To say that recent McCartney revelations have ruined the Beatles for me?

The recent 'group masturbation' news item from Paul McCartney bleached my eyes. I was born in the 70s but raised on 60s music meaning that rather than be a Stock Aitken Waterman follower in the 80s I was avidly listening to 60s original vinyls of the Beatles, Hollies and so on. I can't listen to Beatles songs now without wondering if it was a song inspired by those 'sessions'....OH and I've just thought about the band name 😮.... My world is crumbling.....

Really? That's ruined them, not John Lennon's wife beating?

Sparklingbrook · 15/09/2018 15:16

I am a bit Confused as to why he felt the need to overshare that at this point in time.

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 15/09/2018 15:19

Paul McCartney has just been embarrassingly cringy for many, many years and this is just the icing on the cake. Yeah and John Lennon was really quite unpleasant. I still like some of the Beatles stuff though.

DemocracyDiesInDarkness · 15/09/2018 15:23

Have no desire to read about them wanking together or whatever, but they've always been shite.

Birdsgottafly · 15/09/2018 15:28

Recent? This was in his biography eleven years ago.

Up until now did you think that group masturbation between men (more often) doesn't take place?

Easynow · 15/09/2018 15:32

Why do they do it? (Apart from obvious) but together?

How does one bring the question up in conversation?

"Right lads, Ive been thinking, shall we..." Confused

OkMaybeNot · 15/09/2018 15:33

Does this sort of stuff genuinely ruin the enjoyment of music you've loved for decades? The songs didn't group wank...

HRTpatch · 15/09/2018 15:34

Explains a lot about the songs.
Come together....

Didiusfalco · 15/09/2018 15:34

I think in light of all the shit that's been coming out about sexual harassment recently it's actually a complete 'meh'.

ThanosSavedMe · 15/09/2018 15:36

Just seems like attention seeking to me. A bit sad and pathetic

I bet his kids and grandchildren are thrilled

Charolais · 15/09/2018 15:36

lol Good one.

Inkanta · 15/09/2018 15:36

Crikey - that's all a bit weird OP. Not heard about that before.

dorisdog · 15/09/2018 15:36

OMG - someone shared a spoof article in my FB timeline earlier called 'Beating the Meatles.' Now I realise what that was about Grin

User46942 · 15/09/2018 15:39

I’m sure his kids are thrilled .

ShotsFired · 15/09/2018 15:40

He's got a new album out.

Hence whys he's on everything blathering shit like this.

mumsastudent · 15/09/2018 15:41

well by all accounts they were bombed out of their minds - but- he may have been making this up to sensationalized it & sell book - who knows (who cares?) as other state beating your wife up is worse???

Charolais · 15/09/2018 15:41

I found his 'revelation' disgusting, especially now John can't defend himself.

I would hate it if my friends made public the things we were up to in the 60's - 70's. ......no circle jerks though.

Ohyesiam · 15/09/2018 15:42

This ^

Inkanta · 15/09/2018 15:46

I think of Beatles songs as a strange combination of melancholic melody and sexualised sentiment. Sad sex.

Birdsgottafly · 15/09/2018 15:48

""I bet his kids and grandchildren are thrilled""

It sort of goes with the territory of being the relative of one of the most Famous Men in the World and being worth over a Billion £. They all cash in on that.

People want to know the ins and out. Bowie, Jagger etc all have stories, at least Paul McCartney's doesn't involve 13 year old Girls, or being a rape/pedophile apologist.

I know I wouldn't grumble.

Birdsgottafly · 15/09/2018 15:49

""He's got a new album out.""

Is that why he revealed this eleven years ago?

Giggorata · 15/09/2018 15:50

All the stuff on the internet nowadays about this and that sleb, even if 1/10 is true, has underlined how necessary it is to separate the person from their art/craft/whatever.
All my idols have turned out to have feet of clay... I won't write a long list, but let's say the only one who so far hasn’t t been outed in some awful way is JS Bach.....

SymphonyofShadows · 15/09/2018 15:51

John did a lot worse things than mutual wanking, horrible man

QueenoftheNights · 15/09/2018 15:52

Caitlin Moran did a lovely spoof of this in The Times yesterday on her celeb page if you can read it.

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 15/09/2018 15:52

I thought the photographs taken to accompany the 'revelations' were designed to give him some 'edgy gravitas' in a sort of Paul Weller type way, rather than the thumbs-up, dye-job, 'national treasure' not one of mine image he's been touting for decades.

Like the rest of the world, I didn't need to hear any of it, anyway Grin
