To ask if anyone can confirm sex of my kitten from photo?

I feel a bit stupid asking this but..... had kitten 6 weeks. Told she was a girl. Took her to vets a couple weeks ago for injections. Vet said she was a girl but it took him ages to decide.

Last night I was cuddling her and she lays like a baby. I am convinced a little willy popped out. Can anyone tell? 😊😊😊

That’s a boy; there’s a gap between urethral opening(ie willy) and anus (gap to be filled with wee testicles); in a female the vulva and anus are close together.

Is it a new kitten you've rehomed or do you have the mother? Kittens should really be with their mothers until 8 weeks, and sexing kittens at 6 weeks can be quite hard. That said, I think it looks like a male. The opening for a male is a circle and for a female is a slit, it's also best to check by having the kitten on all fours and by lifting the tail up.

SpoonBlender · 09/09/2018 00:03

Almost certainly a boy - the arse and pink bits are way too far apart to be a girl.

Matilda15 · 09/09/2018 00:03

That’s a boy imo. Looks exactly like my cat looked as a kitten, interestingly our vet also said girl first but I was convinced from the start!

Thank you, I thought I was going mad when I spotted it last night. He/she is 4 months old now, and vet looked at her about 5 weeks ago. Do they often get it wrong??!

Am booking in for neutering soon and it would help to be sure!!

Boy deffo

ludothedog · 09/09/2018 00:06

Oh OP, I have no idea but your post did make me laugh. We need a penis emoji!

therewillbetime · 09/09/2018 00:07

I’ve had her six weeks....I don’t have the mother but she left mum at ten weeks. Vet sexed her at 11 weeks just after I got her...him!!

clearly a boy

CatchingBabies · 09/09/2018 00:09

That’s 1000% a boy! I breed Ragdolls and look at lots of kitten genitals as a result. I’m not sure I’d be very trusting of a vet that got it wrong, I sex mine at birth and haven’t been wrong yet.

therewillbetime · 09/09/2018 00:10

Ludothedog, I know, I feel like a prat asking but thought I’d try on here!!!

I picked a girl as was told my older male cat would settle better with a female kitten. It might explain why he’s been so grumpy since he/she arrived!!

Branleuse · 09/09/2018 00:10

Thats a boy 100%

catdoctor · 09/09/2018 00:10

I’m a vet and sex should be obvious at vaccination. Hamsters however....😁

catdoctor · 09/09/2018 00:11

The patient’s sex not the vet’s

ActuallyAmanda · 09/09/2018 00:11

Boy BrewCakeFlowers

AnduinsGirl · 09/09/2018 00:11

LOL!!! It's a boy without doubt. And I demand that you call him Scabbers.

catdoctor · 09/09/2018 00:11

Or maybe that’s a topic for the FWR boards...

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 09/09/2018 00:12

Ahh rag dolls are the second best cats ever

MargotLovedTom1 · 09/09/2018 00:13

Eeek. Has s/he got a name which can be easily amended?!

CrochetBelle · 09/09/2018 00:14

Go on then... what's her name?

therewillbetime · 09/09/2018 00:16

Funnily enough the vet carried her off into another room as she/he was squirming a lot and he couldn’t tell straightaway. But he came back and said yes, it’s a girl.

I can’t believe, to me she looks like a girl and I was going to book her in for neutering next week.
He will need renaming.
