... to say that 'Lush' are an amazing shop?

This morning, my DP took my DDs shopping for my birthday gifts.
The smallest is 6, and LOVES Lush. She insisted that I needed something from there so she could play around with the bath bombs.
DP apparently found a few things, and DD trotted over to look at the pretty things. She picked up a bath bomb, and inadvertently knocked the entire display over. Bath bombs rolling all over the place!

DD burst into tears, and was mortified.
The lovely assistant brought her a tissue, laughed and said it was very funny, and not to worry.
She then asked DD which was her favorite. She picked out a bubble bar. The assistant gift wrapped it, and gave it to her for free!

That was such a kind gesture, and my DD was over the moon.
Thank you Lush! Smile

I dont personally like Lush but I will admit that they can be amazing with children. A few years ago I witnessed a young toddler in a pram take a shine to an absolutely massive chunk of soap (easily around £10 worth). Both the manager and the childs mother tried to get him to give up the soap and he wasnt having any of it. Screaming, crying, the works. In the end the manager quickly took it off him wrapped it up and give it back to the toddler free of charge. I thought that was lovely and the mother looked so relieved.

Wheresthel1ght · 15/09/2018 20:29

They were fantastic with my dd and helped find her a chemical free soap without citrus in it that she can use on her eczema.

Unfortunately their absolutely diabolical advertising campaign earlier this year that attacked the police force means I will never shop there again.

ThanksHunkyJesus · 15/09/2018 20:29

Do you work for them or something?

PurpleFlower1983 · 15/09/2018 20:31

I got a free bath bomb from one of their assistants with their ‘Pay It Forward’ scheme last year. We were having a lovely conversation about my job and she gave me it. I almost cried!

madvixen · 15/09/2018 20:31

I used to love Lush but they lost my custom with the ill thought out police campaign

Shallishanti123 · 15/09/2018 20:31

They are good with children.... but they mucked their ticket with me with their anti-police campaign.

MyAuntyBadger · 15/09/2018 20:32

Lush is a dreadful company, but they have some amazing employees.

Defrack · 15/09/2018 20:32

Ok products.
Shit company, didn't even properly apologise for their disgraceful police campaign. And has a horrible track record on other campaigns including chaining naked women up etc

SilverHairedCat · 15/09/2018 20:33

Nope, lost me as a customer over the police campaign. I'm glad your DD had a good experience you.

PixieCutRegret · 15/09/2018 20:33

I used to buy loads from lush and you're absolutely right the staff are brilliant. I made the decision to stop buying from them as the company itself has become very political and I didn't want my money to help campaigns I don't agree with. I wish they had just stuck to selling lovely bath products Sad

SilverHairedCat · 15/09/2018 20:34

*though

SupplychainNpton · 15/09/2018 20:34

Not at all!
I agree that the campaign was weird, and completely unnecessary. I haven't personally been in there for at least 6 months, when dragged in by DD.
I don't know anyone who works there either, but I thought it was an amazing gesture.
From what DP tells me, a lot of the bath bombs were pretty trashed on the floor.

I have another DD who dropped a watermelon in Tesco. The staff went batshit, then went on to have a debate about who would clear it up.
I don't work for Tesco either.
I don't work in retail at all.

Some absolutely terrible campaigns that they’ve never apologised for mean I no longer shop there. But their staff were always fab and it’s difficult to find decent alternatives to some of their products.

MaisyPops · 15/09/2018 20:36

They do some lovely products (and some that smell far too sweet).
I've stopped shopping there since they started getting very preachy and political on whatever issue seems to be woke at the time.

If they stuck to 'hi we do ethical bath products' then they'd get more of my custom.

mothersanonymous · 15/09/2018 20:36

I won't shop there after the police campaign but I'm sure they have some lovely employees. Judging by the police debacle, Lush is also quite fond of a bit of social media manipulation - just saying.

WelcomeToShootingStars · 15/09/2018 20:37

I've always had great service in store in the past. However, I've found that their products have been declining in quality whilst increasing in price for a while now.

The strange campaign they had attacking the police was the final nail in the coffin for me. I won't stop there again.

SupplychainNpton · 15/09/2018 20:38

I agree - I should have remarked on the fab staff, as opposed to the company in general.
There is no need for ramming their political views down people's throats at all.

The staff are so lovely with kids though - actively encouraging them to play with the products.

I used to spend a small fortune at Christmas and the adult children’s birthdays, but why would I want to spend money on a company that treats women like shit? They’ve had more than one shitty promotion.

donquixotedelamancha · 15/09/2018 20:41

The strange campaign they had attacking the police was the final nail in the coffin for me. I won't stop there again.

Ditto. That was deplorable. Not been in since.

SupplychainNpton · 15/09/2018 20:41

I reiterate that I have NEVER worked there. I did used to spend a lot of money there though.
It really pissed me off when they screwed up because some of the stuff was awesome.

I but Jäson products mostly these days. Great for sensitive skin.

What was the anti police campaign? I missed it, somehow.

SerendipityFelix · 15/09/2018 20:44

Partner in the Met, they’ve lost me over their slandering of the police earlier this year. They should stick to selling soap and not dodgy campaigns. Plus everything feels about 20 times more expensive than it needs to be compared to when I first became a ‘Lushie’ 20 years ago as a teen saving up my babysitting money to buy cleanser.

That said when I was working for an overseas charity that relied on volunteer workers living in-country they supported us by sending a massive load of products for the volunteer house. Slightly odd, appreciated at the time (although in retrospect money for our actual work might have been more useful! It was more about isn’t Lush such a generous company, rather than what did our charity actually need).

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 15/09/2018 20:45

It’s always struck me how happy the staff in Lush always are.
Do you think it’s the fumes? 🤨

MyOtherProfile · 15/09/2018 20:46

YABU to say Lush are an amazing shop. Lush is an amazing shop.

Kattyy · 15/09/2018 20:47

Had nothing to do with Lush. Get a headache every time I pass. Was a lovely shop assistant though:)
