a young woman I know who is now constantly posting on FB about spraying fabric softener around and her new found obsession with cleaning. I find it kind of regressive and a bit tragic.
I like my home clean, and with multiple pets I possibly clean more often than many. But it’s a necessary chore, to be done as quickly as possible, glorifying it as glamorous just weirds me out.
