To wonder why so many people have joined this so called "hinch army"

My facebook seems to have been taken over by these people from my school days. I had no clue what it all was until I saw someone tag a women called mrs hinch on instagram and from what I can tell its just a woman who doesn't work who is massively obsessed with cleaning her house, calls her dusters and sponges by actual names and talks too much throwing in a a "maaaaatteee". every now and then. (which is really irritating)

These people actually watch her clean her home and then refer to themselves as the hinch army.

Just wondered if I am I missing something here or is this a ridiculous amount of effort from her to film herself cleaning every surface in her home, and a massive waste of time for those who tune in daily to see what she's cleaning today, then rush out and buy the same products, just clean your own homes instead of watching this woman do hers.

If I clean my house Ill say I cleaned my house. These people say they've just hinched their homes Hmm

PSA - public service announcement

It's not what she calls it, just what I called it. She's hot on chemical safety and she posts about it fairly regularly. MrsHinch, if I remember correctly, posted something about trusting her followers to read labels themselves so she won't bother mentioning it, or something. And then she mixes chemicals in her videos Hmm

teaandtoast · 21/09/2018 12:06

Oh! Ok thanks.

lifechangesforever · 21/09/2018 12:09

For the record, she does work.. she's a hairdresser.

Zombae · 21/09/2018 12:23

Her 'soldiers' have been sniffing too much of their home made Zoflora-Sodium-Hydroxide-Bicarbonate-Hydrochloric-Acid-Cillit-Bang mix.

VeryBerrySeptember · 21/09/2018 12:27

Don't mix cleaners is all I will echo from this!

Oh and use bicarb and white vinegar.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 12:29

No idea. You don’t need a woman on instagram to show you how to clean and organise your own house.

VeryBerrySeptember · 21/09/2018 12:29

If she's a hairdresser maybe the perm lotion has disabled her sense of smell!

VeryBerrySeptember · 21/09/2018 12:30

I do think people need a hand if they've come from a messy home.

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 12:32

I do think people need a hand if they've come from a messy home

The way she does it?

VeryBerrySeptember · 21/09/2018 12:36

I'm speaking from the position of never having watched her!

I have bought a housework guide on Kindle once and I'm just kinda justifying myself.😳

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 12:41

Sorry I realise my post seemed really blunt it wasn’t meant to be VeryBerry Blush

I think she’s patronising and smug (friends have shared her stuff on FB I don’t know how to use Instagram).

She seems to think she’s somehow superior much like most influencers, and I think it's all just so fake.
I’m sorry I made you feel like you had to justify yourself, I grew up in a really messy disorganised house and it’s made me the opposite. But you don’t need to justify yourself to anyone, least of all me.

Hunch army is very appropriate....they strike me as Hunbot types ...

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 12:48

She did a story on Instagram saying bullying was never acceptable and for people to stop, so not sure why people are saying she didn't.
Plus she does work - she's a hairdresser.
Wish people would get their facts straight without piling in with misinformation against someone.

VeryBerrySeptember · 21/09/2018 12:56

I didn't find it too blunt at all.

I was totally defending my own position but in vague "other people might find it handy" way!

YeTalkShiteHen · 21/09/2018 13:02

I’m now surveying the shit tip that is my house and trying to find the motivation to get it done.

Meh.

Neshoma · 21/09/2018 13:04

Is there any colour in her house?

CaptainCorrigan · 21/09/2018 13:06

Yes she did, about 2 weeks later. Very big of her

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 13:11

Captain Corrigan - so you admit she did then, which is the complete opposite of what people were saying which is that she didn't. Then people who don't bother checking for themselves, blindly believe and pile in with " well that's terrible, I don't like her anymore!" type crap.
Then on learning she actually did, it's "wah, but it was too late, very big of her."
Can't fucking win whatever you do, just shows if people are determined to bitch they're going to do it regardless of any facts or people doing what they said they wanted them to do in the first place.

A580Hojas · 21/09/2018 13:23

I'm also scratching my head over this op, but I accept I am old and this is how people do things these days. They follow people on instagram and talk about it as if it's important. Or they read blogs. Again, unfathomnable to me.

People say oh but it's harmless - but Mrs H's cleaning practices are absolutely NOT harmless to the environment! Encouraging people to order stacks of cleaning products (often by delivery) is a terrible thing to do! I also think there are bound to be followers of hers who set themselves impossibly high cleaning standards, get stressed when they fail to keep them up, and thus give themselves absolutely classic social media induced "anxiety".

It's bonkers and not true to say everything about it is benign and harmless.

Nobody is saying everything's benign and harmless. Confused
Yes, I'm mindful of how much products I use, I don't like using lots of different chemicals. Personal choice.
You say it's bad for anxiety. Making it sound like a blanket fact. Maybe in some cases, yes if you're prone to OCD for example, but it can also be great for anxiety. It gives you something to channel your mind to, a type of mindfulness. It also makes you feel better in yourself if you finally feel motivated in the first time in ages to clean and tidy properly.

Skyejuly · 21/09/2018 13:29

Zoflora smells awful.

BakedBeans47 · 21/09/2018 13:31

YANBU

Since when do most normal functioning adults need guidance on how to clean a house? Next there will be a blog on how to wipe your arse.

rainbowsandsmiles · 21/09/2018 13:34

Snipsnip - agree with you on your the human race baffles me more and more every day comment, but only because it baffles me that some have a real problem grasping that we're not all the same and we all like different things.
Not to mention complaining about pack mentality pile ons from so called Hinchers but completely oblivious that this thread so far is a pack mentality pile on to someone but in reverse. As you said - human race is baffling
