To ask you where and when your waters broke?

Posting for traffic.
I'm coming up to 37 weeks pregnant with my first and have (finally!) started my antenatal classes. We had a long discussion about waters breaking and how it can be a big gush or a slow drip, and it can happen anywhere and everywhere.
I'm thinking about putting down some puppy training pads under my bed sheet as our mattress is only two month old and I'm worried about it getting ruined!
WIBU to ask all you lovely mums when and where your waters broke? And what was it like?
Thanks Smile

When I realised what was happening I called for DH who did a comedy sketch routine falling out of the bed and tripping down the corridor in his boxers which made me laugh which made the waters pour out faster!

If you definitely want to go back to bed to wait and see, do NOT under ANY circumstances mention the fact they've gone. For some reason, no matter how often you tell them, men think it's time to panic and the baby is literally about to plop out.

TrashPanda · 27/01/2019 16:17

I've had one of each type I think.

DC1 whilst pushing at 40+6, came quickly afterwards.
DC2 walking down the road back to my car at 40+5, enough to soak the crotch of my jeans but not drip or be seen below my long maternity coat. Sat on a carrier bag and drove home Grin
DC3 midwife did it following a sweep at 40+9 which showed is was 3cm, needed a full bed change as completely flooded all the absorbent pads she'd put down and dripped on the floor Blush

Huntawaymama · 27/01/2019 16:18

First time my waters were popped for me at 8cm dilated and second time they burst as she pushed her head out.

I had a puppy pad down on the bed both times though just in case

Go and join Knightsbridge on the naughty step for resurrecting another zombie thread!

In a supermarket. I started laughing like a maniac then shoved my empty trolley at some poor man before running out and sitting on a bin liner in my car while driving home.

dayswithaY · 27/01/2019 16:23

Just realised this is a zombie - soz!

lubeybooby · 27/01/2019 16:26

39 weeks, in bed, small pop woke me up but it was 4am and dd's head was so low it was blocking the flow of water so there was only a little, and I wasn't really with it and concerned I was peeing myself. I then realised I was having contractions and woke up dp, went to hospital etc. DD born 8 hours later

YoureAMeanOneMrGrinch · 27/01/2019 16:27

I was 40+6 and on the hospital bed by the midwife.

It definitely sped up my labour and made it more painful, and only felt like a warm trickle.
I do wish I'd experienced the proper waters breaking moment!

DorisDances · 27/01/2019 16:50

Leapt off the sofa as mine went - no warning!

WeeDoughball · 27/01/2019 16:59

DC1 - by midwife during labour to help get things going (induced 35 weeks)

DC2 - making DC1 breakfast, small dribble wasn't that sure if it was my waters. Then it continued a bit more in shower etc. 36+6 and DC2 born the same day

TrixieFranklin · 27/01/2019 17:01

Lovely thread. With my twins they were broken as part of my induction, I couldn't believe how much fluid came pouring out!!!

Rodenhide · 27/01/2019 17:26

In a meeting at work. (33 weeks with twins.)
Actually, the contractions started partway through the meeting but the waters didn't break until I was in the lift, still with the (quite important and old fashioned) people from the meeting.

julesmumoftwins · 27/01/2019 17:30

I was 36 weeks and 4 days, expecting twins, and my waters broke just as I was about to sit down on the loo!! Couldn’t have happened in a better place 😂😂😂

Rodenhide · 27/01/2019 17:35

My mum's broke in a swimming pool when she had me. No one noticed and she told the lifeguard- a boy of about 17- that her waters had broken in the swimming pool and she didn't know the protocol for this but thought she should let him know. She left quite quickly.

fishonabicycle · 27/01/2019 17:38

Sainsbury's

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 27/01/2019 17:39

DS1 at home, they broke when I thought I needed the toilet and realised when it wouldn't stop!

Ds2 at home again, woke up in the middle of the night, stood up and gush!

Ds3&4 - in hospital. I'd gone in when I reloaded I'd been having contractions all day (thought it was just Braxton Hicks) Spent the evening being monitored. They sent DH home at midnight and then my waters broke at 1am so they had to call him back as they wanted to do a c-section (due to two previous sections)

My youngest was an elective section so didn't get that far.

Everythingmagnolia · 27/01/2019 17:39

Both times turning over in bed at around 5am

cptartapp · 27/01/2019 17:45

DC1 on the toilet 24 hours before he was finally born.
DC2 in the delivery suite whilst trying not to push as the midwife frantically opened delivery packs and called for help. Born very shortly after.

whatrhedickensishappening · 27/01/2019 18:51

First time- 36 weeks- went to work and they slowly started to trickle- I thought I’d wet myself!
Kept on trickling for about an hour/hour and a half- went up to hospital and got out of the car and whoosh- the full impact!
Funny because they had told me at my antenatal class that hardly anyone’s waters break before labour and that when they broke it wouldn’t be a trickle- wrong on both counts for them!

Elfinablender · 27/01/2019 18:54

With ds1 my waters went at 38 weeks with no warning. I was sat on the couch and had just finished dinner. I had to pack my maternity bag while in labour. Grin

Heatherjayne1972 · 27/01/2019 18:56

In the delivery suite. 10cm dilated all ready to start pushing
Went with a bang so loud the Midwife jumped

3out · 27/01/2019 19:04

Went in hospital ten hours into labour, 1 hour before delivery with 1. Broken by MW for 2 and 3 and delivered immediately after.

WhiteOrange · 27/01/2019 19:04

Half way through labour

rosetintedview · 27/01/2019 19:08

First time I was about 18hrs into what turned out to be a 36hr labour....walking around the car park of the birthing centre with dh "to get things moving" (guess it worked to some extent!)

Second time they went literally as I walked through the doors of the labour ward - it was a big "ha - told you so!" moment as I'd spent the last two hours being told to stay home as I "definitely wasn't in labour yet". DD was born an hour later 😁

LaurieMarlow · 27/01/2019 19:18

DS1 at 39.4. I got up in the middle of the night, felt a bit funny, they went in the bathroom - a proper torrent of water, they came in a huge rush. I didn't go into labour though and had to be induced (ended in Cs)

DS2 they never went. I got to 41 weeks without the slightest hint of going into labour, so after deciding against an induction, they gave me a c section.
