To wonder why so many people have joined this so called "hinch army"

My facebook seems to have been taken over by these people from my school days. I had no clue what it all was until I saw someone tag a women called mrs hinch on instagram and from what I can tell its just a woman who doesn't work who is massively obsessed with cleaning her house, calls her dusters and sponges by actual names and talks too much throwing in a a "maaaaatteee". every now and then. (which is really irritating)

These people actually watch her clean her home and then refer to themselves as the hinch army.

Just wondered if I am I missing something here or is this a ridiculous amount of effort from her to film herself cleaning every surface in her home, and a massive waste of time for those who tune in daily to see what she's cleaning today, then rush out and buy the same products, just clean your own homes instead of watching this woman do hers.

If I clean my house Ill say I cleaned my house. These people say they've just hinched their homes Hmm

wait wait wait wait what! 2 types of bleach!

Maybe this is why she actually exists though as a thing on social media! I didnt even realise that bleach in washes was a thing!?!

(Just a FYI I am not gonna start worrying about bleaching my clothes, me and DS have terribly sensitive skin that even looking at bleach or anything too chemically sends us up in hives)

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 21/09/2018 15:56

A friend of mine posted this week a load of cleaning products across her kitchen worktop with the following #hincharmy #whenyouknowyouknow #zoflorafordays

So I killed her.

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 16:01

Nobody's making out she's doing some public service. Hmm
Was just saying to those saying "it's hardly hard" well it must be a nice position to be in to be so dismissive.
If she's helping some, that's a good thing.

Skyejuly · 21/09/2018 16:02

If people follow her then I guess they can use the internet which means google if they didnt know how to clean a toilet for example. I dont think she has taught anything, apart from how to buy out all the Minky and Zofloras.

dillydally446 · 21/09/2018 16:04

@rainbowsandsmiles is it your actual job to defend Mrs Hinch on internet posts and social media? Surely you've got better things to do?

TwittleBee · 21/09/2018 16:05

But Skye surely that would the case for everything on social media? Like why do people follow fitness people, or chefs or artists etc?

I dont get Mrs Hinch's ways but I do appreciate the general motivations of similar accounts or other hobbies. I love following BBC Good Food on insta for motivation and inspiration, yet I could just Google them?

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 16:08

Don't you see any irony in your post saying haven't you got anything better to do when you're joining in MN during the day laughing at people for cleaning?

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 16:08

Nobody's making out she's doing some public service.

Must be nice for those saying why do people need to be told how to clean, don't they just do it?
It's not always as easy as that.

Make your mind up Confused

Thesearmsofmine · 21/09/2018 16:08

I followed her, thought she was fairly amusing buy have unfollowed now. Genuine cleaning tips would be more useful for me then watching her clean the same already clean sink and toilet again and again.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 16:10

I spend a fair majority of my day cleaning. I enjoy it and it’s something that makes me happy.

It’s possible to do it without being paid or having however many adoring fans hanging on your every word like you’re something amazing.

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 16:16

YetalkShite - that's the whole point! You enjoy it so do it lots. It makes you happy. Some people don't. Enjoy that it is. It's incredibly dull.
Or don't feel up to it mentally. Must be a nice position to be in. Some people need a bit of motivation, going off to Google a few cleaning facts life suggested isn't really going to do that.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 16:25

I thought nobody was saying she’s providing a public service? Confused

You seem to be trying to portray her as some kind of hero to women. That’s ridiculous.

Lollypop27 · 21/09/2018 16:26

I think she has a huge following because she’s down to earth and without this sounding completely rude, something for the working class. All of the other big accounts are middle class white women who have designer clothes, large houses, children in private schools, etc. When they show off a ‘haul’ it’s designer gear. Even fat face and marks and Spencer’s is out of a lot of people’s budgets. Mrs Hinch is doing hauls in home bargains and Poundland. It’s doable in Poundland. Being at home is lonely and housework has to be done. No one ever comments on it though. I feel Mrs Hinch is giving them pride in what they do. Surely that can only be a good thing.

I don’t agree with the mixing of chemicals and hoarding stuff but that’s life. I don’t agree with lots of things that other people do but I get through life just fine.

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 16:28

I'm not saying she's a hero at all, just saying it will be easy for you won't it, as you love cleaning. So to say it's not exactly hard, I was just saying that for some it is.

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 16:34

Yes, agree it helps that the stuff being recommended is easily affordable too. Means you can see a way of making your own home look nice as well instead of thinking you'll never afford that.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 16:35

Maybe it is, but I fail to see how a woman naming cloths and preaching (because that’s exactly what she’s doing) for money and attention is the answer.

Surely she’d make people feel worse since her standards are pretty unattainable for most?

I’ve got 3 kids and a DP who pulls his weight. I spend 4-6 hours a day cleaning and my house isn’t as perfect as hers.

So really, all she is doing is setting people up to fail.

ziggiestardust · 21/09/2018 16:39

I’ve just checked it out (I’d never heard of her!) she’s not really my taste in all honesty. She talks down at you a bit, doesn’t she? I do quite like cleaning videos too.

I like Jessica Tull on YouTube, she’s an American lady and her videos are very positive and motivational and she just seems very down to earth. She’s great to have on when you’re cleaning, go and have a look if you feel Mrs Hinch isn’t your thing.

OkMaybeNot · 21/09/2018 16:39

Person on internet: look at all my stuff, buy lots of things so you have lots of stuff like me
Thousands of women:

To wonder why so many people have joined this so called "hinch army"
rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 16:40

Maybe for some, but for others it makes them feel better because they feel motivated to get on top of of their own house. Including myself in that statement.

Zombae · 21/09/2018 16:41

@Lollypop27 She told everyone on Instagram not to use her trademarks. She isn't trying to remain 'working class.'

ziggiestardust · 21/09/2018 16:41

lollypop I agree with your points. It’s nice to feel motivated.

Lonelynessie · 21/09/2018 16:53

OkMaybeNot 😂 that’s brilliant.

Anyway - it’s definitely not my cup of tea (I’m sick of grey everything and cleaning is something I have to do rather than something I want to do) but live and let live I say. If you don’t like it just unfollow/block/mute and move on.

Skyejuly · 21/09/2018 17:00

I reckon some will look back and wonder why the hell they bought 500 bottles of Zoflora in the Autumn of 2018. Just to make their minky less stinky!

Squirrelblanket · 21/09/2018 17:02

I started following her on Instagram after reading the last thread to see what the fuss is about. I haven't worked it out yet.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 21/09/2018 17:06

yetalk why are you spending so much time cleaning? Shock
