To wonder why so many people have joined this so called "hinch army"

My facebook seems to have been taken over by these people from my school days. I had no clue what it all was until I saw someone tag a women called mrs hinch on instagram and from what I can tell its just a woman who doesn't work who is massively obsessed with cleaning her house, calls her dusters and sponges by actual names and talks too much throwing in a a "maaaaatteee". every now and then. (which is really irritating)

These people actually watch her clean her home and then refer to themselves as the hinch army.

Just wondered if I am I missing something here or is this a ridiculous amount of effort from her to film herself cleaning every surface in her home, and a massive waste of time for those who tune in daily to see what she's cleaning today, then rush out and buy the same products, just clean your own homes instead of watching this woman do hers.

If I clean my house Ill say I cleaned my house. These people say they've just hinched their homes Hmm

OkMaybeNot - seeing as I like to follow Mrs Hinchers stories, this is a thread I like? Thanks though.
Unless you mean you don't want me to post as I'm not joining in with the "right" mindset.
In that case thanks not so much.

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 14:08

Twittlebee, that's how I feel too. Must be nice for those saying why do people need to be told how to clean, don't they just do it?
It's not always as easy as that.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 14:12

Oh don’t start pretending she’s doing some kind of public service.

Fucks sake, she’s doing it for attention and money, she’s not your friend or some kind of benefactor!

It's just tedious for all concerned if you/one dominates a thread by shouting all over it. Especially if you twist what people have actually said to fit your own agenda.

MissMarplesKnitting · 21/09/2018 14:19

Exactly!!
She just shows off her (exceptionally grey) house and wants her fifteen minutes of fame.

What she does is batshit and over the top. And it's all done in with a supercilious, smug "aren't I great, my house is so clean" air. Nope love, when you've chase three kids round, done umpteen bed changes with a sickness bug, and been to work and tried to keep up with the dozen or so kids activities a week..... THEN come show me your house.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 14:24

MissMarplesKnitting haha yes!

When it was just me and DS1 my house was spotless, like a show home.

I do 3 times as much now, and DP does his share. But my house looks hee haw like a showhome!

My cousin was very smug about her all white house until she had twins Grin

Smugness is never called for.

Have your home however you please, just understand it makes you no better or worse than anyone else .

multiplemum3 · 21/09/2018 14:27

It's the phrases that I don't understand, what does "putting the sink to bed" mean?

MissMarplesKnitting · 21/09/2018 14:31

Absolutely. And friends never judge if the house is untidy....and I don't theirs. I'm there to see them, not the house.

I have TOMM'd for a while because for me, it's sustainable. I don't do everything; under the beds is.....interesting. But I have great slow cooker recipes and with the rota the house is presentable most of the time and I'm not spending all weekend catching up.

That, to me is valuable. Not having a perfect but grey, soulless house.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 14:33

MissMarplesKnitting that’s it! My best friend always apologises for “the mess” when I go round, and I tell her every time “I’m here to see you, no the house!”

Some days mine is spotless (usually a Saturday after my dad takes the 3 kids swimming so DP and I can get stuck in) some days it isn’t.

It’s a home, a functioning family home. So it doesn’t have to be perfect all the time.

It’s the judgement of people who don’t have show home types homes that bothers me most.

CaptainCorrigan · 21/09/2018 14:34

It's the phrases that I don't understand, what does "putting the sink to bed" mean?

It's cleaning your sink with about 5 different products, then putting your cloths on the draining rack. Or you can 'give them a bath'- soak in hot water and zoflora overnight.

It's ground-breaking stuff

MissMarplesKnitting · 21/09/2018 14:35

I DGAF, I just want mine to be reasonably clean and tidy, and not to be drowning in laundry. I want to feel in control of it.

MissMarples aye that’s my theory too. If it gets on top of me and out of control I really struggle with it until it’s sorted. But that’s my issue iyswim? I wouldn’t judge someone else.

Can I clarify that my best friend’s house isn’t dirty, I don’t think I got that across. It’s a flat with two boisterous kids in it and she is not as uptight as me. I envy her laid back ness!

MissMarplesKnitting · 21/09/2018 14:37

Or you can just use old fashioned cotton dishcloths and WASH them. Clean one daily. Dirty cloths and tea towels into hot wash basket.... honestly, why do people make it so hard?!!

Zombae · 21/09/2018 14:41

@YeTalkShiteHen Fucks sake, she’s doing it for attention and money, she’s not your friend or some kind of benefactor!

It's all self-centred. It's about attention and money. That's why she trademarked her own name.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 14:50

Zombae did she? Neatly proves the point doesn’t it?

Instagram influencers are really damaging. Not just this one, but all of them.

Narcissistic, arrogant, selfish and self satisfied.

Why these are character traits being aspired to and praised is beyond me!

MissMarplesKnitting · 21/09/2018 14:51

Agreed!

CaptainCorrigan · 21/09/2018 14:56

She has also managed to trademark any hinch related hashtags I believe

CoffeeShortbread · 21/09/2018 14:58

Ok, ok, ok. I’ve just watched one of her pinned stories where she talks through her must haves.

Laundry - two types of stain remover and bleach every wash?
‘Daily basket’ (stuff she uses daily) - 1001 carpet freshener spray? Cleans the loo daily but then puts fragrances powder down it? WHY? Surely it is clean so it’ll smell nice without the extra stuff?

Tumble drier sheets in all of her cushions? Bags of fragranced laundry freshener balls hung randomly in her house? All these synthetic fragrances are posing a health risk, has she not heard about evidence surrounding endocrine disruptors and respiratory issues from exposure to high levels of synthetic fragrance?

CoffeeShortbread · 21/09/2018 15:00

Even if you don’t give a flying fart about the environment with all the plastic waste and chemicals going into the waterways, surely you’d have some concern about your own health and that of those you share a home with?

Cheeseplantandpickle · 21/09/2018 15:08

It's so grey, I'm almost impressed.

kissprudencekeith · 21/09/2018 15:10

Just going to leave this here...

To wonder why so many people have joined this so called "hinch army"
YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 15:16

Laundry - two types of stain remover and bleach every wash?

Every wash?

I use a ridiculous amount of stain remover on my kids’ school shirts, but normal washing stuff (biological anyway) is usually enough for the rest. Now and again I have to use stain remover, but not every wash. Wouldn’t that fuck your clothes up?

CoffeeShortbread · 21/09/2018 15:24

If you believe the pinned video, yes. She says she uses the same products every time she does a wash. Two types of bleach (one is that ACE coloursafe bleach, the other is an oxygen bleach product), plus two types of highly fragranced freshener products as well as the actual laundry soap. The poor rinse cycle is earning its keep in that household!

buddahbelly · 21/09/2018 15:52

I cant for the life of me imagine why my post got deleted? I only said I thought she used too many chemicals and her shower was covered in zoflora Hmm

Unless I uncovered the truth and there was a certain Mrs Hinch on here who reported me for not loving her work Grin Grin Grin
